||| Thunderlane |||
#Name; Thunderlane
#Age Group ; Young adult
#Gender ; Stallion
#Species; Pegasus
#Cutie Mark ; A grey cloud with lightning coming out of it.
#Occupation ; Weather pony (Specifically: Lightning specialist)
#Powers and Abilities ; Thunderlane has an intimate knowledge of lightning and electricity. And I mean intimate. He’s probably been shocked more times than anypony in Ponyville. However, if any questions need to be asked about thunder and lightning, he’s the pony to go to. He’s also a rather good flyer. He’s no Rainbow Dash, but he knows his stuff enough.
#Physique ; Trim and athletic. He has to be to dodge the stray bolts.
#Mane and fur color and style ; Thunderlane’s fur is a dark grey color, and his mane is spiked up into a mohawk. The stripes, which grow perpendicularly from his head, alternate between a silverish blue and a bluish silver. His tail is chopped short, as he regularly finds it in the way. It has the same blue color as his mane, and one single stripe of silver going down the short length.
#Eye color ; Gold
#Personality ;
Thunderlane is often seen as lazy. However, this is actually quite opposite from the truth. He actually trains rigorously, though it is often dark: At night, during a storm, a short distance into the everfree forest, and a few other places most ponies don’t see. Because of this, during the day, he tends to be quite laid back unless called upon to do something. Around other ponies, he can be the friendliest stallion in the world, but his temper can shorten quickly. Usually it’s relieved by a snarky or sarcastic comment or a short glare now and then. However, he’s not afraid to knock some heads together if the need arises. His competitive side rears its head when he’s challenged, but he’s not a sore loser. Instead, with the stress worked out from said challenge, he often laughs and comments on how good of a go it was.
Thunderlane is a thrillseeker, as his treks into the Everfree Forest have shown. He loves a challenge, but he rarely goes so far as to put himself into deadly peril. When he’s not being borderline crazy with some of the stunts he pulls, he boils down to a fun-loving pony, always enjoying a good party with good friends.
#History ;
Thunderlane was born to two pegasi parents in Ponyville. He grew up pretty normally, though through adolescence he found himself inexplicably (to him) attractive to fillies his age. He’s kept that trait, and his complete obliviousness to it, to this day, though it’s toned down quite a bit since he left school. His cutie mark showed itself one day after the inquisitive young Thunderlane, curious as he was, affixed a lightning rod to his tree house and was promptly thrown back a good 20 feet by the expected result. He sat up and, lo and behold, the little lamp he’d connected to his home-made energy storage device (which only took him 426 box tops and a 3 week wait to obtain, and another month and a half to ‘modify’ with instructions from a book) was lit.
After that, the pegasus became fascinated with weather and lightning, dreaming of harnessing the awesome power of electricity and using it to do...er...something. While electricity as a power source was in use, to some extent, the allure of the wild, free energy that was potentially everywhere at once was like a beast to be tamed. No end goal was necessary for him, he just needed to try everything he could to grasp that lightning with his own hooves.
Aside from that, Thunderlane has focussed largely on flying. He practices speed and maneuvering regularly. Mostly, he practices at night or during a storm, so he can adjust himself well to flying in low-light or dangerous conditions. When he isn’t working, practicing, or spending time with his family, he takes some time to tinker with a few ‘inventions’ he’s been working on. Most of them are silly things, meant to do a variety of things related, naturally, to lightning.
His brother being born chilled him out a little bit. He babysat once in a while, and the two got along quite well. He found himself to be a very supportive big brother, and has promised to teach little Rumble to fly properly one day. Still, he could never imagine letting the little runt do the kind of stuff he did. Perhaps a saner profession. Like knitting. Or air traffic control. Or something like that.The Roleplayer's Corner

#Sample RP ;
Thunderlane banked left and right through the trees, his eyes narrowed beneath the goggles he’d made for himself. Though everything looked a bit weird, he pressed on. Swerving around another tree, he felt his wing clip the bark ever so slightly. He clicked his tongue and swerved upwards, breaking through the branches and letting gravity slow his momentum before evening out his wing beats and hovering a good 30 feet above the forest.
“Still need to tweak them...” He removed the goggles from his face and looked them over. They were much more compact and lighter than the last model, but that meant they were less effective. Still, he’d managed to increase his peripheral vision by a good 45 degrees. It took some getting used to, but a little practice set him right, and the slightly condensed vision was manageable now. With a few more tweaks, he’d be able to get it perfect, and he’d only have to glance to the side to see completely behind himself. That was the dream, anyway.
He replaced the glasses back on his face and adjusted them slightly while he caught his bearings. He’d gone quite a ways into the forest. He turned around and smiled, spotting Ponyville in the distance. With a smirk, he let out a sharp “Woo Hoo!” And dove back below the treeline.
