The night was calm up in the Storm House. The home of the Skies was quiet to say the least. Both Calm Skies and North Wind were out for their job and CJ was home alone. And this could only mean one thing. There was a carton of Neopolitan Ice cream empty and lazily dropped on the floor, CJ was passed out in his Cloud Bag Chair and stacks of books surrounded him after a night of Binge reading. For the colt, this was normal, expect for the ice cream part, his parents rarely left ice cream in the freezer when they were both gone for work. From just a cursory glance of his face, it would seem like he was having the most enjoyable dream of all time. His hoof would occasioanally rise up to scratch his stomach and his left leg would kick.

Upon entering the Dream World everything is a pale white with no features. One could walk on the floor, but you couldn't tell there was a floor there, nor walls, or ceiling. It just seemed like an infinite space in every direction. Nothing could be seen, at least until the first word was spoken. At this cue and endless supply of infinitely long bookshelves would come racing by at Rainbow Dashian speeds passing the visitor. Winds whipping by before everything suddenly stops. A single hard bound book would poke out from the organized shelf. It is an entire shelf on the word spoken. The book studded with red diamonds aong the edge.
Keans had been confused at first. The blank horizon was something she hadn't expected of Cloudyjacks mind. He might have been the dumbest, smart pony she knew but he was also not above some degree of chaos or excitement. The nothingness she faced was as far from CJ as one could get, making her confused. "What-"
The winds whipping about caused the griffon to wince, covering her eyes as the long library shelves materialized before her. She sighed, shaking her head with a small grin. Now this was more like it.
Noticing the book poking out of the shelf, she moved towards it and removed it. She examined it, looking for any form of title or telling marks that would explain what it was before slowly she opened it.
The book was a 359 page history of the word "What." Such chapters included a 25 page definition, a 30 page history, and several chapters on the regional uses of the word. And of course. No pictures. Doesn't look like this book will be much help. The red diamond studdedn book, seeme dot go blank immediatly after being read. There was still an infinite amount of books in front of Keans, and still no pegasus.
Blinking, Keans replaced the book back into the shelf that she had retrieved it from. Great, she was in the biggest database of information in equestria which meant her search might end up taking a while. Then again, perhaps it wouldn't? All she had to do was say the name and he could possibly be found. Yeah, that was it, she could find CJ by calling out for him.
"CJ!" She called out, waiting for the shift in the library again and for a new book to come that she could read. This time, hopefully pointing her to her friend.
With the call out of the letters CJ. The book pulled itself back into place and shelves all over started shuffling around. Some completely disappearing. As the process continued, the little grifflet was soon left with two very long bookshelves flanking her. A cursory glace would show that these wear all the books in the library who'se title or subject started with C or J.
With the wind of passing material calming down. A stray sheet of paper floated to the ground with some instructions. The writing was definitly CloudyJack's style.
To use the Gaia Library. 1. Say aloud the General Subject 2. After search slows down, Refine with a new key word. 3. Repeat one more time for best results. 4. If only one book is left, it will float in front and the title will highlight itself. Caution: Do not try to skip ahead in the book or you may get sucked into the book.
Keans picked up the sheet of paper, thinking about how to approach this. She knew she had to think carefully if she wanted to save her friend, and more importantly she had to watch what she said out loud. Last thing she needed was isles of books on the proper use of the word "How" or "What". And, there seemed to be another dimension to all this: She couldn't skip ahead in the books or she risked being sucked into it. And the last thing she needed was this rescue mission going haywire.
It was then she knew what to do.
"CloudyJack Skies. Pegasus. Nerd. Current Location."
She did as the note bid, waiting for the books to slow down before refining her terms and speaking them. She just hoped this idea of hers worked.
The books came fast and furious through the area. Shelf after shelf vanished until it was sorting inividual books right in front of her. Finally after a minute of searching a single blue book floated in the nothing. A bean bag chair underneath it with a coffee table next to it and a can of Red Diamond Almonds. The Table was studded around the edge with red diamonds. The title of the book was A Trial by Storms. The spine stated that the book was written by CloudyJack Skies.
Keans could only blink as she saw the title of the book and it's author. Cloudyjack wrote this book? And, more importantly, Cloudyjack had actually written a book? That was something she hadn't seen ever happening. Then again, she had to remind herself she was in the dream of her friend. A friend who just so happened to have an immense love of books.
Remembering the warnings from before, she sat down on the beanbag and opened the book to the first page before starting to read through it for any clue on where her friend was. And, more importantly, what this book was even about.
With all the books cleared away th entire area had the view of inside a red gem. The books tarted off as all good books do with a little bit about the main character and setting up the scene. It told of Cloudy's parents and family situation, exactly how it was in the real world. The scene of the first chapter had CloudyJack sitting on a bench eating a couple Grass 'ems. The book mentioned normally reading at this point, but his interest was drawn to the shenanigans of a few foals.
As if just reading the story wasn't enough. The scene, as Keans was reading it, was being played in the world around her. The stark white nothing was in the center of Ponyville and the beanbag chair was situated in the center of the mess.
The three foals in the book should seem familiar. The one in the center was a brown unicorn with a white labcoat named Bronze Belle. To his left was a foal that seemed kind of skittish and made up of different shades of gray. He went by the name Silver Lining. On the other side of bronze was a Darker colored foal that seemed to have a fascination with swords. The other two were teasing Silver about a particular fear of apples. Something Cloudyjack had no idea about the cause, though the two kept asking if apples killed his parents.
Behind them was a shifting of grass just before a black and purple Griffin popped out to tackle Bronze "Ninja Style."
Keans blinked in surprise as she saw the scene unfold before them. Was this...no, it couldn't be, could it? "The day we met..." She whispered to herself, but quickly shook her head as she remembered that things hadn't quite played out like this when she had first met the rest of the group.
It had been just after she had first moved here and started going to school. And, as all good meetings went she had actually introduced herself to CJ's friends through the best possible way: A Firecracker in some hapless ponies pocket. Unfortunately, it just so happened that the pony in questions pocket happened to be Bronze, the pony she had just tackled in the image.
Was CJ making the meeting into a story? Possibly, but already there were some differences in how things went. Who was to say the rest of the memory would be quite the same, if even the same at all.
As the story went on, Bronze shifted out and mentioned going to test out his newest invention. As he reached into his lab coat, he pulled out a brick, then a bar, followed by what he was actually looking for, what looked to be a toy laser. "Hey guys, how about we go out to Sweet Apple Acres and try this bad boy out?"
The other seemed interested. The exceptions were CJ and Silver.
"B-but...Bronze. The evil ones live there." Silver stuttered out as he dived under the bench CJ was on.
Shiny walked over and tried to reassure him. "Come on colt. Applejack and Apple Bloom as super nice.
CJ took a bite of his Grass 'em and looked towards Keans. "Besides Silver, Apple are known to gather under benches." To this the timid one ran and hid behind the Ninja Griffin, who postured that she would slice any apples that dropped his way.
Keans couldn't help but blink in surprise as she saw this all start to unfold. They were going to apple acres, not the woods? Perhaps there was a bit more to this story then was first thought, but knowing Bronze she figured something was going to explode. It couldn't be as bad as that one time he tried to build a giant robot, which had quite explosive results to say the least.
I swear, if you kill me off in this CJ...I'm not gonna be happy. The last story she had read of Cloudyjacks had involved a character similar to her being killed by an evil, ancient unicorn that was on a quest for power. She conceded that at-least she had gotten to take out one of the other minions and her rival, but it was still annoying only her character had died.
She read on, hoping for some manner of clue on where her friend was would pop out at her soon.
As the story continued, a second CloudyJack could be seen in the background of the active story. He was sitting there reading a book as well. Reading a book while trapped within a book, weird right? But the pegsus didn't seem to notice that he was infact moving with the background of the story. He was trapped alright. A blissful trap, but a trap none the less. His tail started wagging, showing hsi obvious enthrallment in the book he was currently reading.
Keans spotted the second Cloudyjack, realizing that if there was two of them she knew that the other had to be the real one. Leave it to CJ to be the one that thought a book was more interesting then the reality. She pondered how she would be able to get in, and then remembered something: This was a dream, and as such she could bend the rules at-least a little bit.
With a smirk, she took a breath, trying to clear her head of what she wanted to do before putting the book down on the ground. Taking a breath, she jumped into the air before flying at the opened page, willing herself to pass through the pages and into the story to grab her best friend.
The world of entering the book was a flash of pages. Various pictures iluminating for a split second before crashing into the nexxt page. About a hundred page break throughs later, She came flying into the scene with a bush fast approaching her position. The flight took her into a dive from the sky to the ground. But on a positive note it was a bush near the CJ she was looking for.
