"So this is how it is..." he said with a sigh.
A busy day in Ponyville it seemed, ponies as far as the eye could see, or so he felt. All of them so happy, except for the occasional scowl of those soured by a bad deal, just going about their business. Leaves falling from the trees, lining the streets with the floral hair follicles. Stalls open with the smiling faces of their owners. Even the sky had it all going on, just enough clouds in the sky, not too many, not too little, just the right amount, and the sun shone through the balding trees in an almost enchanting way. For anyone else, this was the perfect day to go out.
"Why today?" with a glance to he receding belly and a wipe of his muzzle.
*Roooooooooooooooaaaaaaaaaarrr*
"Quieeeeeeeeeeeet..." he moaned as he stared in the sea of ponies.
It was that time of the month again... shopping day... but why did it have to be so crowded. Ponies everywhere, watching, waiting. He stood in the dust filled doorway of his homestead, a wave of anxiety overwhelming him. "Why today... *Achoo!* It's too cold... too many... what do you want from me..." he pondered and he stared to the sun, silently cursing Celestia for this atrocity of situations. "It might just be better to wait them out... I could clean..." he turned to see the problem that awaited him, cobwebs dangling from the ceiling, dirt stuck between the floor boards, half busted counter-top... "Maybe next time..."
Clad in scarf, orange and striped, and umbrella in hoof, black and grey, our lackluster hero sets out on his adventure into the brisk, Autumnal day. First on the list, he peered through his frames, was the fruit stand.
"Please don't make me regret this..."
