Las Pegasus! She'd had her reservations, but now that she was here she found herself breathless. She stood on the end of the main strip, her eyes literally shining with the lights reflected in them. Her mouth hung open just a bit. She was really here.

It had all started a month earlier. The fillyharmonic had received a letter asking if any musicians wanted to play in the pit for a musical retelling of the classic tale of "The Pony of LaMuncha." Most of them scoffed at the idea. Playing in the pit for a stage show was thankless work. The music tended to be mostly simple, if it was anything more than just sound effects. What's more, it was a comedy, which meant the music would likely be even less poignant. Octavia, however, took up the offer almost immediately. Partially because it mentioned free travel and lodging in Las Pegasus, but mostly because it was one thing she hadn't done yet. Even if she weren't taking center stage, it was LAS PEGASUS. She'd be able to make a bit of money from playing, and other than that it was basically a 2 day vacation. All she needed was food.

But as she stood here on the end of the most famous street of one of the most famous cities in the world, food was the last thing on her mind. This was the very sidewalk upon which some of the greatest musicians in history ever walked. While she loved classical, seeing the names adorning the sidewalk made her feel a bit jazzy. Unconsciously, she had begun skipping just a bit, her cello case thunking dully against her side. Las Pegasus...Las Pegasus!

”Viva Las Pegasus…” Time Turner mumbled to himself as the tune ran through his mind. Originally he hadn’t planned on making the town of lights, entertainment, and games his next trip, but he had been talked into it when he heard there was a playing of the “Pony of La Muncha” going on. Just as exciting was the claims that the great Octavia was going to be playing in the orchestra. Those two things together instantly shot the city right up into the top of his list of places to visit. It seemed his attempt to visit the lovely city of Trottingham would have to wait. There was musical theatre to enjoy!

But it would be a while until the show started, and so that left him with little to do but wander around the city. Right now he had found himself wandering the street with all the famous stars and their names on the ground. Taking up a small challenge for himself, Time Turner was looking at the ground wondering how many of the names he recognized. Surprisingly enough, he actually knew quite a bit of the names. In his distracted state, however, he almost ended up bumping into another pony. It was only the sound of the cello case thumping that got his attention long enough to stumble out of the way and let the mare through.

”My apologies mam, didn’t see you there. Have a nice day,” he stated as he continued on, smile on his face as he started focusing on the ground again. A second later, however, it clicked in his mind who the gray mare was. Quickly turning around, he trotted up beside her, beaming.

”Hold a second, you’re Octavia aren’t you? Earth Pony cellist, Fillyharmonic, etc etc.? I knew you’d be in the orchestra for Pony of La Muncha, but I wouldn’t have expected to meet you here in the streets. The name is Time Turner. I’m a big fan of your work. Don’t get many chances to see you live though, but still a big fan.”

"Oh!"

She'd nearly bowled somepony over. The cellist stopped her skipping and raised her eyes off of the sidewalk to look over the stallion who'd just managed to dodge around her. He didn't quite look familiar. Not that that was unbelievable. She was, in fact, in a city she'd never been in before. "Oh, no, don't worry about it. It was my fault." She smiled as the pony passed.

Then he turned around.

Then he announced that he was a fan.

Of her.

Specifically.

"....I....have a fan?"

It was the first thing that came into her mind. She'd never had a fan before. Not one to call her own, anyway. A few ponies had said that they liked her work, and a lot of ponies loved the phillyharmonic, but no one had ever targeted her specifically and mentioned that they were a fan. Much less a big fan. And one who knew that she would be here? She was hardly a side note on the program.

"O-oh!" She turned to face Turner, smiling nervously. "Well....thank you! Honestly, I'm not sure how to react...Are you going to be at the show?"

What does one DO for a fan? Or rather, the first real "fan" they meet? Did she have others? Was she being recognized for her talents? True, most professional musicians were unicorns, but she wasn't the only string player who used her hooves. Even several of the unicorns in the phillyharmonic refused to use their magic during performances. There was even a pegasus who'd learned to play the harp with her hooves. AND her wings. At the same time. Compared to some of the others in the orchestra, she didn't exactly feel like she stood out. So, she told herself, no getting worked up over this. It's a fan, no need to get a big head...

A fan...

Las Pegasus...

MAN, what a weekend this was turning out to be!

”Yep, you got a fan,” Time Turner replied, head slightly tilted in confusion.

He wasn’t sure if it was good or bad that she seemed surprised that she had a fan. Either she had just never really met one, or he was currently part of a very small group of ponies. Meh, didn’t matter either way; all that mattered was that he thought that she was brilliant and talented. Probably not too surprising though; very rarely did you find fans of more classical music among ponies today. But he had always found a charm in the classical music arts, and nothing ever quite beat the sound of a good violin or cello.

And by the time he was finished with that thought it seemed that Octavia had gotten out of her little stupor and was back into talking. Her shock could be forgiven, and it wasn’t like he didn’t have a habit of losing himself in thought and then having to dive back into conversation. It would be very rude of him to hold that against somepony if he did it himself.

”Oh why yes of course, twas why I came down here to Las Pegasus. Musical theater and the chance to watch you live, why, how could I resist?” he replied, beaming a bit before realizing that was probably a little creepy and so he turned it down a little. He would prefer to not spend his time in Las Pegasus in the jail for being a stalker.

”So anyway, I guess I better be off then. I’m sure you got practice or something like that to attend to,” Time Turner replied before he started trotting a little bit faster. After thinking about it some more, however, he suddenly got an idea and slowed down a bit. He didn’t get many chances to hang out with celebrities, and more importantly celebrities he actually liked. It was always a pain to meet ones you didn’t like; that one night with Blueblood still bothered Time Turner to this day.

”Uhm, if you don’t mind me asking, would you care for an escort around Las Pegasus after the show or something? I travel here quite often and might be able to show you some of the sights. If you’re going to be in Las Pegasus might as well have some fun, right?”

An...escort? She again stood in thought, but came to a decision much quicker this time around. She smiled widely, then curtsied politely.

"Mr. Turner, it would be my honor." She raised herself up and trotted forward, standing next to him and again gazing around at the lights. Las Pegasus! She still could hardly believe it. "Alright, well I don't really have any pull with the show, but if you wait in the lobby afterwards I'll find you. Then....perhaps dinner and a night on the town? Oh, I don't know how this kind of thing works..."

Despite her reservations, she still grinned. This place was unbelievable! It was definitely unlike anything she'd ever seen. Perhaps she had accepted the invitation because she was overwhelmed and needed somepony else to water down the experience. Or perhaps she had finally decided to look for friends outside of the ponies in the music business. Whatever it was, she was more excited than she'd ever been.

”Excellent!” Time Turner responded as Octavia agreed to his offer.

He was rather excited about the chance to play tourguide for one of his favorite musicians. Her plan seemed sensible enough; after a show she would probably be tired and hungry so getting something to eat would give her a chance to relax some. For a brief moment he wondered if what he had just said could have been taken as an offer for a date; after all her response did sound like as stereotypical date plan. But he soon pushed that thought aside. He wasn’t exactly interested in that sort of relationship, and he had doubted she was reading that into his offer. His thoughts were probably just him overestimating his own ‘appeal’, so to speak.

”So then, I will meet you in the lobby right after the show, and then we can go to this diner I found my last trip. Small, but they got about the best hay fries I’ve ever had, including some of the imported kinds you can get in Canterlot…”

Glancing up at the sun and taking a guess at the time (his specialty after all), he figured he needed to get going to do a few things and get ready. Besides, Octavia probably had to start getting ready for the show soon enough.

”Until this evening then Miss Octavia,” Time Turner said with a polite bow before trotting off, a small but goofy smile on his face. He hadn’t planned on his trip to Las Pegasus to end up being this exciting. All he needed to do now was plan out some events and figure out what bowtie to wear…
