Can't Stand the Heat(Jasper)

He wasn't sure how he got here. The last thing he remembered was being told he would be heading up to Canterlot for a very important social event, but how did he get to in this predicament.This wasn't how it was last time. The room was white and silver, stretching what seemed like forever in every direction, but this was a big castle and he had been working for what seemed like hours already so maybe he was just imagining. He looked around "blasted place, the least they could do is turn on some sort of cooling system." Mignon was sweating through through his outfit, the kitchen felt like a sauna and it was starting to get to him.

Also that smell,that pungent smell. The smell of the burning wood, his own sweat, and....meat,meat that's been sitting out, like a carcase left to rot. Apparently, the freezer where the meat was being stored wasn't working in the castle, but in a place with magical unicorn's you'd think someone would specialize in cold or ice or something, but apparently not. Though appalled and disgusted by the meat he was told to still use it and that there was no time to get new stuff and the those "stupid" griffon guests would never know the difference. The air was getting so humid and thick in the kitchen that breathing seeming like a hard task in and of itself. Mignon was a little curious though, why there weren't really any ponies or anyone else in general except the occasional server passing by, but whenever Mignon thought about these things another flood of orders would come in and right away his attention would turn to them.

He was reaching his limits, but something kept him going, driven by sheer will power and guts.....maybe. He couldn't even tell at this point what was keeping him going. Was it will power, the fact he got guts,heart, or just that doesn't wanna disappoint any pony yet by slacking off. "Order up!!" He yelled and just like all the other orders, he looks away for a second, food gone, pony leaving on the other side of the set up to take it to the order to the customer/guest. And just like all the other times a new row of orders to make. He takes a long sigh of exhaustion and continues at it.

So he was to enter this stallion's dream, navigate his way around it and by some means lead the stallion out of the dream and back to the world as it is. Afterward, he would no doubt be seen as some sort of hero, at least to someone. After all, no one could go missing without someone caring, someone who would want to see them returned. Certainly this was a desirable outcome. He could not be a hero unless he properly saved his charge. Becoming a hero would give him a good splash of mind juices and everyone would be all the happier. Why wouldn't he get involved? He had already joined Miss Topaz on the journey to help Lazuli and Lazuli was already being helped by another.

But being a hero was not the important part. This was his job. He was Jasper Edge, apprentice to Flint, master of the mental faculties. Dreams were part of the realm of the mind, thus Jasper was closer to an expert than most could claim. He had been given adequate instruction. The dream would be malleable, he could shift certain aspects of it, especially those concerning himself. But the dreamer's power would be all the greater. The dream placed him in some nature of eating facility, a proper restaurant, perhaps. He quickly shifted his own form to include a fetching black blazer. Certainly more heroic than not wearing a thing.

He did not see the stallion he was after within the patronless dining area. But the help ambled about anyway. He quickly moved to bar one of their paths, wanting to get to the point of this as quickly as possible. ”Excuse me, I'm looking for a Mr. Mignon, kindly point me in his direction and this will all work itself out, promise,” he said, his tone as friendly as he could make it. If it truly was all this limited space, surely this exercise would be over before he knew it. So much for dreams being risky business.

His scrunched his nose. Had he just noticed this heat? It was awful...

The dining area was an elaborate set up, with crystal chandlers, red wine colored silk curtains that had ornate gold trimmings and free flowing designs sewn into them. A red and gold diamond design on the ceiling. The floors were stained a dark brown to compliment the rest of the room. The tables were filled with food's, wine's, and other beverages to satisfy the guests. The room was also amazingly clean, not a crumb on the floor. The room was also hot and humid like the kitchen, the smell also permeating through the walls where the kitchen would be.Though the conditions didn't seem to be bothering those eating.

When Jasper blocked the "pony" it took a little for the "pony" to look down at Jasper. It was dressed in formal attire and although it looked like a pony its mouth was huge! It was three times the size of a normal pony's. Its eyes were white with no pupils. The "pony" like thing sniffed the air. "MMMMMMMMM mignon, sounds delicious~ A little Au jus drizzled on top, some grilled asparagus, bread to soak up that succulent Au jus, and red wine to wash it down"

The rest of the guests turned towards Jasper. All had blank white eyes, food in their mouths and stomachs distended. The species varied, but pony, griffon or others their tables were filled to the brim with Mignon's works. These things represented Gluttons, beings that could eat their fill and still demand more, more, and more. The thing then smells Jasper "You smell good yourself~"

Then all of a sudden, a door opens up. A unicorn figure walks out with a giant trays of various foods. It looked like the others in that it had blank white eyes and a enlarged, warped mouth, but it looked like it was no more that flesh and bones. All the other beings turned their attention away from Jasper at the smell of the food. Their mouths salivating and the unicorn like being brought the food to their tables. They all lunged at the food, not missing a spec, nothing dropping to the floor, face first.The famined pony after delivering all the food then made his way back through the doors into an area the looked like its way into the kitchen.

Jasper raised an eyebrow before both eyes went wide. Obviously in dreams things did not have to be realistic, they could pull from different experiences and combine in ways that well... That were beyond all but dreams. But this was just deranged. He really should have looked into this man's mental health history before he had chosen to enter his dream. Might have better prepared him for this wraith. And it enjoyed asparagus? As if it was not mad enough already, it also had questionable taste. Well, the red wine was a classy touch, but despite that, this shade was an unacceptable devourer for Jasper.

It seemed he would not have to save himself, as the entrance of a white unicorn bearing a less raw course prompted the foul creature and those like it to practically pounce. The site would have churned his stomach if he was awake. The dreamworld afforded him the fortitude to sneer. No, he could not find himself at the wrong end of those teeth. It would be disastrous to his form and his reputation. Instead, he would follow the new lead.

Unfortunately, the new lead had not tarried long in this room, so calling out would do no good other than attract the attention of the ghouls.

Trotting quickly, he went to catch the white unicorn, wanting to be out of this room before those detestable beings had finished whatever it was that had so keenly taken their interest. As he passed, he considered getting a wiff out of curiosity, but quickly thought it best not to allow any smells from that area into his nose.

With all the boldness he could muster, he busted inside of the door, fully expecting to find a kitchen on the other side. At first glance, it seemed as if he was not mistaken.

The place Jasper went into was a kitchen, but Mignon was nowhere to be located inside of it. Also the ponies looked...well....normal! They weren't the horrible ghouls like outside, though the kitchen still smelled pungent and humidity through the roof with no air flow at all. Red hot stoves and ovens all around. A red diamond pattern dotted the floor.

Among all the ponies was a Blonde maned Stallion working around the kitchen like a mad stallion, Shouting at the others, throwing away products he thought were pitiful "WHAT THE BUCK IS THIS!!!!!" Throws a plate against the wall, sending shards and food splattering. "I WOULDN'T FEED THAT TO DAMN RAT!!!!!IT BELONGS IN THE TOILET ALONG WITH THE REST OF YOUR BULL -Enter explicit word here-" The blonde hair pony turns his attention towards Jasper, the ponies behind him clean up the mess. The blonde haired pony marches right up to Jasper. "AND WHO THE BUCK LET A KID IN HERE. WHO THE BUCK ARE YOU!!!!?"

Jasper's initial reaction to the change was one of relief. Those creatures in the first room were unsettling. As a child, his dreams had been filled with such specters. Not exactly the same, but of a similar ilk. Distorted versions of things that already existed. There was a doorway that had always looked like a giant from where he lay his head and it had given him no shortage of nightly woes. As he was now older, he would have liked to be beyond feeling afraid of dream made monsters, but the stakes were higher while delved into the mind of another.

He reared back as a harsh voice filled the room, his eyes open as wide as they could. The last room had been a creepy kind of scary, this was a much less eerie but no less potent type. ”I'm not actually a-” he started, his reflex too deny childhood going into action.

”I-I just need to find Mignon, then I'll be out of your hair...” He requested, dreading the type of response he was sure to get. Anger, Flint said, was the emotion created to force our will upon another. With or without that knowledge, it was hard not to make adjustments based upon the source's whims.
