Woah… big crowd here. Just don’t get too close and you won’t scare Catchfly. She’s terrified of larger crowds though not for the reasons of most. She doesn’t get stage-fright but rather gets the feeling of being insignificant. Despite being brought up to always wear a smile despite how heavy the rain may be, deep down she’s always been upset about herself. She’s always been the third wheel to any group and feels as if she’s nothing more than a background pony who just provides a smile, regardless of the fact that she’s a go-getter. Oh well, her flowers keep her plenty company as it is.
Aside from her terror and personal feelings of large crowds, Catchfly is very soft spoken until she comes to know others more or until they bring up topics that allow her to reminisce. She loves talking about her past almost as much as tending to the flowers themselves. However, she has no tolerance for the hard feelings between races and hostile treatment. She’s not one to hold a grudge against an entire race for the actions of few. To her, only those few should be punished and the rest go unjudged for they did no wrong. Equality for all and happiness all around is what she hopes to one day see, and to share her smile with others has become not only a hobby but a pleasure.
Don't touch her flowers with the intent of causing harm to them. She cares for her flowers as much as a mother would for her child and would break everything she's set against violence in a fit of rage if she doesn't well up in tears at first. She's never actually harmed anyone physically before so it would probably take a bully constantly ruining her flowers to cause this to happen. SO DON'T MAKE HER CRY!
Catchfly enjoys all times of the day. She finds that being restricted to the night because she's a batpony is nonsense and loved to relish in Celestia's sun as well as Luna's Moon. However, should she stay outside in the sun too long her eyes become pained and she requires rest shortly after.
Often bubbly and happy, she does her best to not forget her past but remember it as a way to keep making strides to become a better pony. She'd sooner give every bit she owns to help the needy than let them suffer and she's always more than willing to lend an ear for those who need it. Very rarely her past will creep up on her and crack the image she's created of herself. Often times when this happens, she'll lie in her flower garden for days on in tending to them, giving herself a place of zen to recollect herself and start again.
#History ;
Catchfly Silene had been born on the outskirts of Baltimare and lived in a small two story, rundown abandoned building that no longer served its original purpose. Instead it came to serve as a home and a flower shop. Catchfly hated the place to start. She didn’t understand why it was they had to live in such a terrible state. She questioned her mom constantly and fought with her day in and out. She was young and wanted answers to the questions she asked constantly, spiraling downward with nothing to hold on to.
Catchfly used to look at the buildings in the city and see how much nicer they appeared than the one she stayed in. One day upon going to once again ask her mother about the situation, she found a stallion lying on the couch with her mother tending to the very injured stallion quietly. With Catchfly’s curiosity getting the better of her, she sat in the hallway just in front of her staircase and waited silently. Her mother never came to this part of the house. Catchfly made it very clear she didn’t want anyone up in her room but Catchfly herself. Upon her mother going to sleep, the stallion called out to Catchfly with a whisper, taking her off guard. Steeling her nerves, she walked around the corner and took a seat by the stallion.
His injuries consisted of many severe burns and a broken hind leg.Catchfly asked if it hurt and becomes bewildered when told it doesn’t. Had she been grown up she would have dug her hoof into the burn to get them to quit trying to be so tough. It doesn’t take long afterwards for Catchfly to want to talk to the stallion more and more. But before she does so, he asks her if her name was Catchfly Silene. Nobody but her mother and the teachers at school knew her name. How did this stallion know about it? With a chuckle he tells her his name is Cantos Goodwill.
Upon finishing their introductions, the stallion said that their home looked lovely and was thankful for the shelter. Catchfly thought this stallion had bumped his head several times, the place needed new structure, shingles, paint and that was only the surface of it all. This stallion bewildered her almost as much as the stubbornness her mother had. It was a different kind of bewilderment, one that allured Catchfly to want to talk more to the stallion everyday after her mother finished tending to him and went to sleep.
Before long, Catchfly began to pour out all of her demons and frustrations to Cantos, at first ending up crying in front of the stallion several times. Each time Cantos would listen and each time Cantos would give advice to her that had been passed on to him. Finally, a half year after Cantos had been staying with them, he told Catchfly his story.
The story gripped Catchfly’s heart. Through Cantos she learned about her mother back when she actually had been able to smile, at first not knowing it was her. Cantos at first described her as a filly he grew very close to growing up. Cantos later on had hurt the same filly and shortly after vanished. His life had become chaotic and unbalanced until he finally found the reason for why he used to smile so much, something that instead of caring for with his heart as he once did, it became a mechanical programmed function. He continued his story until showing Catchfly the only thing he cared to save in the fire that claimed his home and left him without anything.
A pink Silene flower.
From the beginning her mother had her named figured out and planned. She only grew these flowers when she wanted to show those she loved with all of her heart. Cantos went on to tell her about how her mother always looked to the bright side of things and held on to hope, brightening his day with a single smile. He asked Catchfly if she would like to care for the flower as he once did.
She said yes.
From that point on Silene became obsessed with caring for the little flower, soon quickly after caring for and growing more on her balcony. The railings had become littered with pots and flowers of all kinds. She wasn’t satisfied, it wasn’t completed yet. The balcony had some depth to it and had a wide area for anyone to relax on so she took advantage of it. After cutting and pulling up several boards of wood, she dug a wide hole into the balcony. She placed soil around the outer edges before filling the hole up with water. Soon after, that too became filled with flowers. It became her own little piece of heaven and with the love and care she put into the flowers, they gave back to her and began to turn her whole life around. As she came to love to care for the flowers, she gained her cutie mark. A group of white Silene flowers slightly spread apart.
A couple years down the road, Cantos had been able to get a job and help out by working with a crew on a passenger train, fueled by coal and worked nonstop. With Catchfly’s life taking an upbeat, happier turnaround, her relationship with her mother grew exponentially. Even the flower shop began to show signs of success and flourished and her mother even began to smile. At every summer, winter, and spring break they would wake before dawn to go to the train station and board the train to see Cantos and the crew. The trips became a way for the family to bond together.
The rest of this story, along with some missing details, is for Catchfly to tell those who she will come to love and trust without a doubt.
Never in Catchfly’s life had she been associated directly with a bat colony, she prefers the quiet life of a household out on the outskirts of a city. Even more so, she prefers a smaller crowd versus a larger crowd, thus thankful for the small lobby that held their flowers in the shop. Never did she ever see anymore than ten ponies at a time inside except for on Hearts and Hooves day which always demanded the best from her and her heart as she’s never had the pleasure to enjoy such warm feelings the holiday calls for with one who didn’t live with her.
For her, the quiet life provided little chance for turmoil after her turnaround to upset her and because of such a life, she’s been able to blossom into one who manages to find a smile despite most any situation. Her mother and a stallion played a large role in her outlook in life. She didn’t always enjoy the rundown building that quickly became her place of serenity and solace. Now, she hopes to spread this outlook on life she has, the beauty in negative spaces she sees, the love she can give to a special few, and a smile for all to share. The Roleplayer's Corner

What a beautiful sky tonight had proven to give. The sky went from a bright orange the closer it was to touching Celestia's falling sun, fading away to a deep purple as the sky raced away from the source of light. It was truly a sight to behold as Cloudsdale became an increasingly larger picture.
Catchfly Silene floated along in a massive passenger hot air balloon with little to nothing in her name. Almost every bit she had earned in Baltimare she gave back to her mother and the flower store that had brought her so much happiness over the years. That made the shortage of bits ok to her. She didn't need much to be happy or to live. Though a job had certainly become a necessity. She needed to find a job in a place that would at least allow her to make a few bits before trying to travel again. After all, winter could sneak up on her and she needed at least to have a place that could keep her warm. In the mean time, she enjoyed the warm weather and slept outside wherever unless it was raining.
The long travel from Baltimare had exhausted her. So during her travels, she decided to board a passenger hot air balloon after picking a place at random to purchase a ticket for. Low and behold Cloudsdale had been the spot on the map that her hoof had landed on. She had heard of this lovely city made of clouds, how the rainbow fountains flowed through the city and off the clouds like a stream of rushing water. Such an idea seemed something out of a fantasy tale to Catchfly, one she felt she could see with her own eyes rather than that through pictures and imagination.
The wind danced around Catchfly as it pleased, billowing her mane and tail about. She didn't fight it. She rather enjoyed how the wind felt as if it were greeting her as the hot air balloon came to dock. Hello Cloudsdale, it is wonderful to have finally been blessed to be able to walk upon your white fluffy clouds and within your beautiful environment. I do hope we will enjoy our time together here.
Silene walks over to the exit gate on the balloon, shouldering a flower basket. Inside the neatly golden brown woven basket sat a wide variety of colorful flowers. The flowers sat inside of small pots, though if anypony were to take a look it would seem as if it were just a bunch of flowers placed in the basket and possibly overflowing. That was ok. For now, these flowers weren't for sale.
With her back turned to the sunlight, Silene's eyes began to glow a crisp bright golden color. The night was arriving and her batpony perks were beginning to kick in. She wasn't like most batponies who normally stayed away from the sunlight. She didn't complain, though with the sun falling and the night rising, Catchfly began to feel a rush of energy surge through her. The anticipation had risen and now she was here. Then again, the rush of energy could just be the fact that a large crowd of ponies had begun to crowd around behind her, waiting to be cleared to leave. Oh how she hated large crowds.
