Can You Feel the "Royal" Wub Tonight? {Vinyl/Fangy}

Fangy was... unsure if this was right.

Vinyl Scratch was known for her loud nature and very, very loud love of music. Fangy knew that she had put that she liked confident ponies, but she also put that she didn't like rude ponies... Oh, hopefully she was nice. Maybe the DJ Pon3 thing was just a ruse. Fangy had been to several of the DJ's shows before. She wasn't completely fond of the music, but she didn't dislike it.

Oh, hopefully this turned out okay! Fangy didn't know what to do. Should she be equally confident? Should she be herself? Should she be as far from herself as possible? Should she say she likes her music? Should she be honest?

Fangy simply took the form of a light blue mare with a darker blue mane. As a cutie mark, she just put a group of stars. She could work other things out later. "Okay, you can do this, "Nightfall". You're just going on a date. What's the worst that could happen?"

Why did she have to say that? Now something awful was going to happen. Every time a pony said that in a book, something completely awful occurred afterwards, and the pony regretted it later.

No, stop! Stop freaking out. You're overreacting. This is real life. Not a book. Everything will be fine. You'll be fine. Calm down...

Fangy inhaled and exhaled. It was a bit calming. There. Everything would be fine. Bad things could happen, but everything would be fine. Worst case scenario, and Fangy would just change forms and leave. She'd go home, and curl up with a nice book. Yeah... Everything would be fine.

What's the worst that could happen?

Vinyl had a date! Another blind date! It hadn't worked out super duper well last time but it had been fun. This time should be more fun though! She hoped she didn't get some kid like last time. It would be much more interesting to have a date with a full grown mare! She would be able to break out her smoldering gaze and everything. Vinyl wondered how long it would take to shake this mare!

Vinyl came into the restaurant as confident as can be, her shades on her face, as usual. She wasn't specifically dressed up, but her white coat was a bit more radiant than usual. Vinyl has used a special shampoo and everything, just for tonight! Vinyl had promised herself that she was going to show her date a fun time, no matter what. At the very least this mare was going to have a good story after tonight.

One thing Vinyl saw as a hopeful gleam was the mare's name 'Nightfall.' She must like the night then, right!? If so, they'd get along awesome. The night was Vinyl's entire world! Her career, when she was awake, when she got things done? Night time, definitely. The day was for sleeping with heavy curtains over the windows.

They already were at a club after all. It wasn't a super popular one, it only had two or so dozen ponies in it, spread through out the place in small groups. It wasn't hopping with loud music either. there was no DJ at the moment, just calm music. There was a palce for a DJ to be though. Vinyl took note of that "Maybe later." she thought. "Nightfall?" she called out, not incredibly loud, but loud enough to be heard by everyone, to be sure her date would respond.

She did it again! Everything was going to go awfully, just because she had the nerve to ask that question! Oh this was-A voice was calling her name. Her ears perked, and she turned towards the pony. There she was! She looked great. Maybe Fangy was overreacting about earlier. Everything would be fine.

"Vinyl Scratch! Over here!" Nightfall waved to the DJ with a huge smile. She was only wearing shades... Was Nightfall overdressed? She had picked out a short, black dress, since this was where they were spending the evening. Even though they were at a club, it worried her that Vinyl hadn't even dressed up a little... No! She was overreacting again! Making mountains out of mole hills! Vinyl Scratch still looked great. Nothing was wrong! "Hey! Nice to meet you!" Nightfall just had to keep up her smile, and keep her paranoid thoughts as just thoughts. Everything would be a-okay.

Vinyl spotted her mare and was satisfied! It wasn't a kid! They could totally have some fun! This mare had a nice figure, or at least carried herself nicely. Vinyl gave a flirty smile and trotted over to the mare. "Looking good~" she said to the mare. Her eyes were flirting too, but it would be hard to see through the signature shades.

Vinyl really liked the mare's dress. She hoped that her white coat was enough to look fancy! She had gotten cleaner than usual! Her coat was an absolute rarity right now. Rare for her at least. Vinyl found it a real pain to stay stark white, she would have rather been born brown....maybe not. She liked looking cool, white helped that.

"Nice to meet you too Nightfall!" Vinyl said, her tone was alluring. She planned on having fun tonight, at the very least she would make this mare blush a bit! "Would you like something to drink? On me~"

Nightfall definitely took notice of Vinyl's tone of voice. Her blush lasted only a few seconds before she got it under control. She chose to transfer attention back to one of her previous grievances. Upon further inspection, Nightfall was decently surprised. Vinyl's fur was stark white. There were... It was almost flawless! Maybe she had misjudged the DJ. Nightfall made it a personal mission not to do that again to her date.

Then came the mention of a drink... Fangy didn't like alcohol in the least bit. It hindered perfectly capable ponies and caused horrible decision making. Almost no story that had "a few drinks later", ended that sentence well. But, she didn't want to deny Vinyl's generosity, and she didn't want to start the date off on a bad note. How to handle this... "That's alright~! I'll take you up on that offer later~!" You're an idiot, Fangy.

"Aren't you DJ Pon3?" Nightfall was just trying to deflect the conversation away from alcohol. And from her personal screw-up. In her mind, this date was going to Tartarus in a hoof-basket.

This was Vinyl's favorite topic! HERSELF! She could talk about herself for entire minutes without getting off topic, an impressive feat for Vinyl, who sometimes changed subjects mid-sentence or carried off into tangents without even realizing it. She liked this mare already!

"I am DJ-P0n3!' she said, loudly of course. She couldn't really call herself DJ-P0n3 if she wasn't loud, now could she? It earned a few looks from around the place they were in, which prompted Vinyl to take it a step further. 'And you are my date~ Nightfall." she wiggled in place, "Now that we've done introductions twice. what do you want to drink?"

"I was thinking of some wine. I don't have wine often. Usually the places I'm at don't have the right atmosphere for it...but this place seems about right, ya think?"

Vinyl certainly had energy. She was loud, and wiggled in place, and had an overall upbeat outlook! Which Fangy loved... What she didn't love, was the second mentioning of alcohol. Nightfall wasn't going to be lucky enough to avoid this... Maybe she could just get a glass and sip at it... At least that way they'd both have drinks and Vinyl wouldn't keep talking about it. They could move on to better topics! Nightfall fluttered her eyelashes and gave a smile. "This place certainly does have a unique atmosphere..."

Nightfall let her eyes wander all over Vinyl Scratch, trying to take in every inch. Stark white fur, purple shades, blue and teal mane, black cutie mark of some music symbol... Although parts of her appearance screamed loud and obnoxious, Vinyl was a rather beautiful mare... And Fangy had already told herself she'd give Vinyl the benefit of the doubt. "How about we get ourselves some wine and you can tell me more about yourself Vinyl~?"

As Fangy looked over Vinyl, Vinyl smiled, "You like what you see? Spend as long as you like taking it in. We have all night~" Vinyl said with a giggle. These were the exact moments when Vinyl liked her white coat, as opposed to almost every other situation where it was horrible to have. She nodded about the atmosphere. It was different, it was also the right atmosphere though. Just perfect for a date.

"That sounds awesome," Vinyl said, motioning for the bartender to come over, "but you should totally start. I get to talk about myself all the time, I wanna hear about somepony else!"

Fangy looked away, a light blush touching her cheeks. She was lucky she could control that... She was blushing much deeper on the inside.

Oh boy. Talk about herself? This was where she had to think carefully. If she talked about what she really liked, she ran the risk of boring Vinyl. Fangy wanted things to go well. Not that this was bound to go right. She didn't have much of a chance, considering what she was underneath her disguise. Ugh, she was ripping herself apart without even doing anything wrong... She didn't even know if Vinyl hated changelings. She didn't even know if she had a chance with Vinyl yet!

Stop freaking out, Fangy!

"Well, alright Vinyl, if I must~." Great, she was flirting. That's good. At least that didn't come out screwed up. "Let's see... Oh, I own a bookstore." So, she was going to go with the truth. Joy. Hopefully the DJ enjoyed books too... "I moved to Canterlot several months ago, but I originally lived on the road. Y'know, going from town to town and such, reading the stars..." Reading the stars? That's the way you're going to incorporate your cutie mark? You couldn't have just been an astronomer?! Nightfall gave a soft smile physically, while Fangy freaked out mentally.

If you "read the stars", then why do you own a bookstore?! Stupid, stupid, stupid! "There's not a ton of money to be made with my talent, so I opened the store to give me enough money to get by." ... Fangy was getting too good at going on autopilot with her disguises.

Vinyl had never ever met somepony that owned a bookstore. That was probably because Vinyl didn't read many books. She was much to busy to spend time reading. Who reads when they can make music, meet ponies, play music, have fun and have do it again the next night? Nopony. That's who. Vinyl simply was too busy. She could, however, act like she read books a lot. She did read a book occasionally. That would probably be enough to get by on. Vinyl, personally, hoped that looking interested would be enough though.

She smiled at Fangy as she spoke, listening closely. The story was pretty interesting, and a bit out there. It gave Vinyl the feeling that the mare wasn't completely used to talking about herself. That made sense. Weren't book store owners humble anyways? That was totally a book store owner thing. Of course, she wasn't sure if it was a star gazer thing, and that was, by far, the more interesting part of NightFall's story.

"Aaaw, there totally had to be something that would let you pursue your talent!" Vinyl cried out just loud enough to earn a glance from nearby tables. She couldn't imagine what she would have done if she hadn't earned enough money to continue music. In fact, there was a good bit of time when Vinyl was so down on her luck that she probably should've given up music. She hadn't though, because she would have rather been out of money than live without her tunes. "I mean, couldn't you work at one of those giant telescope places? OH! or done studies in Canterlot? Something?" she stopped.

"Sorry, you probably already tried all that...I can be a bit slow sometimes." she said with a smile. "I mean, the store must be nice. What's it called?"

Uh... Fangy guessed that Vinyl didn't know the difference between "reading the stars" and studying them. She could definitely use that to stick to astronomy instead of astrology. And she was also glad that Vinyl was diverting back to the bookstore. "It's fine, Vinyl. I appreciate the thought. And, the store's name is LoveBug's Books."

Fangy took a note from her conversation with a pegasus in Canterlot. "That was my father's nickname for me. I know it's a little silly, but I love it." If only she knew the truth... The truth was definitely more than just a little silly. It was... No. Fangy wouldn't get into that. It might carry over into her conversation with Vinyl. "Dad lives in Manehattan now, and Mom hasn't been around in ages. It's just me and LoveBug's Books now. A pony and a store taking on Canterlot... Rather unsuccessfully~." She laughed.

That was a cute way to name a store! It made Vinyl giggle a bit and feel all giddy, just for a moment. "That's an awesome way to name a store!" Vinyl said with a smile. she didn't have a great relationship with her family, but she still loved to hear about others having a great time.

"I know how you feel. I haven't seen my family in forever and being a DJ can be surprisingly shaky business, even for me." she said, "I bet all you need for your bookshop to do awesome is a little luck. Some more ponies down the street. Wish I could help...but that isn't really my expertise."

"So, why did you sign up for this thing?" Vinyl asked.

Fangy looked around the room. It wasn't at anything in particular. She was trying to find an answer. In other pony's faces, in the lights, in the floor, in Vinyl's shades... Why did she come to this event? Fangy wanted to find true love, sure, but... She was a changeling. It was almost impossible for her. And, it was hard to imagine finding true love in an event known for its spontaneity. So, was there another reason she came? "I don't know why I signed up... Maybe I just wanted something different. Maybe I wanted something I couldn't have. I'm not really sure. I know that sounds weird, but, I'm going through a weird time in my life, so, that's probably normal for me."

Something different? Vinyl was something different! Everyone was always saying how she was 'something else' though it usually wasn't with the most positive of tones. That didn't bother Vinyl though. Her date seemed perfectly happy, after all! Vinyl followed Fangy's eyes as the mare looked around the room, luckily Vinyl's own eyes were hidden by her shades and immune to such observation.

"Something different? I'm totes something different~" Vinyl scooted closer to her date, "And you can so have anything you want! You just have to try hard enough. Trust me, I've got a lot of experience with getting my way!" she added with a devilish smile. "Just so you know, I did it just cuz I thought it'd be fun. You're doing pretty well so far by the way. You still seem sorta closed off though...wanna play a quick two round game of 'Never have I ever?' to break the ice a bit more?"

Just try hard enough... Seemed simple enough. Fangy could do that. She could try harder to get what she wanted. And what she wanted was to find true love. She couldn't find it if she just waited for her knight in shining armor to find it for her. She had to go out and get it herself. When Vinyl scooted closer, she mirrored the action. Fangy could already feel everything loosening up. It could have something to do with the alcohol... That was a plausible idea, up until the fact that Fangy realized they hadn't gotten any alcohol yet. Well, there went that idea. "Sure, let's play~!"
