Compass chuckled a bit in satisfaction as the hydra was put into dire straights, and hoped that he Lazuli-Snake would be satisfied after feasting on such a monstrosity. It would have certainly been more filling that he'd ever be. The Hydra thrashed, trying to free itself from the grip of the snake, only to find itself suddenly relieved from the giant snake. It stayed silent for a while, all three heads staring blankly at the sky before looking around, only until they all locked eyes on Lazuli Rose, as the scaled rained down around them.
The Hydra had been bamboozled! There was no giant snake at all! It was this filly, a filly that insulted it by acting against its need to feed!
Compass's heart sank when he saw that Lazuli Rose had turned back to normal. He was glad she was back to pony form...but at such an inopportune time?! The colt watched as a scale fell near him, and he stared for an instant, but in his head, it felt like forever. He could use it against the hydra...but what would he do after?!
The three heads growled at Lazuli and with the good leg, flung her away from it, but it took care not to let it get too close to its butter-lunch! The Hydra would crush the butter-colt's spirit before eating him! And what better way than to eat the filly that was protecting him? No doubt that the filly would be so focused on it that Compass was all but invisible to her.
Not good! Compass thought, his magic instinctively grabbing the scale as he got to his hooves, and violating all semblence of common sense, he charged at the hydra, scale in telekinetic grip. "Get down!" He didn't even have time to call out a proper warning as he had to prime himself for what he was about to do. This might change me forever, I know it didn't last for Lazuli....but.. he pondered, taking into account the scale could be different. No...NO! There wasn't time to worry! He had to act now! He smacked the scale onto his right foreleg, as if putting on a greave as he dived, though he thought of some fun last words as a colt...Something he knew would be appropriate for such a reckless tactic, and...Oh to heck with it, he just always wanted to say this!
"HENSHIN-A-GO-GO-FILLY!" he called out, and what was in the literal blink of an eye for Lazuli Rose, several moments were stretched out for Compass as he experienced the almost euphoric sensation brought about by the scale! He felt a surge of energy course through him as he almost felt dissociated from his body, he was alone in a pitch-black space as he viewed it. He could even hear some rather catchy music playing the scale glowed and suddenly the foal's body was shifted to that of a snake, with glowing blue eyes in the mind-scape. This was all in his head, however, as the scale resonated with the unicorn, and once Lazuli's blink-of-an-eye was over, the Hydra that aimed to snatch her up with its jaws was met by a heavy blow from the tail of a new white snake as it had contorted itself to give a sort of lariat-style attack!
Compass definitely felt himself making contact as a giant snake! Everything looked so small to him this time around...He had to admit, he felt amazing, being in such a position of power! The serpent's body felt so natural to him, he didn't have to struggle at all! Was...Lazuli aware of this kind of sensation when she transformed? If so, Compass had reason to be wary of her, but if not...No, now wasn't the time to worry about a filly's motives, nor the time to get drunk with power! The foal-turned-giant snake had to focus on bringing a swift end to the Hydra. He tried contorting his body to gather the three heads together in one place, but unsurprisingly it began to struggle.
The snake settled for lunging and biting the beast on its bad leg, using momentum to swing the hydra around, and as it screeched in agony from the rather dirty tactic before being slammed into a half-sunk boulder, released from its adversary's grasp. The three heads shook themselves out of their collective daze, staring at the creature that was supposed to be its lunch.
Compass was fighting back rather powerful urges to rush in and consume the beast. While it would be rather fun to eradicate this thing...Compass began to feel sorry for the creature's humiliation. He glared at the hydra before rising up a little, opening his maw once more and unleashing an unholy mixture of a hiss and a rage-filled roar. The Hydra finally got the hint through its thick skulls. 'Dis maniac be out for blood, yo!', and comically fled.
Satisfied with his victory, Compass looked around and lowered himself, and his gaze, to Lazuli, hissing softly as if trying to confirm that everything was going to be alright now.
