Some of the birds that Fluttershy cared for were out in the forest. They didn’t live in her cottage or in her birdhouses but they still depended on her. Well, that was a bit of a lie they mainly cared for themselves but she just liked to make sure that they had full tummies. She was holding a sack of seeds in her mouth.[/size]
Animals loved Fluttershy and Fluttershy loved them as well. Pegasus ponies weren’t known for their rapport with ground dwellers, actually most of them had a cutie mark that was related to weather or flying. Fluttershy had never felt especially at home up in her home of Cloudsdale. She’d always had weak wings and quite frankly she was afraid of heights. The ground was truly where Fluttershy belong amongst all of her animals and among the flora. There were no flowers in Cloudsdale, no animals for that matter either, and there was no solid place for her to plant her hooves. As fluffy and beautiful as the clouds were she didn’t feel all that comfortable on them. If there was any place Fluttershy was supposed to be it was down in Ponyville near the Everfree forest.
When she had moved down to Ponyville she had decided to make her home near the forest as it had such a high population of animals close by and almost nopony ever went near it which meant no one ever bothered her. She never felt especially comfortable with other ponies either. Her home was a quaint little cottage which nopony else had used in years and it was perfect for her. She had supposed that once upon a time there was somepony else with a talent like hers which had lived in her home but it was deserted by the time she got her hooves on it. It came with all the tracks and runways built into it she had only repainted, refurnished, and made it into her own.
Her animals were currently eating as they often did. Or at least they had been eating when she had left them. The mare hummed quietly to herself as she left her home for her walk. It wasn’t often Fluttershy went into the forest though as she went to it at least once a week ever since she became friends with Zecora. Not that she was afraid of it, well actually she was afraid of it. But the animals needed her and her animals gave her courage. Dropping the sack she pulled the tie around it and spread the seeds around.
Some of the birds which had become more familiar with her flew down from the trees. She had made friends with a family of cardinals, grosbeak, and quite a few sparrows, “All right everybirdie, eat up now.” They had become so tame with her some of them chirped and perched nearby her. When they finished eating she smiled and stated, “All right little friends, I’ll be back later.” With that she started to trot back home.
Since she was alone she sang softly and swished her tail from side to side. Some of her bird friends sang as well but didn’t copy her melody as her birds in her cottage did.
