Argentum was curled up over a trunk in what could only be described as a tall pile of snow, carved into a cave. He stretched his wings, arms, and legs wide, yawning as the morning sun shone into his 'cave.' He remained lazy for a few moments until a song hit his ears. Causing him to blink awake and listen more closely.
Argentum stood, walking out of the cave and looking about at the ponies working to clean up piles of snow and ice, the sun starting to cause some of it to melt. He thought for a moment, realizing if they take the snow melting into their own hooves, his cave was going to be gone by the end of the day. So, now, he had to find somewhere new.
The Ponies had gotten used to him, for the most part, being around. Some still gave him a bit of a wide berth, but he still helped out a bit, helping clear out larger banks of snow by diving into them and flaring his wings out to scatter the snow, the ponies cleaning it up quickly.
So now, he had to find a home that he could use once his own home melted. First goal: Finding the mayor through all this Wrapping up of Winter. How hard could /that/ be?

Malice, as always, was buried within a book she had started just this week. Ponies were always so uneasy around her kind, usually giving her room to herself as she walked through the town. She flicked the page gently, making sure her talon didn't cut the edge of the page or harm the leather bound tome she was so enthralled with: It was a curious and wonderful tale about a Pony that was born elderly and grew younger instead of growing older.
"It is incredible how authors are able to conceive such wonderful ideas. Our legends are so dull and simple by comparison." A flash of blue moving from the corner of her eye made her look up from her book, causing the dragoness to stop in her tracks.
While expression remained calm, her eyes would widen just slightly: A dragon was here, one that was neither herself or her sibling. If he was here, that meant he was an exile like her. And if he was exiled, that meant he did something wrong. A million thoughts begun flashing through the dragoness' head: Was he a thief, a murderer, was he just a dragon that was passing through and not an exile as she believed? He could be a nice dragon and here she was thinking such vile theories up about him! What was she to do?
All the while, she would just stare at the dragon, frozen in place with her book held open and at her side in her left talon.
Ari had found a few foals working to break a large snowbank with some small shovels, trying to help the larger ponies out. Ari snuck his way into the snowbank on the opposite side of the foals and opened his wings, and stretched wide, causing the snowbank to shake and shift, the foals shovels digging into it much easier, and allowing them to clear out the snow much better.
He had caught sight of the mayor darting past to check something and turned to follow her, stopping when his nose was suddenly pressed against another nose, his lips pressed against another set of scaly lips. He was still for a few moments before realizing what was going on, causing him to stumble back a bit. "Er um, where, why... Sorry! I wasn't paying attention and... You're another dragon, here? You're not the 'Spike' that the Librarian spoke of. You're too tall... And too feminine and... Er, I'm Argentum." Ari finally ended up sputtering out at his quick-fire speaking, flustered for one reason or another.
He shook his head and stood back up, letting the snow that he had fallen into stick to him a little, not minding the cold. "Argentum, but friends call me Ari." He said, his tone finally calming down. "It's nice to meet another dragon here, actually, I thought I would be one of the only two in this town." He said, noting the book and attempting to get a look at the title and/or author.
Malice had definitely not been expecting that turn of events. The Dragon she had spied had turned rather suddenly and planted himself against her face, lips against hers. Quickly, she pulled backwards, hugging the book close to her as she watched the other dragon for a moment try to collect himself.
The sudden, if accidental, show of affection brought back memories she had tried her best to keep suppressed. She remembered how last time had panned out with other dragons and, as such, was not exactly sure about this new dragon in town. The mention of another dragon besides herself and her sister did nothing to raise her spirits in the slightest. "I...see."
Her reply was simple, albeit probably in more of a detached tone then she wanted. She would give a quick incline of her head at the others introduction. "My name is Malice. My sister and I are merely passing through and staying here for the time being, we do not know if we intend to stay here on a permanent basis or not." She paused."I must confess it is rare that I discover a dragon this far into pony territories aside from my sibling. You must have been here for quite some time if you are as resistant to the cold as you appear to be, most dragons where I hail from loathe the winter season and the coming snow. Not without reason, fire has great difficulty igniting in such cold climates."
She was definitely well-spoken, that much was for certain.
Ari did let out a light sigh of relief when the dragon didn't tear his face off for the accidental transgression, and seemed to be willing for it to be forgotten. He swished his tail, finishing the breaking of a nearby snowbank as the Ponies shuffled to move the snow. He listened to her speaking.
When she was done he smiled slightly. "It's nice to meet you. I've been in this town since the fall... Which was an interesting sensation in itself. Where I was born, the area is locked in a perpetual winter due to the mountains." He said with a nod, pulling out a book and opening it to the second page. A rough sketch of the world as he'd seen it so far. "I've been travelling for a few years, sort of a pilgrimage to learn about other cultures. And as for the familiarity with the cold..." He paused, intaking a bit of a breath and breathing it out into his hand, holding up what seemed to be a flower made from ice.
He gently held it out for her to take as his eyes fell on the book she had been holding. Dragons he'd bumped into in the past wouldn't read a book, let alone clutch it protectively like she had. He thought for a few moments, figuring it must be a favorite of hers, or she had been a scholar and didn't want the book to get hurt. "What are you reading?" He asked, a simple question to gauge her protectiveness of said book.
Malice gave a simple nod of understanding as the dragon across from her explained his purpose for being here, as well as his origins from a land of perpetual winter. When he produced the flower from his ice breath, another curious ability she had not expected, she blinked. "You're an Ice Dragon. This explains your affinity for the colder climate that we now find ourselves in."
At the mention of the book, she perked up notably."It is a curious tale of one pony named Button. It is interesting, about a pony that ages backwards. While such a phenomena is entirely Impossible, it is still a very interesting read."
She did find it curious that this dragon seemed to actually be curious about the book rather then mock her for it. Most dragons were not interested in reading anything, although her sister did have a love for comic books which Malice swore would rot her sisters brain.
Argentum smiled and nodded, chuckling slightly. "I've got Affinity with the cold, but there is one problem I run into. My cave used to be carved into a Glacier, so I've grown accustomed to sleeping in Ice. With spring rolling through here, my home is quickly melting." He said, opening his arms slightly. "That's why I'm helping out, hoping I'll catch a glimpse of the Mayor and work out a deal for a new home." He explained.
When she explained the book, Ari nodded, knowing exactly what she was talking about. The book was in the library back at Winters Rest, and Ari read it all the time! When she brought up the thought of it being impossible, Argentum smiled to her. "I've read the book once or twice. I wouldn't call it entirely impossible. Just highly improbable. With Progeria the way it is, causing a rapid aging, I wouldn't be surprised if there could be a similar condition that does that, and slowly regresses as the foal ages." He explained, continuing his movement through Ponyville.
"It's nice to find another dragon that cares about knowledge instead of caring about strength. My mother was always kind and compassionate, but my father was your run of the mill Red... When I became of age, he challenged me for control of the cave." Argentum said, shaking his head. "I won, but I gave the control to my Mother, and went elsewhere, as a Pilgrimage of sorts, learning about other Ponies. I've ran into a few bad Dragons, too... And stopped them from using their size and strength against the ponies." He said with a sigh before clearing his throat. "But you don't want to hear about that!" He said turning to Malice.
"When you get older, and settle into a cave... What do you think will be the most prominent thing in your horde?" He asked, unsure if other dragons thought of that when they were younger or not. "I want my Horde to be a Horde of Books, knowledge from all over the world. And of course, I wouldn't keep all of it to myself... Should ponies wish to visit, and increase their own knowledge, who am I to turn them away?" He had stars in his eyes, and big dreams, that was obvious on his face. But there was also just a hint of doubt that it would ever work.
"I have given my own horde very little thought if I am to be honest. In truth, I simply travel with my sister." She didn't really know what to do regarding making a horde. She hadn't considered getting a cave or carving out a part of the world for herself, finding it difficult to settle anywhere due to the events that had transpired."If I am to be honest, Mr. Argentum I am not sure I will create any horde or caves for quite some time. I find staying in one place to be uncomfortable, especially as the world is still so full of mystery to me.”
The dragoness nodded when he explained what he wanted to do with his horde. “I'm sure many scholars would be grateful for your generosity. It is rare to find dragons willing to part with a single coin of their hordes, let alone knowledge thought lost or difficult to acquire.”
Argentum chuckled lightly as Malice spoke. "I'm not going to settle down for quite some time either. But It's always something I think about. The future, no matter how long that'll take." He said, Stretching out a bit. "But yeah. I'm sure it'll help ponies in the future."
He paused, looking at a pile of snow and giving it a slap of his tail to disturb it, scattering it around so it'd melt easier. "This'll be the first time I'll have seen a winter actually thaw. Winters Rest is perpetually winter." He said, spotting the mayor in the distance. As he started to make his way toward her, a few ponies happened past, causing him to stop as the Mayor disappeared around another corner.
"Whelp. Looks like I'll have to find her again..." He said with a sigh. "Who knew it'd be this hard to find somewhere to stay in Ponyville, huh?" He chuckled, continuing his walk.
