Applejack was never a pony to complain about the weather. Both rainy days and sunny days were welcomed with pleasure in the Apple household, for both ensured that the crops on Sweet Apple Acres would get their nourishment. Every cycle of weather had its purpose and benefits. Applejack knew that very well. However, there is occassionally that small, rare moment where she would stop and grumble under her breath, wondering why some pegasus couldn't have taken their weather elsewhere. Today was one of those days, for she had spent her morning surveying the damage from a nasty storm that had passed through that night. There had been plenty of rain and plenty of wind, and where there was plenty of wind, there were sure to some losses. Luckily, from what she had seen so far, there were only a few stray apple scattered across the ground, nothing too major. Still, she had to keep reminding herself that some pegasus was only doing his job, and that storms brought their own benefits too, in order to keep away the annoyance.[/size]
There were a few branches down here and there and apples had fallen from their branches and bruised. It wasn't a great sight, but it certainly wasn't enough to set them back at all this season. Applejack stopped for a moment to roll a battered, fallen apple underneath her hoof and let out a sigh. Well, she had finished checking the western fields, and there wasn't too much to get worked up over. It gave her a wave of optimism to think that maybe the storm hadn't been as bad as it had sounded. With that thought, she gave herself a small nod and turned to trot back to evaluate the rest of the farm. All she had left to check on now were some of the buildngs occupying their land...
And that was where Applejack's optimism was quickly deflatted. "Ah, shoot...." she sighed with a heavy puff of air the moment she saw the gaping hole in the roof of one of their sheds. A significantly sized branch had cracked off of a nearby tree and apparently was thrown right through the wooden roof of the darn thing. It was just big enough to be a problem that Applejack knew she should fix as soon as she got a chance, unless she wanted any critters or rain getting into the little buiding. "Well, no time like tha present," she said to herself. "Nothin' a few wooden boards an' a lil' elbow grease can't fix."
So, without any further fuss or hesitation, Applejack quickly gathered everything she would need to remedy her problem. Conveniently enough, that shed was the one they were keeping their extra wood and their tools in, so the mare made quick time of getting the supplies ready to tackle the job. She didn't waste any time as she leaned the ladder up against the building, climbed up, and went to work. For someone with a work ethic like Applejack's, she couldn't mind too much about this set back. It was just going to be a little longer of a morning, that's all.
