Spring was coming to an end. Soon, these fluffy white clouds floating over Ponyville with their lovely little showers would be loosing the last of their waters, to seep back into the lake until next delivery to Cloudsdale. It was all part of the regulated ecosystem, it'd been the way the pegasus ponies had done things since as far as history could remember; the clouds hang around and rain out over spring, and leave clear skies for the incoming summer sunshine. And Bon Bon was getting ready to do mildly questionable things with them. She wheeled her condenser, a heavy metal box that looked like a washing machine with a tube coming out the side, discreetly behind some bushes near the middle of town. She wore a pair of goggles for safety, of course, with an extra pair for her associate around her neck, and balanced a metal vacuum-backpack around her shoulders—also for her associate. (Or at least, she hoped he was an associate, if not a good friend. He agreed to help her out after all, hadn't he? She still got shifty hooves around him, though... but she promised herself she'd not be a dummy about it.) She hadn't turned on either of her machines yet, as they were was brand new, so she had no idea how loud it would be. But she felt pretty confident it wouldn't turn too many eyes and ears their way. Folks in Ponyville, including herself, liked to assume the best of others! ... Except maybe that zebra lady, which was a situation she still kind of felt bad about. Maybe I should send her some shortbread cookies, she thought. I bet she has some really neat exotic sweeteners tucked away someplace... "Right," she muttered to herself, checking her pink plastic Greetings Kitten™ pocketwatch. Her arrival had been a bit early, so the pegasus she'd asked to lend her a hoof and a wing hadn't yet arrived. She checked the sky; sure enough, the sky was mostly cloudy, just as the weather report said it would be. "Any minute now. Shoot, I did say Town Square, right...?" |
