#Personality ;
High Winds, or "Windy" as she's called by her friends, is incredibly sweet, and is quite friendly to other ponies, though she's not as outgoing compared to some of her fellow teammates like Soarin' or Surprise. She treats her fellow ponies and friends as nice as possible, but is also willing to give her friends some good-natured teasing if the situation calls for it. She has a huge soft spot for foals, and won't even hesitate to say yes if one asks for an autograph or to pose for a picture. In fact, because of this she does occasionally get in trouble as she can often close to missing a practice session or even a show because she'll often be too caught up meeting with a fan.
She values her teammates greatly, and is often one of the first to come to their defense if anything comes their way. Being on the team is hoofs down the most important thing in the world to her, and she continues to do her best to serve as a proud member. Most of all is helping the team when they're on assignment whether it involves a rescue mission saving ponies from sort of danger or taking one of the various beasts that happen to start rampaging through. These are what give High Winds her biggest sense of fulfillment, mainly from helping her fellow mares and stallions out... but also because deep down there's something about the thrill that she really likes. Just don't try to ever get her to admit it.
In addition to her secret vice, in spite of being a good-hearted mare even she has her limits, and though she often has a large amount of patience she can reach her breaking point if somepony pushes her far enough, causing her to break from her usual friendly demeanor to one more irritable and snappy, sometimes yelling up a storm that rivals Spitfire whenever she's "in character" training rookies. However, she will almost immediately apologize to anypony she displays this behavior to when she calms down.
Due to a recent experience while on patrol with a few of her squadmates, she's started to develop a slight fear of dragons. Although she'll try and keep herself as composed as posible, if any dragon-related situation comes up and becomes prolonged she'll begin showing visible signs of panic. One of her pet peeves is whenever ponies mistake her for being Soarin's sister due to them having somewhat similar coats and manes; contrary to those opinions she's an only foal.
#History ;
High Winds grew up as a single foal under her parents' wing in Cloudsdale. Things were relatively normal for her as she grew up, with the notable exception that in her early years as a filly she was a thousand times less social than she is now, barely even talking to other foals her age outside of maybe an occasional "hello." Though her parents wished she would grow out of her shell, they never attempted to force the issue with her out of worry that it would only make things worse and grow more cut off. The only time she really expressed herself was when she was home, using the chance fly freely around the house. During these little private flights she proved to be quite fast, showcasing her potential to be an excellent flier.
Her life would change when it finally came time for her to attend flight camp. Though she proved to be a near-prodigy in her flight school, often earning high marks, because of her less social nature she rarely if ever attempted to interact with her fellow pegasi. This quickly led to several of the foals believing that she was some sort of stuck up jerk, leading several of them to shun her and even more to start harassing her about it. This made things even worse for High Winds, and after a few days she was ready to run away from flight camp. Fortunately, a new attendee happened to join the camp around this time. A certain white-coated, yellow maned filly by the name of Surprise noticed how lonely High Winds was, and wasted no time doing her best to make friends with her fellow foal. Over time she was able to break through to High Winds thanks to her high-spirited, friendly nature, making her the first real friend she'd ever had.
Surprise's influence led to High Winds becoming more sociable as well helped her confidence, and this would soon come in very handy for the filly very soon. During one of the last days at camp, some scheduling errors led to a storm occurring when the pegasus ponies were setting up some test flights for the foals. One started right when High Winds was in the middle of a flight. Despite the initial shock, High Winds refused to panic and continued on throughout the storm, making her way through it to the end. By the time it was over she'd not only wound up passing the test, but had wound up attaining her cutie mark as well.
As she grew older, High Winds eventually set her sights on the dream of several pegasi: attaining a spot on the flight team that is the Wonderbolts. She began working her way on entering as many competitions and races as she could, and after a few more years her impressive speed managed to finally be enough to net her the the Wonderbolts' attention. In time, her application into the academy was finally accepted. High Winds was skillful in the sky, but as the saying goes, there's always someone better. The Wonderbolts are all about being the best of the best, and despite her own air power there were several other pegasus ponies giving her a run for her bits. She would soon get a chance to prove herself, as during what was supposed to be a routine exercise one member of the other cadets, Sky Surfer, flew too close to one of the clouds and struck it, disorienting himself and causing him to lose control of his flight, leaving him plummeting to the earth blow. Realizing that he'd never make it at the height he was falling from, she quickly dropped everything to come to his aid, helping to catch him and cushion his fall from the height. Though she attained a few minor injuries for a few days the act wound up saving his life.
She quickly started gaining recognition from the committee for her rescue, as she proved to them that she not only had the power to compete with the others but also the drive to look out for her fellow ponies, one of the most important traits when it came to making the team. After several months of hard work and dedication, she was finally given a spot on the team. She was one of the one of the earliest members of the team to be recruited after Spitfire's promotion to captain, meeting up with Surprise again for the first time in years. She wasted no time in getting to know the whole team, and it wasn't long before they'd become some of the closest friends in her life.The Roleplayer's Corner

High Winds yawned as she she checked over everything one last time. She wasn't really all that set to do a test flight around one of the Wonderbolts' training course, especially since she'd already nearly tired herself out in the last hour and a half from an exercise routine that included several dozen wing-ups and stretches. But Spitfire had personally asked her to test the course out, and there was no way she would let her teammates, especially when one of them was her captain. So despite a minor twinge of irritation, she pushed it down as far as it could go and prepared for a training flight. She'd already changed into her uniform prior to heading outside so she was suitably attired. All she needed to do now was head to the starting.
After setting herself down she glanced over at the course in front of her. She lowered her goggles and double checked to make sure they were tightly fit. Once that was done with she got into a takeoff position and and spread her wings. She than began to mentally count to herself. 3... 2... 1... go! With everything she could muster, High Winds took off at full speed. She weaved in and out of the markers, then set herself up for a triple loop-de-loop among a series of rings before resuming her position straight along the course again. She continued her movement around the cloud markers and obstacles, until she'd cleared the entire course within a few minutes. Once she was done she raised her goggles back up. "That wasn't too difficult. Looks like everything checked out."
She returned to the ground of the HQ and walked toward a table that contained both a pen along with a notepad and clipboard, taking the pen within her teeth as she started writing down some personal notes about the course. "Everything is in working order. Course difficulty is around 2 out of 5; it provides a little challenge to beginners but isn't too hard that it would be considered intermediate. Difficulty is around 2 out of 5." Once she was finished, she dropped the pen from her mouth and replaced it with notepad and clipboard, making her way towards Spitfire's office. The esteemed Wonderbolt captain was absent for the moment, so High Winds decided to just drop it off on her desk so that Spitfire could pick it up later.
Now that all of that business was over and done with she had a bit of free time on her hooves. Feeling her stomach rumble she decided that the first thing to do would be to find herself a meal. Not exactly feeling all that up for food from the mess hall four days in row, she remembered that one town called Ponyville wasn't far away from the base. Of course, trotting around still clad in her uniform would raise a couple eyes, so she'd have to change out first before making her way there. High Winds returned to her private quarters and removed her gear, shaking herself a little once she'd undressed. As proud as she was of her uniform, having to wear the thing for hours could really take its toll, so it was nice to be free from it every now and then. Once she was ready she exited the academy and took off to the skies. She'd just be gone for a few hours; once she was done she'd return in an instant.
