Pipsqueak, for the first time in ever, had a treasure map. Well—okay, it was more like a piece of paper with a name on it, but it WAS paper and it WOULD lead him to treasure, in a way. And that was good enough for him! He had a filly to seek out in the great and turbulent seas of the Hearts & Hooves Day Fun Fair, and no great beast or mutiny would stop him from finding her!
His dad did tell him to be careful, though, and that he'd be keeping an eye from where the moms and dads and uncles and aunties were watching. So Pip was going be be careful. For example: he only climbed on top of one of the smaller booths, one with a tent-top so he could slip down safely. (Safe-ish, at least.)
The name said Piña Colada on it, and he had no idea who that was, he hadn't seen her at the Ponyville schoolhouse or anything. But that just meant the search was on! Sadly, Pip's dad had encouraged him away from donning the pirate outfit to meet his fair maiden... but that hadn't stopped him from sneaking along a spyglass.
Holding the tent's center pole around his foreleg, like a lookout in the crow's nest, e extended the little brass telescope and peeked through one eye out over the Fun Fair for Foals. He didn't see any great big blinking signs that said "PIÑA HERE" so maybe this was going to be harder than he thought... but he did see some rides (oh Celestia they had a boat ride, he was going to get them on that like salt on crackers), fairway games they could play, all sorts of fun things to do! He couldn't wait to find her so they could start exploring!
Except that wasn't going to be easy, was it? He figured he could just climb up here, look around with his spyglass and spot her, but if he didn't know what she looked like and she didn't know what he looked like how would they find each other?
But... he was already up there, on top of a booth. And what he did know was her name. And what did sailors do when they wanted to call their beloveds?
"Ahem..." He cleared his throat, and let loose the off-key sea shanty.
"Up aloft, up aloft this spar must go,
Up aloft, up aloft from down below~
Piña Piña, where do you go?
A ha, me Trotland Piña~
Piña Piña, where do you go?
A ha, me Trotland Piña~"
