#Powers and Abilities ; Lavender is able to use minor healing magic (equivalent to first aid) and complex botanical magic. She can bring plants to life or make flowers bloom for a short time before their season, although this kind of magic simply transfers her life force to another pony or plant. She is very skilled with telekinesis, enough so that she can make splints and treat delicate wounds with ease as well as brew potions.
Lavender is also capable of using her magic to detect and remove poison, but only poison that occurs within plants. Equally, she has a natural affinity for botany and is skilled at caring for and cultivating plants. Her ability works best with plants that have medicinal properties and she is capable of making balms and oils and various kinds of medicine. However, she can only do this with plants and recipes she has studied or specifically made from trial and error.
#Physique ; Lavender is about a few centimeters taller than the average adult mare. Equally, she is slightly heavier too. Still, she is fairly healthy from doing hard work in her greenhouse of sorts.
#Mane and fur color and style ; Lavender’s hair is medium-length, barely touching the end of her neck. It is wavy and colored green like grass in a meadow, with magenta highlights she made using a flower dye.
#Eye color ; Teal
#Other appearance details (optional) ; She pins a flower in her hair from one of the many blossoms she grows in her greenhouse.
#A more thorough description (optional) ;N/A
#Personality ;
Lavender Blossom is a pony that comes across as polite or distant but is uncharacteristically clingy when she finds someone she truly cares about deeply. She used to have a more adventurous personality but lost it in her need to be cautious in places that aren't too familiar to her. However, the unicorn mare is still as kind and enthusiastic about her work as ever, and she loves working with foals. Often at times, she pontificates when teaching because she knows so much about potion brewing and botany from her parents, but she's not too familiar with not too much else. However, Lavender is quick to warm up to any town she stays in and on her way to her aunt and uncle's place, she has developed a love for traveling, especially in places where no one knows her. To this pony, traveling is like getting a clean slate. in her traveling with Sanguine Requiem.
But growing plants and making potions and teaching aren't the only things she enjoys. Lavender loves listening to classical music because she is a terrible singer yet a great fan of music anyway, and she studies briefly the history of the towns she and her companion travel through. Her favorite desserts are Earl Grey macarons and would like to learn how to bake them, even if she's not too good about it. While she has a perfectly good hygiene, Lavender does not invest much time in her appearance aside from that, and if she does put any effort, it's usually into dying her hair or pinning a pretty flower behind her ear.
This unicorn mare is often very insightful and intuitive and is fairly bright, even though she has no interests in athletic pursuits. Before she thought she was the best at dealing with relationship troubles, but now Lavender has lost confidence in that due to closing up and various arguments and things nopony could control in the relationships and friendships that had failed. That and no viable options for romance were available. The two had become fairly fatalistic about their love life and their friendships overall, only sticking with each other after drifting apart for so long due to the proposal Sanguine had made. Thus, Lavender, while socially competent and friendly, did not make many friends. On the other hand, Sanguine Requiem had more luck and made many, many friends while not being very close to any of them.
Unfortunately, Lavender is still quite provincial, and while she is fairly astute and will be a survivor if needed be, she is also cowardly and easily worried in contrast to the shy yet experimental pony she was when she was a filly. Regardless, when she sets her mind on one single thing, which she usually does, Lavender can accomplish anything she wants. Even though she isn't too good with anypony her age, she forges deep bonds with younger ponies and mentor figures she may have. Currently, she wants to become a teacher at Celestia's School for Gifted Unicorns, the school her mother had attended because it's the only prestigious unicorn school she knows. For now, though she would just take things easy and not rush things, attempting to get a job as a teacher's aide for now.
#History ;
Young Lavender Blossom was the second youngest foal born to Fern, younger sister to an heiress to a trustworthy but not famous potion brewery, and Poppy, a skilled botanist, in Fillydelphia. Two older brothers were born before her: Tansy first, Blackberry second. A few years after Lavender’s birth, Sage was born. There was never a dull moment within their family.
Fern was originally born in Canterlot, and she fell in love with Poppy during a visit to Fillydelphia, on a way to visit some old pegasi friends. They married and had their two sons in Canterlot before deciding to move back to Fillydelphia because there was a lot of land, which they decided to make their home on.
The two sons, being old enough to use magic, discovered their penchant for growing plants, whether it would be for helping with building construction or producing paper and the like. Lavender’s brothers grew up to be pragmatic; the older one, very suited for becoming a civil servant, cultivated only the sturdiest of trees to produce the best wood for building material whereas the younger, more scholarly brother, started a paper-making business.
The importance of these two young stallions’ successes, however, lied in that they could not have achieved their dreams without the help of their friends. They traveled far and wide to search for kindred spirits, ones that had the same goals as them. It was not easy, and sometimes things didn’t work out, but in the end, their aspirations were met.
Lavender, as a young filly, was expected to have high hopes too and the ability to bring them to life. She, however, was an introverted pony, and it seemed she could never truly reach out to others outside of her family. When Sage was born, the older filly became quite protective of her baby sister until Sage became old enough to make her own reputation, unintentionally giving the rest of her family the cold shoulder. This saddened Lavender, but it gave her an important wake up call she would never forget.
Struggling, she sought to make friends with an eccentric but kind hearted earth pony who lived by herself next door. She was a rust red filly with curly black hair and no cutie mark. The pony’s name was Sanguine Requiem. Sanguine, was odd by many standards, being rather cheerful but fatalistic at times and a little manipulative too, but she was kind and generous and smart. While she and Sanguine had very different personalities, Lavender grew to love the friend she met one day by simply tripping into her. At times, she could be jealous too, such as when Sanguine got her cutie mark first or when it became less deniable that Sanguine was able to get along with just about everyone.
Thankfully, it did not stop Lavender from caring about her friend because it was also undeniable they cared about each other the most. They got in a huge fight because Lavender couldn’t express her feelings, but when it ended up with them being very lonely, even though Lavender tried to bury herself in her schoolwork and Sanguine was with her other friends, Lavender got the courage to tell her true feelings — all of them — and did her best to repair their relationship.
Although fillyhood was overall a pleasant time in Lavender’s life, there came a time when she had to get her cutie mark and find out what she wanted to do and what made her special. The filly was a late bloomer, but the story of how Lavender got her cutie mark began when her parents had decided to use some of their savings and compile it with some other interested parties to create a greenhouse and staff it. Various ponies had been interested in having a place for cultivating various kinds of flowers, herbs berries, and fruit for quite some time, and with the aid of some of the weather pegasi, the city could create a center where endangered plant species could be cared for and where botany and all kinds of plants, edible and otherwise could be studied.
Unfortunately, even with perfect control over weather conditions and with a large reservoir of elemental magic, it still would take much resources to get the project done. So while there was much support for such an idea, it remained only an idea for so long. Now, Lavender wouldn't have too much to do with such a project, as admirable as it was for her, until she made friends with one of the younger unicorns, who had wandered upon her family's front lawn by accident while playing. During this time, Lavender had been studying for school as well as practicing her individual ability to try and make a wilted house plant come back to life. This was an ability passed down to her by her father.
The unicorn became curious as to how Lavender had used her magic. At first, the younger filly was disappointed she didn't have the knack with plants that Lavender and her family have, but she was also a chipper little fellow, eager to learn about the house plant Lavender had revitalized for a short amount of time. Delightedly but calmly, Lavender gave a concise summary of what the plant was, its purpose, and any important facts about it. The two even ended up talking about the other plants on her yard and how hard it was to care for it even in a temperate climate Fillydelphia had, and the unicorn who she met by chance, left having learned a lot.
It was only then she realized she wanted to teach other ponies more about botany and their relationship with nature using the much desired greenhouse, but Lavender didn't earn her cutie mark from this. When she had graduated from school, ponies suddenly became afflicted with allergies from newly fully grown lime trees whose seeds had been brought to the city several years ago by birds and were allowed to grow into new trees.
Everypony seemed in a disarray because they didn't know what they were allergic to. However, they were very much aware that these allergies were normal and nonlethal. Poppy and Fern set out to make allergy symptom-treating medicines. Because they were so busy, they had no time to do research on what actually caused the allergy. The symptoms of the allergy were sensitivity to light and depression.
Her brothers out of town, and her sister too wrapped up with studying, Lavender took it upon herself to search her family's old collection of books in the attic and found one on basic allergies and toxins for ponies. With the help of Sanguine, Lavender managed to spread the news verbally and with fliers, earning the thanks of many. The town removed the lime trees and replaced them with granny smith trees, because no one could have too much of those. Thing settled down quickly after then, until Lavender received a mysterious token of gratitude, a bag of flower seeds. When Lavender decided to plant them and care for them on that very day, her cutie mark appeared as a soft pink mandevilla blossom.
Afterwards, Lavender and Sanguine spent a lot of time in Fillydelphia and slowly drifted away, studying and working to get their dream jobs: Lavender as a Herbology teacher and Sanguine as a holiday party coordinator. So far, they had very little opportunities, with Lavender as a home tutor and Sanguine being only asked to host a few friends' parties. Her family also spent time trying to garner support for the new greenhouse by sending letters to various contacts, asking for sponsorship and assistance. However, not too much was given. When the pink mandevillas bloomed one year from when she got her cutie mark, Lavender was asked by Sanguine to rekindle their friendship and join her on a journey to help them find their prized job positions and maybe even gather proper support for the greenhouse her parents and their friends so desperately wanted.
Lavender agreed, and she told her family. At first, they were wary because Lavender didn't know too much about the world around her. However, Sanguine hadn't lived in Fillydelphia her entire life and knew her way around pretty well. As long as the two mares traveled together, Lavender's family gave their blessing and suggested she visited them often and stayed at her aunt Majoram and her uncle Oregano's quaint little townhouse for the time being in Ponyville. Now, Sanguine Requiem and Lavender have set out on a journey they never dreamed they would be going on before, but they knew things would be alright. However, their reasonings went beyond that. The neighborhood the two lived in was small, and they were sick of being nobodies even in a place like that. They also wanted to escape the memories of friends that drifted away or left on their own accord. Nothing too bad went on with the romance aspect of their relationships either, but they couldn't find anyone they were interested in Fillydelphia.The Roleplayer's Corner

#Sample RP ;Lavender Blossom stood at the front of her classroom, writing down her name with purple chalk using telekinesis. Beaming at her students, she introduced herself promptly:
"So, welcome, everypony, to my Herbology and Potions class! Do you have any questions?"
"Yeah, I do! Why do you teach both Herbology and Potions, Miss Lavender?" inquired a young colt in one of the front desks.
"This school isn't as prestigious as Celestia's school, but it's quite illustrious anyway. Thus, the ponies in charge want you to have classes available there here too, even if there's not enough staff or rooms to teach these classes individually. I'm skilled at both potions' brewing and herbology so tadah: here I am as your teacher!" replied Lavender with a smile. She then hushed the students down as they kept on asking questions, one after another. As efficiently as she could, Lavender answered each and every question thoroughly until she was completely exhausted. These young foals were just too curious! However, a curious mind was great for approaching life in Equestria, as long as they kept their hearts open and worked hard and did their best.
For now though... Lavender had done her best and worked hard to answer a one-sided game of ping-pong, with no chance of her own to ask her own students to introduce themselves when they patiently awaited her answers. So then... How would such a predicament be remedied? Perhaps, she could perform some flood control. "Alright, guys! One last question and that's it! Next, we'll introduce ourselves and then begin studying your vocabulary for the day: eighteen common medicinal herbs. I'm only writing them down once so copy them down well."
The students talking amongst themselves with excitement, only one orange filly with flaxen hair managed to pop out the last question. "Excuse me, but what's that plant for?" Now, what could the little filly be talking about... There were no plants out on the windowsill connecting to the patio... except for that giant Venus flytrap! It might have looked harmless but if the janitors forgot to feed the plant its due meals during the holidays like she had told them to (and even personally mailed them the appropriate feed), then the flytrap would be hungry enough to try and snap somepony's head off, now that the window was open! Thankfully, the patio the larger plants were on was far too high up to snatch up someone down below.
With a tight smile, the unicorn mare used her magic to extend the vines of one of the hanging potted plants in the classroom and use them to pull the young and inquisitive filly back into her seat before the youngling decided to touch the possibly dangerous plant. Using telekinesis, Lavender then shut the window and locked the patio doors. Later on, after class ended in about a few minutes, she would do a more thorough inspection of her giant venus flytrap's hunger.
To her relief, with a very meaty and chunky bag of feed, the plant was satisfied afterwards, when the unicorn pony levitated its meal to it at a safe distance.
