By the time the Library team arrived at the Crystal Castle, the book had yielded more of its secrets. Perhaps because of the close proximity to the crystals that were discovered earlier, 5 more pages were now filled with text, each describing a new adventure of the mysterious Unicorn. As it was their only clue, several groups were chosen to head expeditions to the locations noted in the newly revealed stories to see if anything could be gleaned in relation to this book or the crystals that floated in their own, separate chamber.

Far above them, and on the other side of the mountain, the train chugged into Canterlot Station. The away team from the Empire had gotten out early. In fact, they had gotten out near the bottom of the mountain. They were far from the public eye, and far from the capital of Equestria, but there was one saving grace. Princess Cadence had sent out word of their discovery before the group had even gotten on the train, and Princess Celestia had sent out a search party almost immediately. Because of this, a guard was waiting for them, and directed them towards their goal: A hidden, previously boarded up entrance to the Crystal Caverns deep within the mountain upon which the castle now stood had been cleared of the overgrowth that had made it nearly invisible and now stood open. The yawning passage waited patiently for what could be its first entrants in centuries.

The wind howled at the entrance of the caverns. The Unicorn deemed herself very lucky that their entrance was not further up the mountain. She had dreaded the climb when she first saw the scale of it, and further dreaded the weather as the unmistakable signs of a colossal storm formed just behind the peak and rolled towards her. She had made it inside just in time, and she could still feel the spray of the rain as the wind carried it towards her, as if it were lashing out at her to drag her back into its gale. At first, the sights were as she expected. Purple and brown and red rock, and a dirt floor that held the unmistakable wheel tracks that she’d followed for so long. Ahead, however, she saw what looked to be a lit chamber. The closer she got, the brighter it became, and it wasn’t until she stepped into the cavern itself and allowed her eyes to adjust to the sudden and unexpected brightness that she understood why. The beauteous crystals broke through everything, made up everything. The light refracted through each one, so that everything glowed. Even the floor shone bright. Still, as she looked down, she noticed that the dirt trail from the caravan only led a short distance along this new, hard surface before fading away. Somehow, it made the whole thing seem dimmer. But the path was clear, and she followed it purely on instinct, putting aside her awe for the sights she was passing by. If they hadn’t gotten out of the cave before the storm, perhaps they were still there, at the other end, just waiting for the wind and rain to subside. Just ahead, just there. These beautiful crystals would be burned into her memory as the last sight she saw before she reached her love. Surely they would.
