Soarin' took a deep whiff of fresh air as he flew high in the skies over Equestria. It was an absolutely lovely Autumn afternoon, Celestia's sun was shining high in the air, there wasn't a cloud in sight, and there was that pleasant cool breeze a-blowin'. You know, that one that makes it just cold enough for you to want a jacket, but not a heavy coat. Fortunately for Soarin', his Wonderbolts uniform worked even better than a jacket for keeping him warm. Insulation was such a cool thing.
The pleasant weather only served to make the Wonderbolt an even happier stallion. His recent bout of insomnia seemed to be over and he was finally getting some sleep and rest like Spitfire had urged him to do. If things kept going this well, he'd be in peak performance shape before he knew it! Soarin' was having a very good day.
His mind wandered as he flew around, throwing in a roll and a loop-de-loop here and there, humming a happy song and letting his mind wander. Which is why he didn't notice things getting blustery until a particularly strong gust of wind knocked him off course and sent him down. And before the pegasus even knew what had happened, he found himself stuck inside a tree's branches.
"Well," Soarin' said, struggling to break free, to no avail. "This a bummer."
A little bit to the side and in front of the Wonderbolt's face, a ripe red apple shined like silver in the sun. Soarin' smile returned, seeing that things weren't all THAT bad. Leaning forward, he tried to reach forward and take a bite...only to find it was juuuuuust out of reach.
"B-b-bu-but why?" the pegasus asked of no one, voice filled with disappointment and despair. He immediately began struggling to break free again, only to find it was still going nowhere fast.
"HEY!" he shouted out. "Could anypony give me a hoof here?"
