#Name;Mirage Oasis
#Age Group ; Young Adult
#Gender ; Female
#Species; Changeling
#Cutie Mark ; None
#Occupation ; Steal Love! More specifically, she runs experiments on different ways to obtain love.
#Powers and Abilities ; As a changeling she can fly and do some simple magic but her true talent lies in devising several clever methods to steal love and finding which love 'tastes' best, is the most satisfying, the most fun to get and more. One experimental method she has been working on is based on tapping into a pony's love of music, when she hums and casts this, ponies near by may feel dizzy and a bit confused, especially if they love music.
She also has the tendency to cast actual illusion magic on herself to hide herself doubly well!! Her biggest and best talent goes hand in hand with it! She's a prodigious liar, able of whipping up fantasies from, well, pretty much straight out of her plot. These are all things shes developed to make her better at her talent, things to keep her from being caught. Unlike most changelings, she has little ability in hypnotizing magic and usually resorts through actual manipulation to trick ponies.
#Physique ; Long, lean and thin, like a changeling model
#Mane and fur color and style ; Long and lengthy, it seems to act like a liquid at times and is usually very oily to the touch. It's also incredibly long, dragging on the ground half the time. She washes her hair every day if she's in a hive. One of the many reasons she likes to stay in disguise is that she doesn't have to deal with her hair.
#Eye color ; Green eyes, piercing and can vary from cold and calculating to loving and gentle. They've also been called very bright and vibrant.
#Other appearance details (optional) ; As a changeling she has holes all over her and in her wings, even her horn isn't straight.if you know what I meanHer hair has an odd tendency to 'pool' up, as if it's a liquid. It is not, but it is pretty dang oily most the time, even right after showering.
#A more thorough description (optional) ;Her favorite form to take is that of Saddle Arabian horses. In those forms she usually goes by desert themed names, but each form has a distinct personality she follows. Her favorite is a copy of the Saddle Arabian delegate, which she has named 'Desert Wind'.
#Personality ;
Though this could be said about many changelings, Mirage is quite manipulative. Even among changelings she was known for being a bit cold, mostly interested in her research. She doesn't become attached to others easily but is very possessive once she does. She even goes so far as not preforming her experiments on them. After she has finished an experiment she has a bad reputation, among changelings, of ditching without much of a warning which makes it seem like Desert Wind has suddenly disappeared.
She usually avoids ponies of high standing or that have political sway since she is NOT the real delegate of Saddle Arabia. Though she has her alaby well made, she also is quite confident that anyone who actually knew the delegate would see through her disguise quickly. She does have other disguises though, many actually, but each of them has been a sort of one use and throw away for her. She can also be easily deterred in the face of physical violence.
This is because Mirage Oasis has had one driving force for a large portion of her life, her justification for why she is so cold and so distant from most changelings. To help all changelings, all hive's as a whole, she has fully devoted herself to her research. Her research's purpose is to find a way for changelings to feed without ponies having to fear from negative effects. By finding out how to do this she believes that she can make a world in which all changelings have full bellies...erm...love sacks? This is extremely important to her. She has spent years looking for an answer but...never has gotten quite there, though she knows how to keep herself hidden without drawing too much attention.
Her experiments include the best ways to collect love and stay hidden as well. She commonly portrays different characters in different disguises to try and see which establish a connection the quickest. She is particularly fond of being a damsel in distress.Finally, she's surprisingly vain but, unfortunately, Mirage despises her true form, much preferring the features of other ponies. She loves ponies with long hair, vibrant or different colors, striking eyes or other unusual features. She especially idolizes pony models and actresses .
#History ;
Born to the Hive, but even among ponies she would have a surprising amount of individuality. It was only thanks to her sharp mind and creative spirit that she wasn't constantly scolded for ignoring things that required team work and others to instead work on her own, separating herself to invent, think and sometimes simply be lazy. It still wasn't exactly the most smiled upon work for a young changeling to be participating in. She was constantly reminded that she could be out having fun with the other little nymphs, which she sometimes did, but she much preferred drawing and napping to anything else.
Mirage's hive was placed near a large Saddle Arabian city, the capital actually. While a relatively large hive, compared to the city it wouldn't have made up more than a small percentage of the population, thanks to this the hive was easily able to keep it's existence hidden while having a steady food source and a steady population growth. It was nice for the longest time! Then the Hive started running out of water. It had apparently been a problem for a long time, but only the queen of the hive and a select few had known about it. The news didn't cause immediate problems but by the next year things were going south. The queen had begun practically disabling changelings that's weren't good at keeping themselves a secret. Many changelings were sick, even more were leaving, the hive fell to pieces by year two and not much was left. It was then and only then that Mirage left. By that time she was one of the last few in the hive.
She had grown to hate it in there, sharing the love she gathered with all the changelings who couldn't keep themselves hidden for long enough to grab a meal. The hive had been 'discovered' that was for sure. It just hadn't been found yet. Ponies in the capital were paranoid, not many relationships were starting anymore, love was a scarcity.
When it was getting to the point that she could barely get enough love for those she was friends with, things got a bit scary. She started being forced to give more and more up. She didn't have enough for herself anymore, her disguises were becoming less reliable. It soon became clear that if that kept up, she would be found out and not be able to run. Not willing to be exiled, banished, put in a prison or otherwise sent somewhere, she ran away from the hive, The Queen was becoming rather vicious anyways. She told herself that she would run and study ponies, learn how to better hide, so something like her situation could be better avoided, perhaps she would even find a better way to feed! An indefinitely lengthy one!
She traveled through Saddle Arabia for a year or two and soon found her molts becoming more drastic. Her hair lengthened, her eyes changed and she became much taller. Her chitin also became much softer, along with her horn lengthening and her body becoming thinner. It was confusing at first, and Mirage still can be a bit clumsy thanks to her longer legs, but by the time she finished these molts before even leaving the desert.
Eventually she found her way to Equestria, a place any changeling would recognize as full of love. She began with simple techniques and soon found herself preforming tens of experiments at the same time. It wasn't easy, but it made her feel very, very fulfilled. After all that traveling, she had found the perfect place for her. She was more loved here than she ever had been back in her hive. Even during the holidays, she would have ponies with her, acting as snowbound relatives or unfortunate ponies. It was all just so...perfect. Of course, being discovered was always terrifying. It wasn't common, but once or twice she was discovered, before ditching the crowd following her she usually would have ten to twenty ponies on her tail.
There was one exception though. It was, in her eyes, more dangerous than being chased by ponies. The circumstances had threatened to starve her. A certain Hearth Warming's season she had shown up on the doorstep of a family. Over the next week she could feel more love around her than she usually would feel in restaurants on Hearts and Hooves Days. It was absolutely intoxicating, She found herself full most the time, feeding only small bits of the time. The trouble came when she began to leave and the family revealed that they had known she wasn't who she said she was. They had known she was a changeling and still welcomed her into their house. She thought she had felt sick when being chased, but this was so much worse.
She had never felt guilty for feeding before, but this time she felt horrible. It no longer felt like she had been feeding. It felt like she had taken something from them. They convinced her to stay until the cold weather let up but she found herself leaving, unceremoniously, during the night after the first week and a half. She had tried to feed on the love of the ponies, but she found herself choking on it. It was too sweet and sincere for her now. She couldn't let herself take anymore, but she still had to eat. The only option she had left was to leave. She hasn't been back to Cinncneighatti since, scared that she wouldn't be able to build the will to leave a second time.
The invasion of Canterlot has made her fall on harder times, though she is doing quite well for a changeling. She no longer can freely cast her spells or even use her note taking magic freely. Thankfully her experience in Equestria has given her an easy time of convincing ponies to love her, even with changelings being a household threat, She occasionally meets another changeling and is able to share her studies with them. It's always a rather rewarding experience, but she still has not figured out a fool proof way to feed, so she is still, in her eyes, failing at her purpose in life.The Roleplayer's Corner

Mirage Oasis loved attention. She knew she shouldn't but it was something that she just couldn't get enough of. Maybe it was the challenge, or perhaps even just the thrill of lying that got to her. Either way, something in her head always made her choose forms that tended to stand out in the most positive, and sometimes negative, of ways. She liked to tell herself that her lack of stealth made ponies think it was impossible that the 'pony' standing in front of them was anything other than just that, a pony. That was a lie told to herself. She accepted it without remorse.
Today she was in the small town of Ponyville. It was quaint. She was used to much grander cities, but when traveling she had to at least pass through these little towns. It wasn't her favorite thing to do, but she did get a large amount of her meals from towns like this. She didn't have to be as careful when she wasn't staying put after all. It gave her the chance to try riskier methods of obtaining love. It also meant that she could freely use her favorite disguise, Desert Wind. In bigger cities she had to watch out for diplomats and royalty. There was no chance of any of those kinds of ponies being in a town like this. It was a once every few weeks opportunity!
As Desert Wind she walked through the town market. Her long purple hair bouncing with a bright sheen to it as she towered above all the common folk. This was how she dreamed of being. She would love to just forget this was a disguise and wander around in this form for the rest of her life. That would get her caught though. It would also keep her from doing what she had set out for Equestria for. So she would have to simply enjoy her fun while it lasted and deal with changing back sooner or later.
She sat herself near town square, though not in the center. Here she got just enough attention, not to mention adoration, to feel at ease. She was getting a bit hungry though. She supposed she may have to try her new techniques rather soon. She looked around for someone who had taken specific notice of her, once located she gave the mare, or stallion a deep and flirtatious gaze and gestured them over to her.
"Come here little pony, I would like to talk with you." she said with a sing song tone and a strong Saddle Arabian accent. "I would like to fit in more with this nation's civilians, could you help?"
