#Name; Rarity
#Age Group ; Young Adult
#Gender ; Female
#Species; Unicorn
#Cutie Mark ; Three light blue diamond shaped gems
#Occupation ; Fashion Designer / Seamstress
#Powers and Abilities ; Rarity has the usual unicorn telekinetic abilities, albeit with exceptional strength and finesse. She is also exceptionally skilled at locating gemstones with her magic, and is also capable of producing dramatic light shows as well as 'attaching' things, even organic matter (such as attaching her tail to Stephen Magnet)
#Physique ; Average
#Mane and fur color and style ; Both mane and tail are purple and dramatically curled. Rarity's fur is bright white.
#Eye color ; Blue
#Other appearance details (optional) ; Rarity is one of only a handful of ponies that use makeup, most evident by her dramatic eyeshadow.
#A more thorough description (optional) ;Rarity fancies herself the greatest fashionista in all of Equestria. Her style is hip and she's never seen at galas without the latest fashion - even her workboots are from an illustrious designer. However, on a day-to-day basis she doesn't dress up - instead, she allows her bleach white fur shine, complimented by her eye shadow and gorgeous purple mane and tail.
She walks with a bounce in her step, probably because she's trying to avoid puddles and mud that most others wouldn't even think about. She's not above a sassy sway of the haunches and a couple blinks of her big eyes if it will get her what she wants, and if that doesn't seal the deal, her mid-Equestiran accent and eloquent speech will.
#Personality ;
Rarity is an extremely vain pony, focused more on appearances than personality. Her vanity is so extreme that it has, at times, damaged her relationships with others, especially her younger sister. Her sense of style is unsurpassed and she loves to flaunt what she's got, including her incredible persuasive ability with ponies of the female-loving persuasion. She's not above shaking a little flank to get what she wants or to help out her friends.
She really isn't a bad person, though - you'll never meet a pony more giving, and it makes sense that she's in possession of the Element of Generosity. Whether she's giving her tail to a sea serpent in the middle of a bad hair day, or designing (and re-designing) her friend's gala dresses for free, she's willing to go the extra mile for others, especially if it results in getting attention.
Second only to her love of beauty, Rarity has an obsession with the spotlight. Anytime she's not the focus of attention is not a good time for anyone. She does try to overcome this, with varying degrees of success, but even when she tries to hang back, things tend to go badly. She even has a tendency to fall madly in love with anyone in a position of power.
Rarity is also obsessed with order, compulsively straightening things out and cleaning and having a near panic attack whenever someone else tries to clean for her. She tends to fixate on cleaning and organizing whenever the opportunity for either presents itself, sometimes to the exclusion of all other activities.
#History ;
Rarity's passion for fashion started at a young age - as a filly, she was constantly designing clothes and costumes for herself and everyone around her. It was in doing this that she discovered her cutie mark. After creating costume after costume for a school play, her teacher made the mistake of referring to them as "nice." Rarity was miffed at this - her costumes needed to be spectacular. In her frustration, she becomes depressed with herself and convinced she's not meant to be a fashion designer. Suddenly, her horn begins to glow, and a mysterious force of Unicorn magic drags her through Equestria to a large rock.
Dismayed, she shouts her rage, until Rainbow's Sonic Rainboom cracks the boulder open. The inside of the rock is packed full of gems, which inspire Rarity. She takes some of them and uses them to redesign her costumes - achieving not only her goal of spectacular costumes, but her cutie mark.
Throughout the series, Rarity has grown immensely - from her original overbearing self, wanting to give Twilight a complete makeover and dye her fur, to understanding that not everyone wants to comply with her standards of beauty. Her fear of the dirty has also diminished somewhat - she willingly joins her friends on adventures that frequently result in her getting dirty or even, in one case, working in a mine.
Currently, Rarity run the Carousel Boutique, where she produces a line of clothing that is sold not only to the Ponyville ponies, but in Hoity Toity's stores in Canterlot. Not only does she design clothes, she's also shown to have decorating skills, decorating for the Summer Sun festival and creating bird's nests for the winter wrap-up. She also had a crush on Prince Blueblood, until she met him in person and discovered that he was rude and conceited.The Roleplayer's Corner

"Oh, no no no no!' Rarity's curls bobbed as she shook her head, tongue clicking as she studied the other pony's outfit. "You absolutely can't go out like that, I simply won't allow you to make such a mistake!" She reached out with one hoof and lifted the limp fabric of the mare's dress.
"It's much too baggy, this fabric has absolutely no drape, and this color just makes you look nauseous." Rarity turned as she spoke, trotting up to a shelf of smooth, satiny fabric and pulling a few bolts of a rich teal down. She tossed these onto a table, then pulled a few more bolts of the same color, in a less-shiny but stiffer fabric, off a different shelf. These went into the pile too, and she turned to study them for a minute.
Her gaze went from the waiting customer, back to the pile of fabric a few times. Her horn lit up for a moment, and suddenly some black fabric joined the teal, along with some sort of black metal fastener. "This is a much better color for you," she explained, "And with a nice updo for your mane and maybe a good ruffly dress, you'll be absolutely drop-dead gorgeous!"
