Dewdrop Dazzle is a bright and cheerful unicorn with a lot of curiosity! Having spent much of her childhood outside of Equestria, she lacks an awareness of the common things that most ponies know, and coupled with some natural naivety and innocence, its easy to consider her rather dense, perhaps even a bit stupid. Such an assumption, however, is a grave mistake. Dewdrop is actually quite intelligent, and is definitely extremely sensitive. She is quite aware when she is being mocked or made fun of, and she has no compunctions about calling out a pony who thinks to make a little joke at her expense.
In addition, Dewdrop tries hard to hold herself, and everypony around her, to a high standard of morality. This can make her rather unforgiving to moments of weakness in others, as well as a little narrow minded to those with ‘creative’ ideas of good and evil. As are many unicorns, she can be a bit compulsive when it comes to tidiness. Everything has a place, and everything should be in its place. She has not gone as far as color-organizing her bedsheets, but that’s mostly because she can’t decide if the rainbow patterned sheets ought to come first or last.
When it comes to magic, however, Dewdrop can be almost a different pony. Aquamancy is rather a naturally messy kind of magic, and splashes, drips and spills are all part of a day’s study, and those don’t bother her. Although she struggles with even the simpler spells outside her natural talent, she makes a strong effort to practice and expand her skills and accepts with patient humility the blunders, goofs, explosions, and occasional fires that malpractice magic can unfortunately create.
History :
Dewdrop Dazzle was born as the youngest of three foals to Sun Kissed and Spring Showers, two unicorns of wealth, but no particular renown or status in Canterlot. Rich Nobodies, one might say. She showed many early signs of serious magical talent as a filly, particularly at bathtime. She was quickly and easily accepted into the magical kindergarten of Celestia’s school, and while not singled out for special tutoring, she was considered to be a promising student and many teachers looked forward to what her cutie mark would bring.
Alas, they were not to find out for a long time. After a successful business venture importing fine silks and fancy carpets from Saddle Arabia, Spring Showers and Sun Kissed, rich unicorns already, decided that it was time to become interested in philanthropy. Packing up their three children, they left Equestria for the less fortunate countries of the world. There they found much to do with their wealth, Some of which was very successful, such as the founding and funding of schools and hospitals, to projects that were not quite as effective, such as trying to teach methods of agriculture and enlightening the ‘superstitious savage’ to modern methods of science and magic. And there were efforts which were not even slightly efficacious, such as attempts to make peace between warring countries, or trying to convert griffons into herbivores.
During this time, Dewdrop still studied her magic, in correspondence courses, or within the schools that inevitably sprang up whenever her family settled down in a place long enough. But it was one hot, dry dusty year in Zebrica that her true gift finally began to emerge. The small village that she and her family were staying in was in dire straights. The rainy season had completely passed them by, and the river and watering holes had completely baked dry.
Dewdrop was wandering around the outskirts of the village, dazed from the heat and thirst, when she felt a strange wiggling tingle on her horn. Confused, she paused and looked around, wondering if this was some kind of joke. The sensation became much stronger when she turned to her left, so, curiously, she followed the magic until she came to an acacia tree. Here, the magical pulses were almost unbearable, but it seemed impossible to move. Gathering her will, Dewdrop tore herself away- and then froze.
The very spot that seemed to pull her towards it only moments ago was bubbling with fresh, cool water. Water that quickly spread to form a beautiful new watering hole and save the village. At the same instant, Dewdrop’s umbrella-with-hearts cutie mark, a symbol of her love for aquamancy, appeared on her flanks.
Of course, her parents were incredibly proud. Her talent for finding underground water and creating springs and wells quickly became a very important part of her family’s good works, and earned both them and her a great deal of praise and affection from the people they tried to help. But Dewdrop quickly grew bored with the skill. It wasn’t that she didn’t appreciate it’s value, it was just that it became so… routine. So easy! She began expanding on the skill. Purification was the next aspect that she mastered. It was far easier for her to clean water that was already handy and nearby, than to find and bring to the surface water that was hidden underground. After that, she begged her parents for weeks to purchase a particular scroll in Saddle Arabia. This scroll theorized on the interconnectedness of all bodies of water in the world and contained an ancient spell to allow the caster to teleport objects, or even themselves or other living beings, from one source of water to any other the caster could focus on.
Dewdrop, with many hours of study, practice, and a great many mistakes both humorous and dangerous, finally mastered the spell. At that point, she knew it was time to come home again, at least for a while. She longed for access to new books, and yes, she missed all the comforts of home as well. Equestria seemed like a paradise, and she longed to be there again. Her parents took a great deal of convincing, for she was, after all, the baby of the family, but at last they consented to let her return.
However, she has found it quite lonely. Though certainly not stressed for cash, her skills lack much of the value they held in poorer, wilder lands, and she has not yet found ‘A place in Equestria’ for herself. Her lack of awareness of current events has also tended to isolate her a bit, for she finds it difficult to hold conversations with ponies when she must ask for explanations on what seems like the simplest things. The Roleplayer's Corner

Rain! Was there any weather more enjoyable? Dewdrop Dazzle peeked out from underneath her umbrella at the dark and gloomy sky. She was tempted to toss it away and dance wildly in the rain, as some of the Zebra did, but that wouldn’t be a good idea today. She was returning home from the Canterlot Castle library with a pile of books to study, and she didn’t dare even chance a stray drop working its way onto one of those precious tomes! She’d been without new books for so long! A stray whisper caught her ear and she turned towards the sound, seeing a few unicorns about her age looking at her with what seemed like friendly interest.
”Do you think it’s really her?
”It’s got to be!”
”Ask her, ask her!”
Wondering if her family’s reputation might have proceeded her, Dewdrop turned towards the group with a friendly, eager smile. ”Ask me what?” she replied, certain that she was the pony they were talking about. Perhaps it was an invitation to tea! Maybe they needed another mare for some game or challenge! This is it! she thought eagerly. This is the moment I’ll remember forever, the moment I met my future-best- friends! This is where it all begins!”
”Aren’t you Twilight Sparkle?”
”I...Wha? Who’s Twilight Sparkle?” Dewdrop asked, puzzled. It was the wrong answer, apparently. The other unicorns stared at her in dismay and, she thought, a little disgust. ”Sorry… nevermind.” one of them muttered as they turned away ”We just thought that you were… somepony else.”
