Swift giggled as she followed Azure into the store, looking around as she tried to spot the DIY section. She had to work out how to carry more paint cans, she could carry one in each forehoof and another in her teeth so she could pull her weight, even if they didn't fly all the way home in one go.
Guessing they would have to make some stops and working out the ideal spots to do so in her head, Swift smiled as she spotted paint cans then trotted towards them. She looked around then took a can from the bottom shelf with her teeth, then put it on the ground. "That's going to take some getting used to". She had maneuvered objects with her teeth before, part of the life of a pony without magic telekinetic powers, but getting home was going to be real fun.
She looked around at the cans and smiled. "So, we need blue and yellow paint, right".
azure pulls out his list. well you were halfway there. we need two tan, two yellow, two light blue, and three mahogany paint cans. that will get the first coat and perhaps a second if we become super awesome painters within the next few hours. but im content with a base coat for now. if we dont have enough for a second coat, we can save those paint cans in the extra room until we might need them again.
azure picks one up in his teeth to experiement how it would feel. he could tolerate the flight back with it in his teeth, however, his hooves had yet to be seen. setting it back down, he placed his hoof inside of it, resting it in the nook between his leg and knee and it fit beautifully. so, this is definitely doable. i think we can do this swift. azure smiles as he looks about. they should probably find some help for the best paint about. and tools.
Swift smiled as she pulled the pouch with the bits from the previous night from around her neck, having moved Azure's feather to a different leather necklace. "I've got bits in here still. If we put all our money together I guess we'll have enough money to buy it all".
She grinned as she lifted a paint can in her hooves, noting that while it was heavy she could probably carry at least three cans, more if she carried them with her hindlegs as well. "I think I should be able to carry one with each leg, although we may have to stop once on the way". She smiled. "Shall we look for some assistance?".
I...thought I was carrying most of it...Azure seems slightly confused as Swift walks by, quickly snapping out of his revere. Yea, yes we shall go find some assistance. I'm not even sure what paint is best suited for us financially and over a period of time. Azure watches her go for a moment, admiring the view before catching up, bumping her with his flank upon appearing beside her.
The store was bustling today. A lot of ponies were walking about the store, from what Azure could gather, they were getting ready for the fall weather or buying paint like Swift and Azure were doing today. The store had a high rise ceiling with LED lights shining the way down low for the ponies. The floor was made of concrete and to Azure's delight, the place seemed to be light aired today. As Azure looked about, everywhere around the tops of the ceiling, panels were cut out so the outside air could breach the inside, providing the beautiful weather from the outside.
Seems like we'll be able to enjoy the weather a bit today. Azure can't help but to smile. The weather was soon to become more favorable for him and less so for Swift...least to his knowledge. He loved flying in the winter time as long as his wings would allow it. Though, now that he was in a safe environment with nothing to prove to anyone but Swift, perhaps he could cut that aspect out of his life unless he absolutely needed to fly. He's heard Canterlot gets pretty cold in the winter time and made a few notes to go fly by there and experience it for himself.
Azure can hear Swift asking an assistant or help when it comes to what paint they should use. However, he was a bit lost in his own little world. He had never experienced a building that allowed the airflow from outside to travel inside as willingly as the store was at the particular moment in time. I'm still not used to this place, we'd see this as a danger where as this land is so safe....why not have buildings made like this. It's so pleasant and enjoyable.
Swift had spoken to a assistant who had explained what they needed. The pony gave her a idea of how much paint they would need for the rooms. By her reckoning with the money that she had as well as the money Azure had they would just have enough for all they needed.
She walked back to Azure and smiled as she stopped next to some paint cans. "The assistant was telling me that these paints only need one coat of paint so we should be able to get the place done twice as quickly".
She smiled. "I think we have the money to get the paint and all the rest of the stuff we need".
Azure shakes his head, looking back towards Swift. We only need one coat of paint. Only one? Swift nods excitedly, taking Azure's hoof as they follow the assistant to the painting isle of the store. Azure followed as so many ponies were walking up and down the aisles themselves. He could swear he heard soft uplifting music coming from a speaker from above as they walked about. The paint isle had been located towards the back right section of the store. However, the tools were located an aisle over, which wasn't any big deal.
The assistant pointed to a section of paint cans which seemed to fit Azure's idea perfectly. He wanted the paint to look nice and last long enough for the two of them to eventually be able to own a home together in the far future. Right now however, their nice home on the outskirts of town was perfect. Their house sat alone though with Azure and Swift having rented this property, there was the possibility that neighbors could be arriving upon the completion of possible future construction. He secretly hoped they wouldn't however. He could watch the sunrise and sunset with the nice clearing of land around their home. The sunset was more appealing from the clouds but watching the sunrise with a cup of coffee while sitting on the back balcony/patio *not a two story home but isn't large enough to be considered a patio x3* was magical.
The assistant then takes them over to the section with the tools they were going to need to paint effectively. She showed them paint brushes, rollers, pans for the rollers, tape, and tarp for the flooring so they didn't get any paint on the floors. Especially carpet, that'd could create a disaster. Azure had no intention of cutting up carpet then placing more back down anytime soon. The paint war would have to be carefully gone about. Tarp, lots of it. Regardless, they had the tools they needed and the paint as well. Azure and Swift both thanked the assistant as she took off, now being left to themselves to get their items they needed. Azure leans over to give Swift a sneaky kiss on the cheek before taking a look at the tools.
Swift smiled as she kissed Azure, then sighed as she looked at the tools. "I was not expecting to need so many tools". Thoughts of the logistics of carrying all the tools and the paint cans home flashed through her mind. She was guessing it would be a case of making two trips, possibly just her making the first trip since Azure seemed Tartarus-bent on carrying more than his fair share of cans.
She started pulling down the needed tools, doing calculations since she knew how much the paint was going to cost per can. She knew how much coin was in her pouch and had a good idea of how much Azure had so she guessed she had sufficient funds to pay for everything they needed. With them, by her reckoning needing less cans than she had expected the whole thing should work out.
She smiled as she noted the amount of tools they needed before adding the cans of paint then looked at Azure. "I'm starting to think we'll have more trouble getting the brushes and stuff back home than we will have getting the paint home".
Azure wanted to agree but had to ind out for himself. So just to see what it'd look like, Azure placed all of the items in his rucksack, finding out quickly that he'd only be able to fit a can of paint in there and not two. It wasn't a significant change, but it would mean Swift would have to carry another paint can. If she could do it. If not, then he could space everything out for two trips instead of one. Unless of course he forgot they might not need as much paint as once thought.
Seems to fit in here pretty well, I can fit one can in here....and if we don't need quite as much paint as we had once thought, then that shouldn't be a problem. That being said, we should also be saving a few bits due to the fact we won't need as much. So....the living room needs two, kitchen needs one, dining room needs one, and the bedroom needs two. So that leaves us with six. If you wanna carry two I can carry the rest. Plus with us carrying the paint cans with our legs, we wouldn't have to use our teeth.
This was doable. The assistant proved to be pretty useful after all. Taking the tools out of his rucksack, he places them in a buggy they had brought along with them. He didn't wanna have it look like they were stealing and there was no sense in carrying everything quiet so early. So Azure placed the items in the buggy then looked to Swift with a grin. The extra bits could go to groceries for the week, considering they were running slightly low on them as it was.
Well, I'm not even sure what I expected, all I know is is that we have the right tools we need to get the job done. The tarp was probably one of the things we should have known but I believe the only carpeted rooms in the house were our bedroom and the empty room so it's not like we'll need it too often. Plus, if the roof ever gets a leak in it, we can fly overhead with the tarp and secure it in place so the leak doesn't continue. Azure pushes the buggy over to Swift, giving her a quick winghug and smile as he passes. To the paint shall we?
Swift grinned as she walked over to the paint then looked around, spotting the mahogany paint. She took off and flew vertically until she reached the level where the cans were. She picked up a can in her hoof and increased the beats of her wings to maintain her altitude as she descended and put the can into the buggy.
She looked over at Azure and smiled. "I think I'm gettimg used to the weight of the cans". There was a thought occuring to her as she pondered everything which was happening. She smiled. "I think I can probably carry one in my teeth. I've been trying to build my strength up and doing this is not going to hurt".
Azure smiles at Swift, watching her fly with the mahogany paint can. Now that I think about it, it might benefit her if she were to carry a few of these. Speed and agility are nice and all, but strength is another nice benefit she could eventually give to the Wonderbolts when she makes it IF she chooses to go with the Wonderbolts. I don't want to push her in that direction should she want to live a different lifestyle, but they have provided her with a great start to her new life and I'll never be able to thank them enough.
Ok, so split it down the middle? I'll carry three and you carry three? Azure asks this as he flies up to a few light blue colors, looking for a slightly vibrant color. Once he finds it, the yellow is just a bit horizontal of the blues, making it easy for him to fly over there as Swift grabs the second mahogany paint can. Carrying both paint cans down, he quickly rears back up to avoid two ponies running about, to his guess, playing tag or racing. He can't help but to laugh at the two as he sets his paint cans in the buggy. One day I hope my child will be able to enjoy themselves like they are. Nothing of my childhood.
Swift picked out the last two of the cans and put them in the buggy as she watched the two ponies running about. She landed next to Azure as she felt a slightly odd feeling. She had never really felt any desire to bring another life into the world. If anything, the way her life had been had led her to not even think about it. Now that she had a job, a home and a pony who she loved with all her heart she felt a little bit differently.
She guessed that she was feeling broody because of everything which had been happening recently and hoped to a degree that it would die down eventually because they were in no real position to look after a foal and all her deep-down wishing to hear the clip-clop of tiny hooves were just a pipe-dream until they could get more stability. Besides, with her background she didn't even know if she might pass something bad onto any offspring she had from her parents, whoever they were.
Realizing that she may have zoned out for a moment, Swift glanced at Azure and smiled. "Sorry, I was just thinking about something".
Azure watches Swift place the buckets into the buggy, seemingly lost in thought. While she's thinking, he places a wing around her as he counts the paint cans. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6. That should be everything. I wonder what Swift is being so thoughtful of right now. Once he finishes counting the paint, he turns back to see the same two foals weaving in and out of aisles. At this point, he had no idea what they were playing. They seemed to never run out of energy.
Azure looks back down at Swift who had finally came out of her thoughts with a smile. Sorry, I was just thinking about something. Azure giggles before ruffling Swift's mane a bit. Well that much seemed apparent Swifty. Must've been a pretty heavy thought for it to have taken so long. I hope it was nothing too troubling. Tis been a good day thus far to be feeling troubled. Perhaps I could shed some light on it? Azure begins to push the buggy, Swift following beside him as they make their way to the front of the store.
Swift looked at Azure as she pondered what to tell him about how she felt. While she was wanting to eventually have foals she was in no particular hurry to get started. The problem was that she was unsure how Azure would react to her feeling a little clucky.
She glanced at Azure and smiled. "I was just feeling like it would be nice to have foals of our own". She blushed. "I never thought I would ever want to hear the clip-clop of little hooves and I'm in no hurry but I think I may be starting to feel broody".
Azure leans over to give Swift an affectionate nuzzle. I don't think I could blame ya for feeling such a way. The past few weeks have been a one of a kind. As much as the sounds of little clip clops are desirable, we do need to pave the way for them to live happy lives as they grow up. If our happiness thus far is anything to signify for things to come, you're broodiness's desire shall become satisfied in due time.
Also, don't forget about the fact we're both pegasi, and with that, means if we were to have young right now they too would be pegasi. With pegasi comes feathers that molt. That process for me was....startling to say the least. Azure giggles as he allows an employee to check the items *because the writer is unsure if they have item check scanners or conveyor belts*, pricing all of the items quickly. I'm unsure of how it went for you, but hopefully a lot less panicky than I.
I however....do not feel I am ready to become a father. There's a few issues and goals I wish to solve and obtain before we begin to travel down the road of parenthood. Obviously, I want financial security for a family and not just the two of us. I reckon it's never too early to start preparing for such a life. With...being the youngest of my adopted family however, I am unsure on how to be a parent. My brother practically was a father from the get go but I....was more of the baby brother with a chip on his shoulder. Also....there's the issue that I need to suppress my rising aggression within me. I do not wish to be aggressive, I wanted peace, reason for me coming to this land. It's going to take some time to change to the new environment, and I am willing to take the time it takes to adjust. I feel when I am able to, the aggressiveness will disappear. It's nothing I am worried about and knew it would most likely take some time to settle in. I believe it is a part of me expecting a fight yet there is never one. Eventually I will rest. Azure gives Swift a kiss on the forehead before looking back towards the items. Especially with your help~.
Swift smiled as she looked over at Azure. "I know what you mean. I'm in no hurry to have children. I think I've got no idea about being a parent, I never knew my parents, I don't even know who they are or were". She looked down and frowned. "I know we need to take time, make some money and get more stability".
She nuzzled Azure. "I guess we've both got issues to deal with. We can deal with them". She kissed him on the cheek then blushed as she noted the assistant had spotted her. "Together".
