Neon lightly tapped his hooves against the seat, a smile plastered on his face. Why was he so happy? Well, he was back in Equestria! He had just gotten back from his world tour! That meant he could relax, see his foster parents, and simply be back home! He had missed Canterlot a ton.

"Uh, sir?" Neon looked up, to see Handy, his assistant. "We're stopping soon." Neon nodded eagerly, watching Handy disappear soon after. He gathered the things he had to carry on himself, and walked up to the front.

The carriage rolled to a stop, and he hopped off, immediately frowning. This can't be right... "This isn't Canterlot." Suddenly, the carriage he was in drove away, leaving him in the middle of a town he didn't know. He slowly looked around, and sighed. "So much for that... Hm... May as well find somepony who knows where Canterlot is. Or, just wait for the bus to come back for me. Nevertheless, I gotta find somepony. Hopefully friendly... Or who likes to party. Either one would work."

Sweetheart smiled to herself as she fished out her list from her saddlebags and marked off a lot of the things she'd come to get. Appleoosa was a wonderful town and she wouldn't knock it for anything, but there were some things you couldn't get there. She had been planning to get them in Canterlot, but after talking to Braeburn about it, she had decided to try and get as many of the things on her list in Ponyville as she could. And, like most of his advice, it was good. The prices were definitely better! A few very unusual items would still have to be purchased from the castle city, however.

Replacing the list back in her bags, Sweetheart wasn't watching where she was going, and she ran into a star-studded flank rather hard, stumbling. "Oh! I beg your pardon," she said quickly, inclining her head in a respectful sort of bow. She looked up with an apologetic sort of smile. "I wasn't watching where I was going. I'm terribly sorry."

Before he had time to react, somepony ran into his flank.

""Oh! I beg your pardon,"

His ears perked, and he looked over to the stumbling pony. She had gorgeous red eyes, and a beautiful mane!

"I wasn't watching where I was going. I'm terribly sorry."

And she was polite! He was glad he had been dropped off here, and not some barbaric town... That had actually happened once in Zebrica... He wasn't going to be doing a concert back in that village any time soon...

He coughed, rubbing the back of his head. "Uh, it's my fault too. I wasn't watching where I was going either. My tour bus just drove off without me, and I'm a bit lost. I was wondering if you knew how far away Canterlot was?"

There was something in the way this unicorn looked at Sweetheart that made her smile a bit shyly and blush, but she couldn't have said what it was. She regarded him with some concern when he mentioned being left behind, but when he mentioned Canterlot, she brightened.

"Its not too far away. If you look behind you, there- You can kind of see some of it on the cliffs. It's kind of a bad angle from here though. Anyway, it's about an hour away by train, a half a day-ish if you walk. Its all uphill."

Sweetheart only hesitated a moment before continuing. She was a little worried about sounding forward or pushy. "Actually, there's a train leaving for Canterlot in just a little while. I was planning to take it there myself, as I need to do some shopping. Would you... like to come along? No pressure, though." Sweetheart finished with an understanding smile and nod.

Well of course he wanted to come along! Traveling was better with more than one pony. You always got somepony to talk to. "I'd love to, since we're both going to the same place and all. Better than being alone, right?"

He chuckled, taking off his glasses, and putting them in a shirt pocket. He didn't need to be MC W1SH for her. She was nice. Neon Lights could settle with being himself. "I'm Neon Lights. What's your name?" He flashed a smile, looking at her with deep blue eyes.

Again, there was something in the way he regarded and smiled at her. The mare could feel herself blushing again. Was she a bit star-struck? It seemed unlikely, she'd never had this issue before. Even when she had worked as a simple palace servant for a time, and had taken orders from all sorts of ponies. And besides that, all she knew about his fame was the phrase 'tour bus'.

Hardly a phrase to evoke heart-rending, wild squealing fan-girlism.

He was still waiting for an answer.

"Ah, Sweetheart. I mean, my name, its Sweetheart." That little clarification was sometimes necessary, in case someone thought she was using a term of endearment. She laughed softly and took a moment to compose herself. Glancing around, she spotted a clock and added "It seems there's still a bit of time before we can get on the train. Would you like to get some coffee? It would be my treat."

He waited for a bit, and she seemed to stare at him for a bit. She seriously had amazing eyes. He had never seen a red that shade for an eye color. He loved it. His eyes were a nice blue. Just nice. Her eye color went with her white and pink very nicely.

"Ah, Sweetheart, I mean, my name, its Sweetheart." Sweetheart? Wow... That's... An amazing name to be titled with... And she seemed to be living up to the name quite nicely. She was a sweetheart. "It seems there's still a bit of time before we can get on the train. Would you like to get some coffee? It would be my treat."

"Oh, I can't let you pay for something I can easily pay for myself! How about, I buy us coffee, or, we can both buy our own separate coffees. Your choice." He didn't know if she was one of those ponies who stressed about being their own ponies and independence crap... He was just being considerate and polite.

Sweetheart was indeed 'her own pony' and rather independent, but more than that, she tried to be courteous and polite. Her offer to pay had been sparked by the fact that she had been the one making the invitation, and the knowledge that gentlecolts generally didn't expect the lady to pay. And also that seeing as he had been left behind accidentally, he might simply not have his wallet on him.

But there was no need to explain all this.

"It's very kind of you to offer to pay. Thank you." she replied, with another shy smile. "The coffee shop is just around the corner, I believe. I passed it not too long ago." Sweetheart led the way through the square and down a street. "Since you mentioned a tour bus, do you mind if I ask you if you've been away long? And if you're glad to be home, or, well, almost home?" Sweetheart added, with a giggle.

Neon walked alongside Sweetheart, listening to her talk. "Oh, well, I was on my world tour. I'm pretty glad to be back. As great as it is traveling, nothing compares to being home! I love Canterlot. I've never been here before... Isn't this Ponyville?"

He had heard about this place. Or, rather, he had heard about the Elements of Harmony, and all the strange things that happened in this town. It certainly sounded like an exciting place to live.

Sweetheart smiled and nodded, turning down a smaller side street. "Yes, this is Ponyville. It's much bigger than it looks, though it can't compare in size or grandeur to a city like Canterlot, I suppose." Still, as she watched a friendly, bantering exchange between a carrot vender and a buyer, Sweetheart couldn't help feeling that the atmosphere of the town was a good deal more comforting than Canterlot's.

It still didn't compare to the feeling that Appleoosa gave her, though. She paused and looked around. "I don't think I mentioned this before, " Sweetheart said with a shy giggle, "But I'm not actually from Ponyville. So, ah... I'm afraid we're a little lost."

Almost like a sonar, Pinkie immediately picked-up the sound of Sweetheart's voice when she said "lost".

Now, Pinkie always made sure she knew everypony in Ponyville. Heck, even visitors to Ponyville were considered her undeniable friends. Whenever visitors tended to happen along, she always took the first step in welcoming them. After all, she WAS the proprietor of the Welcome Wagon! Nopony did it better than her!

Could it be that certain ponies had come to Ponyville and she didn't know about it? This needed to be fixed. Now!

Quickly turning in a fraction of a second, she bolted off and in nearly-impossible time, was suddenly standing in front of the source of that very "lost" statement, a pink mare and a dark-colored stallion. Without a single second to think, Pinkie blurted out the very first thing she could think of...
