Ahh the weekend. A time for the adults to kickback and relax. A time for young foals to get out and play. The sun was shining. The weather was warming up. And Ponyville was peaceful. Everything was set for a perfect day of fun and relaxation. Uh huh. And what Character are you reading this post from? Exactly. Off near the tree line of the Everfree forest, near an path that leads into the Brambles of Chaos, the Nerdasus, Mr. No Brakes, The Winged Blunder, CloudyJack Duderotomy Skies, was busy unloading building materials he had managed to gather from a few construction sites near by. All the wood and bricks were refuse that he had talked the foremen into allowing to be recycled for Ponyville's Defense. None of the pieces were any longer than four feet. Even the stones were small and broken. But into their respective piles they went. Lumber pieces in piles based on how many hooves long they were. The stones in different piles based on roundness and number of flat surfaces. He had also gathered up a collection of used, but not bent, nails. A couple hammers and some rope lay next to the piles along side a thermos of fruit punch and a few plastic cups. Once he had finished unloading, CJ found a nice firm spot of land andused the claw of the hammer to dig up a hole that was just deep enough so his knee would be level with the surface. Satisfied with the small hole, he went back to the cart, pulled out a long bag and walked back over. First from the bag was a wood staff the length of the bag with a sharp skie at one end and a screw end on the other. The then pulled the bag down a bit to reveal another staff end with a connecting spot for the screw end. Twisting it until it was tight, he flipped the bag over and held onto the post which was now double length. Flying up, he gave a mighty thrust, shoving the spike end into the hole and thus into the ground. HE then refilled the dirt and stomped it down until it was compacted. He gave it a flank bump to see that it would stay in place and it didn't budge. Perfect. Now for the unveiling. Flying up, he removed the canvas bag and the Equestrian flag billowed out into the breeze. "Good, now to begin construction of the fort." |
