Why in the world was Spitfire in a dress shop? She really was having no luck here on picking something out on her own. Not that the dress she was looking for was herself, no her little sister. Her little sister had a little dance or party coming up, so she thought she would surprise her with a Canterlot prized dress. It sure did rank high in bits, oh the prices in this place.

She was not in uniform today thankfully, so not many ponies were chasing her down for pictures and autographs. Though it wasn’t like she hated it, she loved all her fans they just made it harder to shop. Thankfully once again, today she was alone, looking for a dress of some kind. Her sister was a little younger than herself but they were around the same size since Spitfire herself was small around the waist. The sales pony started taking things off one rack and tossing them her way, till she shoved the mare behind a door to change. Spitfire came out in one of the dresses, a short cut one. It fit good but would it look good on her sister? Looking in the mare, it looked a little flashy, her sister didn’t like flashy. Hot date? Impressing a coltfriend? This dress is perfect” said the sales pony. Though she wasn’t doing any of that…it was for her sister. But the sales pony just kept talking, walking off to find more dresses. Leaving Spitfire dressed up, for no reason at all.

Rarity was bundled up nice and cozily, strutting down the Canterlot Commons, taking in the sites. She would only be in town for two more days, and had hardly gotten any shopping done at all. (Or browsing for that matter.)

Fresh from meeting Soarin', she had a grin on her face, and a lot on her mind. But that wouldn't keep her from enjoying herself. If anything, nothing at this point could keep her from that.

Cheerily, she entered a large, glamorous shop, filled to the brim with dresses, skirts, and of course....shoes. Those, of all things, immediately caught her eye. Naturally, as a dress maker, she choose not to purchase those from other shops, merely inventory what others were making. But shoes on the other hoof, were something she frequently, and frivolously purchased.

She lifted a red pair, ogled over them for a few moments, then bit her lip at the price, putting them down immediately, seeing as it would take a months worth of commissions to pay for them. She sighed, running her hoof along another pair, all the while listening to a sales-pony talk. Slightly curious, she turned, wanting to see what potentially lovely, and obviously wealthy mare was trying on something in here.

The mare was, in fact, lovely. Her mane was like an untamed flame, and her coat was a sinful shade of gold. She was currently modeling a tight, short fitting ensemble; one that felt inappropriate to stare at for too long.

The pony from the shop stepped away, leaving the other looking somewhat confused at herself in the mirror. Rarity quietly made her way over, offering a simple, but warming smile. "She was certainly right that it would make an impression. But perhaps it's not the impression you'd like to make." She turned her head to glance back at the racks of dresses, but also to see where the sales pony had gone to, making sure she wasn't speaking out of turn, or against the other's advice. "Is this for a date, like she said?" Rarity shuffled through the dresses that had been presented to the mare, "All of these are all wrong, really. A stallion would much prefer a mare that doesn't...how would you say, 'show it all'? Especially not to begin with..." She set down the dresses, the expression on the mare's face beginning to make her feel a bit embarrassed.

"Please excuse me for intruding. I make dresses myself. All of which, I hope to convey a message with. the one this is sending... I'm rambling again. I hope you have a marvelous afternoon!" She gave one last smile, and turned away, leading herself to the exit.

Next time she wasn’t going to try and surprise her sister, she was just going to bring the young filly here. It was better than the ponies stuffing her in dressed, oh she hated dressed. She hated dressing up, she hated makeup, she hated it all. Spitfire was not at all a mare to prance around in glitter and dresses all day, she’d rather jump and leap in mud.

As she was left there in the dress, she frowned. What the hell?! Damn Canterlot ponies, all the same. As she turned to find her way back to the dressing room, another pony, a mare, approached her. Another sale pony? Please no. even this mare thought she was going on some kind of date. ” No, no, no, no date at all. “ she shaked her head. The mare had never even been asked out on one, well not a real one. There were fans and stuff but that wasn’t a invitation, not in Spitfire’s mind.

”I can’t even see myself on one of those” she couldn’t help but shudder a little bit at the idea. ”This is for my sister, it was suppose to be a surprise” she sighed and finally explained. But truthfully Spitfire liked nothing here, it was too grown and tight.

”Wait!” oh the mare was already leaving and she didn’t even know her name. what to call her? Mare? Purple haired mare? Wings lifted and the shot forward to land right beside the exit doors, this worked. It wasn’t like the staff was going to yell at her, she was Spitfire. Though the mare didn’t seem shocked by her, or maybe she didn’t even know who she was? If she didn’t, she liked that or if she did know who Spitfire was but didn’t care, she liked that too. ”You make dresses? I need to find something for my sister, can you help me?” she asked. Looking at the clock on the wall, she judged the time quickly ”And I have time before I have to meet up with Soarin’ and the bolts. So if you will let me take this thing off, I’m all yours” she offered with a smile.

“Wait!” Rarity stopped, lifting a hoof to her chest and turning her neck back to see the mare from before trying to get her attention. She was a bit loud, for such a quaint, serious shop. But the firey mare simply couldn’t care less. “You make dresses? I need to find something for my sister, can you help me?”

“Help you find something? Well, I can’t really say that I know the shops in this area. I could always look, if you gave me more of an idea of what you wanted…? But, well, I could make something just as quickly. If not more so.”

She let the offer stand, waiting to see her reaction, when it dawned on her that that might have seemed pretentious. “Of course, I’d hate for you to think I am just trying to find business. That wasn’t what this was about at all. I was only looking to help. I take dresses very seriously.”

Rarity gave her a bright and friendly smile, which she guessed the mare took kindly at. Seeing as she checked the time and confirmed she’d like to go with her.

“I have time before I have to meet up with Soarin’ and the bolts. So if you will let me take this thing off, I’m all yours”

“Of course, I have plenty of time. And I am overjoyed to help!” She waited as the mare walked off to change, finally giving her a second to think. “The WONDERBOLTS? Oh…oh my.” She fanned herself, wracking her brain for the mare’s name. “It’s Spitfire isn’t it? You are Spitfire.”

Rarity blushed, looking down. Immediately curious and wanting to ask about Soarin’. But she restrained herself…maybe later she would get the chance to do that.

“I’m ready whenever you are, darling.”
