Or, Luna Gets To See Adorable Critters!
Fossil Stone smiled from across a carriage at Luna. It was the kind of smile that came only when one knew a pleasant secret that another did not. The secret was their destination. The pair were riding in a carriage with the curtains drawn up so that a the Princess of the Night wouldn't be able to see where they were going until they arrived. What good was a surprise you could see coming?
It was Hearts and Hooves day, and the couple was just heading out on their date. The Unicorn had put a lot of thought into what they would be doing. He wanted it to be something they hadn't done before so it would be special, and since it was a day-time activity there would still be plenty of time to have dinner together at the end of it all.
Fossil had been pretty tight-lipped about the details so far. He had, of course, given Luna the time frame of their date, with the ending time being more of a rough approximation than set in stone. He had told her that a good deal of walking would be involved, and for a period enough that they may take a break here and there for a snack, and that it would be in a public place. There had been a few occasions where the two had strolled the skydocks to watch the airships come and go. In fact that had been their first date, but if one paid attention to how the carriage had turned and moved, it would be obvious that they weren't near such edges of Canterlot.
When the carriage stopped the professor took a quick peek past a curtain and smiled. "Ah-ha. We're here Luna. Time to disembark and see where we are." With the glowing jade light of Fossil's magic the door opened. The professor exited the carriage then turned and offered his hoof to Luna to help her. His eyes were fixed on her to see her reaction once she saw what their destination was.
As the sign above the entrance proclaimed, they were at the Canterlot Zoo.
