Fleur de Lis sat on a bench, looking to the small crowd of noble ponies walking through the market area, some chatting and others heading for either their jobs or luxury shops. Everypony has a schedule, everypony has something to do, she thought. So does her. Well, so DID her. She sighed. They only bothered to tell me this morning that the dresses aren’t ready for testing. After all, shouldn’t it be easy to anticipate? she asked herself. If the dress is already late in the making from day one, it is quite obvious enough that there is a chance it won’t be ready for the due date. ‘We are sorry for the inconvenience, Miss De Lis, but our session today will have to be postponed. On the other hoof, we have heard of your busy schedule; you could see it as unexpected free time.’ they had told her. Unexpected free time indeed, she thought bitterly. Who knows if the date for the new session will conflict with my other contracts? If not, who knows if I will have to decline other offers because of that? That thought troubled her; it will deny her the chance to expand her web of contacts, to make her seen by more business and noble ponies, to make her known even more by the public.
As much as it annoyed her, she was now facing an altogether different problem right now. She had nothing to do, and didn't what to do of her free time. Of course, she knew that she could very much go shopping, eat a fancy restaurant, read a book, paint, have a walk by Lake Canterlot, and much more. However, there was just a single problem: she didn’t feel like being alone. Her good friend Fancy Pants was busy today and she didn’t know just then who else could accompany her for the day. I can’t just stay on this bench for the rest of the day, she thought. She reviewed her mental map of connections, and once again couldn’t find anyone who both could be available for the day and be somepony she wanted being with. She sighed again. I guess my web of connections isn’t yet big enough, she thought sadly. The crowd was still moving, yet she wasn’t.For what felt like hours, she continued scanning the endless stream of ponies walking by. So much for free time.
