#Name; Stardust Glimmer
#Age Group ; Teenager
#Gender ;Male
#Species; Pegasus
#Cutie Mark ; A shooting star
#Occupation ; Freelance Courier [not associated with any official pony mail service], but seeks to join the Royal Guard
#Powers and Abilities ; Shooting Star Rush: Stardust suddenly breaks into his top speed with a powerful push from his wings.
At daytime, he seems to release an iridescent glitter from his wings, which seems to happen regardless of using the trick.
At night, this becomes more pronounced and he even seems to have a slight glow around him, making him look like a shooting star from a distance.
(note: both effects are most prominent at top speed, hence the name of the trick- it is mainly for show)
#Physique ; Stardust Breaker
#Mane and fur color and style ; Short cut straw-yellow mane with gold streaks, snow white fur
#Eye color ; Blue
#Other appearance details ;Stardust’s wings are rather large for a pegasus, something that was problematic for him but he has become proud of. His right ear is torn, although he either doesn't remember or refuses to talk about how it happened. He also wears a blue vest and an emerald medallion.
#Personality ; Stardust Glimmer is, above all else, an idealist. Most of his beliefs seem to emulate the ideals of the ‘good guy’ in many stories about knights and heroes. As such, he believes in helping anypony who seems like they need it, respecting everyone around him. What helps him with this idealism is his uncanny optimism; making him the type of pony who can jump head first into any situation with a smile and a cheer.
His generally friendly attitude and willingness to start conversations earned him the nickname ‘ice breaker’, which eventually stuck and ponies began to refer to him as Stardust Breaker. He seems to have embraced the nickname to the point where he’ll just introduce himself as his pet-name rather than his given name.
His biggest flaw is his naiveté, he wants to see the best in others, firmly believing in second chances, giving others the benefit of the doubt, fair play, and taking others for their word. This naive idealism more often than not leads others to take advantage of him.
That isn't to say he is stupid, he is able to pick up on smaller details, and if something doesn't seem right to him, he'll more than likely go investigate- even if it brings him in over his head.
Oddly enough, even if he is aware of these manipulations, and no matter how much somepony has wronged him; he never seems to show any anger, sorrow, or any negative emotion for that matter. He manages to maintain his optimistic demeanor, to the point where it seems unnatural. This is due to him taking the ‘stay calm/don’t lash out’ lesson from his parents to its logical extreme; repressing all negative emotions so that he has no reason to lash out and thus, his parents can't complain.
His dream is to join the Canterlot Guard, presumably because he wanted to be like the knights and heroes of the stories he read. However, the real motive is to simply be of use to the Royal Sisters.
As a freelance-courier, he makes deliveries one at a time in order to focus on each particular job. He also makes it a point to be fair when it comes to rates, preferring to negotiate with his clients on the price. He follows two policies- he is not to open what he is delivering so he can see it, and his job is only done once he delivers the package or letter to the recipient's hooves.
#History; Born and raised in Appleoosa, Stardust had been bullied for his unusually large wings as a colt, which at the time made flight nearly impossible as he couldn’t muster the strength to use them properly. As a result, he had to rely on more mundane means of getting to Flight School. More often than not, they’d ditch him because he was ultimately unable to go as fast as they could. While he originally didn’t show any anger, the young colt soon began to resent this among other bullying methods.
His parents caught onto this frustration and, in hopes of preventing him from being just as bad or even worse when he finally grew up, began to lecture and even preemptively punish him for having hints of anger, in hopes to 'temper' him. This got annoying at first, but then Stardust came up with a solution to this with a rather childish mindset: if he can’t get angry, he can’t get yelled at. This logic eventually became ‘If I’m never negative, they can never bother me.’ This resulted in him striving to and ultimately succeeding in outright repressing every negative emotion he knew of: stopping himself from exhibiting sorrow, anger, envy, etc. This, combined with his love of the fantastic tales of knights and heroes, allowed him to become the -idealistic optimist he is.
During his youth, he would become enamoured with tales of fantasy, heroes and the like. He would often get himself lost in many books, rereading many of them to find out things he may have missed. This along with how history has been, and from what he saw of the Canterlot Royal Guard, motivated him to strive to join the Royal Guard, no matter how unrealistic a goal that was.
When he finally grew up a bit more, the pony’s body was more in proportion and, even though his wings were still larger than most pegasus wings, he was finally strong enough to use them properly. He easily outmatched the ponies who bullied him, and although he was conditioned not to get back at them actively, his self-imposed emotional restriction made them worry about his sanity. In that particular case, it was intentional on his part; instilling fear of a lunatic into the ponies who pushed him around was far more satisfying than holding any form of superiority over them or directly acting upon a grudge.
With that satisfaction, the pegasus would begin focusing on improving himself physically so that one day he could become worthy of joining the Royal Guard, taking up a job as a freelance courier due to the fact he could improve his flying skills while making deliveries.
He got his cutiemark on the job early dusk, flying around like normal before he realized he was running short on time. Determined to make it to his destination on time, he began picking up the pace, and in a moment of confidence, he spun in the air simultaneously with a single beat of his wings. He had inadvertently used a stunt trick, and he soared through the sky, ponies he flew over confused him for a shooting star, some colts and fillies even making a wish upon it. When he slowed down and landed, the effect faded and he had reached the pony he was making a final delivery to.
After the letter was delivered, the pony pointed out to Stardust just what he did, and how her daughter had seen it before going to bed and made a hopeful wish, and soon enough, Stardust's cutie mark appeared on his flank. He never truly understood it for what it meant, but he did interpret it as being a 'Shooting Star' for ponies to wish upon, hinting at his idealism. The Roleplayer's Corner

#Sample RP ;
Business was a bit slow for the courier, but never the less, he was psyched for his final job of the day. He was to deliver a small package to a mare's friend in Canterlot, and was offered ten bits to do so. The only problem was the weather that was supposed to be going on. It was supposed to be incredibly windy and a bit of rain, which was why he was wearing a jacket with a special pocket for the package. It was nice and snug, so it would not slip out mid-flight.
I'm not going to beat the weather... he thought before a smile spread on his muzzle as he began to gallop his way towards the ledge of the large cloud. That just makes everything more exciting! he reminded himself as he picked up the pace, his wings flapping once to get ready. With a fantastic leap, the stallion dove right off the cloud, spreading his wings open to glide away before beating the air with his wings. "YAHOO!" he let out a cheer of enthusiasm as he began his trip. Rain, wind, sleet; nothing was going to get in his way!
