The train came to a slow stop at a station in the quaint town of Gallop. The Engineer had gotten sick and couldn't control the train for the rest of the time for the trip. The conductor told the passangers ther would be a two hour lay over. Departing the platform. The Pinkie Party pony went for a walk to see the sights. Her blind date was over very quickly so why not get her money out of this trip? Her quick walk took her to a small cafe near Sunshine Canyon. The view was amazing, not Grand.
But as one might expect, with a train full of passengers who have two hours to kill, it was packed solid. Sighing bit, she looked around and saw another little diner not to far away. Low business. The menu seemed pretty simple. A lot wraps and tacos. She just had to figure out what to have it filled with.

That little insect had told her about a hive in this part of the world. She had to locate it and make sure it wasn't a threat. That much was for sure... But where in Tartarus was she now? She looked around, standing in the middle of nowhere, trying to catch her bearings. She noticed a set of tracks nearby and followed near them, until a town slowly appeared in the distance.
As she made her way into town, she blinked. The town was relatively small, but there were a lot of ponies milling about. She grinned happily, was this a tourist trap? This day may turn out better than expected, she may have found a nice place for some of her army to get a quick bite to eat.
As she was working her way through the crowd, her coat a deep blue and her mane a lilac color, a flash of pink caught her eye and she turned. Walking away from the bulk of the crowd, to a less busy restaurant, was a pony she recognized. One of the six ponies that assisted Cadence and caused her plan to fail. The others MUST HAVE Been nearby, but for the time being, Chrysalis grinned, making her way over to the Pink Mare, planning on doing what she could to tear the party pony down a few pegs. "Hello, dear. Quite a crowd, isn't it?" She said nonchalantly as she approached the same food stand, looking it over. "You look familiar, you're not from Canterlot, are you?" She asked with a little smile.
It was tough for the pink mare to decide. Did she want the Lime Cilantro Portobello Tacos, Cider Battered Avocado Tacos with Fresh Corn Salsa, or the Refried Bean Tacos? Wait there was the combination special. One of each and an order of Tortilla chips and salsa verde. Winner. But as she was about to step up to place her order she was called to by a deep blue pony. Smiling to her, she stopped and turned to her, not placing her order, much to the annoyment of the taco stand earth stallion.
The conversation was on the crowd. So maybe this one wasn't from here. Another train rider? "Yeah I guess you didn't hear. The conductor got sick and we had to make an emergency stop here. Kooky huh?" Next came the question of where she was from. "Oh, no I'm not from Canterlot. Though I need to make a stop there and pick up some more confetti for my cannon. I'm from Ponyville. And the name is...wait for it." She looked around like it was a big secret, getting real close like she was going to whisper it, then with all the subtlty of Mt. Vesuvius, exploded with excitement and her name "PINKIE PIE!"
The taco pony was barreled over by the time she landed.

Chrysalis knew the conductor got sick. It was his fault for ordering the clams... and flirting with that garnet-colored pony. A Garnet colored pony who totally wasn't Chrysalis. She nodded to the Pink pony and gave a slight frown. "That's unfortunate. Looks like we have some time here, though... I guess lunch would be best." Suddenly the pink pony introduced herself. With plenty of Volume. She stumbled back a few steps, bumping into a few ponies as she did so.
She cleared her throat, quickly apologizing to the ponies she had bumped into. Turning back to Pinkie, she smiled at the excitement the pink pony had. "My name is Penumbral Haze. Though, most ponies just call me Penumbra, or Penny if we're really close." She offered, turning to look at the menu. "I'm thinking the Lime Cilantro Portobello Tacos. What do you think?"
Pinkie looked back to the menu and saw the special again. "I'm going to get the combination patter. It comes with one of each, and Salsa Verde. doesn't that just rrrrroll off the tounge? Verde. Verde. Verde. Verde." She shook her head a bit and let her mind come back to the front. She walked up to the cart to a very friendly Earth Pony. "One Combination Combo por favor? And what ever she ends up getting, plus two drinks." She shook her mane and out popped a bit purse shaped like a balloon.
Looking back to Penny, she just waited a bit for her to place an order so she can pay. It was nice to do something for someone, especially if do so brings a smile to thier lovely face. Its just a shame that her date in Las Pegasus went belly up like an over loved fishie in a bowl. This was her third attempt at finding her special somepony, and it turned out to be a blatent changeling. He didn't seem to be scaring or terrorizing anyone, but a date was bound to be loaded with love. So he may have just been waiting, lulling the rest of the casino into a false sense of security so he could feast on her. She had alot of love within her. In alot of different flavors. love for her family, her friend, her ville, the random ponies she met, and those who she would meet in the future. But she was dashed when it came to finding her Shining Armor. What a great Fairy tale to tell the fillies about. It was such a romantic time.

'Penumbra' gave Pinkie a light grin, almost as if accepting an unspoken challenge. She stepped up to the server pony with a smile. "Un Cilantro, Cal, y Seta taco, por favor. Y uno frijoles con Queso." She said with a smile. She stepped back again, smiling to Pinkie. "Thank you, Miss Pinkie." She said with an elegant, Canterlot-themed bow. "And I believe I remember where I know you from. You've been in Canterlot. In fact, I believe you and your friends passed by right outside my home when the Changelings first attacked. Just before you six defeated an entire BATTALION! The Changelings are excellent Tacticians, yet you defeated them expertly!"
'Penumbra' cleared her throat. "Sorry for the exuberance. I'm somewhat of a fan of you and your friends. AS well as a researcher on Changelings. Very few wish to know what a Changeling truly is, but I want to know what makes them different from us." She said with a smile, sipping her drink. "Did you know, a changelings Chitin is vastly different than a Ponies coat or skin? They have very small points of magic, like a chameleons chromatophores, that allow them to change~?"
PInkie watched in a bit of awe as she ordered the tacos in a different language. Though the taco Pony understood it perfectly and started preparing the orders. Pinkie places the bits for the combos and thier drinks on the counter and then looked back to her as she talked more about the changelings. While she listened, she thought back to her blind date in Las pegasus. Wasn't a very enjoyable time. It was really a lot shorter than she expected it to be. Though she oaid attention, she wasn't really interested in knowing how a changeling changed. She was completely fine with it being magic, but it seemed this mare was really interested in them. In fact she seemed to be an expert on them.
As their orders were placed on the counter, she balanced hers on her mane and then turned to Penumbra. "Well I am glad we were able to help you. So what brings you all the way out here?"

What brought her out here? A Quick meal, obviously... The City of Las Pegasus was full of ponies who had the capacity to fall in love easily, even with their own shadows. However, Chrysalis couldn't really tell the pink pony that... Rather, she could, but it would be stupid to do so in such a largely populated area.
"Following a lead~" She started, taking her tray in her magic and carrying it toward a nearby table that had just opened up. "I heard there were some changelings around there, and I wished to study them some more. See if I could learn anything from a live specimen that I couldn't from a shard of their hide." She said, setting down her tray and taking a seat, looking at Pinkie. "How about yourself? What brings you all this way away from Ponyville?"
Setting her tray down, she took a sip of the soda to get rid of the dry mouth from the heat of this weather. It was so hot here, one would think the Princess dropped the sun and barely caught it before it burrowed through their world. Seemed like her new friend was not only an Expert, but it was her major field of study. It might not be a bad idea to tell her about Zyrkon.
"Well I had his blind date in Las Pegasus as part of the Hearts and Hooves Day celebration. It kind of went bust though as when I got there, it turned out my date was a Changeling. He wasn't even in disguise. He was jsut sitting there, lulling the rest of the ponies into a false sense of security and plotting on how to make me the first meal of a Casino Style Buffet. She took a bite of her first taco, and chewed. The manner of her voice, while still sugary, was more like a sweet death. It was obvious she was very skeptical and angry about the whole incident.

A Changeling... out of disguise? Chrysalis growled under her throat for a moment. Was it just a coincidence? Or was that Roach she met in Appleoosa here, too? Either way, Pinkie seemed to still be in a mindset of "Changelings equal Death". Chrysalis shook her head with a sigh, playing off of Pinkies story. "My, such a shame. A lovely pony getting jipped out of a date because a bug wants to pretend to be good..." She said, taking a small nibble of her food as well.
"But, The past is History, the future a mystery, and today a gift... That's why it's called the present." She said, looking up at Pinkie with her dark blue eyes. "Put that behind you and continue on to make the most of what's going on in the moment."
There was a twinge as she shook her head. Pinkie felt somethign was wrong in the smile department. As she looked over to the mare, she started to get a sense of what was wrong. She was a changeling expert. And here, Pinkie was just talking bad about one. This really was a cart before the horse type thing. Though to be honest she walks behind carts all the time, so she didn't see any problum with it. Shoot, she might have even got that saying wrong. Well it included a horse and there had to be at least one Pony Pun Per Pinkie Post. Say that five times fast. Pony Pun per Pinkie Post. Pony Pun Per pinkie Post. Pony Pun...I'm rambling again.
Adjusting her seating, she looked to Penumbra. "I'm sorry if it sounded like I made a big representation of Changelings. I had one incident with them and they really hurt my friend, her Brother, and her Sister-in-law. So I kind of started off on the wrong hoof with them. I just really didn't expect my next encounter with one to be just out there and, of all times, on Hearts and Hooves Day. Know what I mean?"
