||| Ranbow "Danger" Dash |||
#Name; Rainbow Dash (AKA Rainbow Crash, Danger Dash, Dashie, RD, Duchess Rainbow Silverhoof Dashiel of Cloudsdale (Please never mention that last one))
#Age Group ; Young Adult
#Gender ; There is a quick-response medical team devoted to ponies who call Rainbow a colt. Make of that what you will.
#Species; Pegasus, though she does have Quetzalcoatl in her ancestry.
#Cutie Mark ;
You all know what this is. This? This is a rainbow bolt, like a lightning bolt except, well, 20% cooler. What does it mean? Ha! It means Rainbow Dash is the fastest pegasus in the sky, and can do stunts at amazing speeds! Yeah, she's that awesome.
#Occupation ; Regional weather manager for Ponyville.
#Powers and Abilities ; Master of the Sonic Rainboom and associated pegasus magic, encyclopedic knowledge of weather phenomena and manipulation, racer extraordinaire, and probably sweats raw awesome (the last one has yet to be confirmed, pending Twilight admitting raw awesome exists at all).
#Physique ; You wanna racer, you don't look further then this pony right here. She's lean and powerful, with longish legs and wings that can flare out to an impressive distance (if she does say so herself). A look at her face is almost like a look at a bullet, you got that? It's like, like, a cone thing! A mach cone, yea! But made into a face. A face, it must be added, that is most often formed into a cocky grin and a daring gaze.
#Mane and fur color and style ; Rainbow Dash has a bit of Quetzalcoatl in her blood, and boy does it show. Her untamable mane and tail are resplendent with all the colors of the rainbow, and even her sky-blue coat seems constantly windswept. Truly, the pony is a sight to behold... if you can ever get her to stop flying around and bragging.
#Eye color ; Rose... but she doesn't like calling it that, since, you know, it's kinda froufrou.
#Other appearance details (optional) ; While usually unclothed, Rainbow will frequently wear a pair of flight goggles specifically for speed or weather-work. She also has a surprising array of athletic outfits, ranging from a simple sweatband and whistle for track runs to a more traditional martial arts ki and black belt. The pegasus does keep the outfits her friend Rarity makes for her in her closet, alongside (shudder) the Noble Regalia of the Fifteenth Duchess of Cloudsdale which she will deny exists at all. And of course, she has her hoof-made Wonderbolts outfit, despite the fact she's not a wonderbolt... yet.
#Personality ;
Brash, arrogant, self-absorbed... yeah, Rainbow Dash has acknowledged these are all true, and she does try to control it. But dang if she doesn't have a reason to be! This pegasus is braver then the majority of her peers, willing to power through any danger to get the job done. And she WILL get the job done because ponies are DEPENDING on her! Sure, she'll show off a bit while doing it, and maaaaybe she acts before she gets the full view of the situation, but standing by when you can do SOMETHING is just not her style, dig? And when she's not out saving ponies or helping them with problems they can't solve themselves, well, she's either training to be ready or taking one of many well earned naps. Gotta be ready to move day or night, can't let sleep take you!
...so highly does Rainbow Dash pursue this rather monodimensional aspect of her personality that an observant pony might suggest she is in fact insecure. An INTELLIGENT pony would make sure they were out of earshot before making this observation, or at least check their medical insurance. But the fact is, in this sense, the oldest of the Elemental Harmony Squad is also the least mature, unwilling to show any sign of weakness or doubt and certainly not willing to be seen as a froufrou pegasus. Any threat to her integrity as a heroic figure frightens her immensely, and she often lashes out at it in order to keep herself on top. Still, she's been getting better with the help of her friends; Rarity has managed to convince her that froufrou and feminine aren't the same, and her oldest friend Fluttershy has suggested that maybe a little bit of emotion is occasionally alright in appropriate situations. So it is that the brash and harsh pegasus is slowly, slowly opening up. But not getting soft! Just... more approachable.
#History ;
Rainbow's family life is extremely, extremely complicated. Firstly, three brothers each married one of three sisters. Secondly, all the couples had a large amount of foals, at least five each. Thirdly, the couples would rotate babysitting duties so that one or two could go to work while the remainder watched the kiddos. And finally, the sister's mother was actually a duchess of Cloudsdale descended from a long line of said nobility.
You can imagine how chaotic her childhood must have been.
Rainbow Dash was number five out of seven of the youngest mother's children, and from birth was destined to hold the legal title of Fifteenth Duchess of Cloudsdale when her mother and aunties passed away. However, she was an absolute terror in the family mansion, getting up to ludicrous antics with some of her siblings/cousins and generally being... well, a brat. Her natural talent at flight, however, gave her father a BRILLIANT IDEA! Send the brat off to flight camp. And so she was sent, in order to learn... DISCIPLINE.
That didn't actually happen. In fact, after befriending a griffon even rougher then her, winning a race with a Sonic Rainboom, earning a cutie mark for speed, and practically hammering through every challenge the camp had to provide, she became even more unruly and unmanageable.
So, with a sigh and a futile shake of their heads, her parents cut her off from any monetary support.
The effect was immediate. Now homeless and destitute, Rainbow Dash was forced to take up the job of cloudpushing for the weather crews. Still, she received free training in weather mechanics; in fact, she quickly decided if this was how she was going to earn her keep then she was going to be the best of the best. A new side showed in the young pegasus, a simple willingness to do what needed to be done, and her superiors took notice of her continued efforts. She climbed the ranks through talent and skill, learning the value of teamwork; eventually, she was given reign over a small town called Ponyville, and provided by the weather company with a cloud home of her own.
Rainbow Dash did eventually reconcile with her family, after she helped them out of a legal jam by using her weather knowledge to get her uncle off the hook for a false accusation of paperwork fraud. Still, her life in Ponyville was actually pretty classy, compared to being just another rich brat in the mansion. So while she did love hanging around with her sibs/couzes, she decided to remain on the ground for a while; she also very pointedly hid any hint of her noble upbringing, as she absolutely hated froufrou and did NOT want anypony sticking it on her unnecessarily. Her time on the ground was spent reconnecting with childhood friend Fluttershy, striking up a rivalry with fellow athlete Applejack, avoiding the well intentioned but entirely too girly Rarity, and... well, Rainbow didn't know what to make of Pinkie when she came round, but that was par for the course.
And then Nightmare Moon came and she got an ego boost. And a whole new persona she had to live up to. Element of Loyalty? Boss. Trying to be loyal while still being awesome? Kinda hard...The Roleplayer's Corner

Rainbow Dash was not having a good day.
"I ordered ten square acres worth of cumulonimbus clouds, not two square acres of cumulus!"
She pounded her hoof on her front porch, glaring at the Cloudsdale colt who was hoisting the cloud corral. To his credit, he seemed to realize he was in trouble. "Um, but... but isn't it the same effect?"
"NO! No it is NOT the same, haven't you ever heard of a downburst?! Not to mention the wind levels, Celestia the wind..." It would be a practical disaster if she lit this thing on Ponyville, everypony would have to batten down and stay in their home for a week. Dash sighed, rubbing her eyes. "Look, kid. I don't think this is your fault, somepony probably screwed up the paperwork again."
"Oh, uh... right." The colt nodded. "That would, yeah, that works!" He grinned nervously as the weathermare eyed him.
After a moment, the cerulean pegasus shrugged and took off, flying around the thunderhead cautiously while she examined it. Hmmm... she could still use the thing, with a few adjustments... Landing back on her porch, she fixed the unfortunate colt with a glare. "Okay. Here's what we're going to do."
"Um, we?"
"YOU are going to go get Mayor Mare. You are going to explain to her why she payed for ten acres and is only getting..." Rainbow glanced up. "...oh, let's say, six. I will stay here, smash this thing to bits, and remake it as the right cloud type."
"Er... I don't think that's possi--"
The colt cowered under Rainbow's glare.
"Kid? I do the impossible on a regular basis. This isn't just possible. This is a piece of cake. What ISN'T a piece of cake is getting the paperwork for this whole problem sorted out. Now I could do that and let you fix the cloud, or you could take some responsibility. Your choice."
Dash smiled at the trail of dust the colt left as he headed toward Ponyville. Heh, she still had it...
The mare pulled her goggles on with a snap, glancing into the midday sky. Then she ascended, higher and higher and ever higher, wings a constant pounding at her back. The cloud towered above her, almost insurmountable... but only almost.
At the height of her rise she paused, allowing herself a brief moment of weightlessness as gravity overcame her inertia.
Then Rainbow Dash focused downward at the cloud.
Faster and faster did she push herself, gravity her ally as she built up speed. Closer did the tip of the thunderhead draw; tighter did the shape of air form around her. And then--
KRAKATHOOOOOOOOOM
The cloud twisted, collapsing into component parts as a rainbow light rippled out from its core. A second rainbow, a speeding trail, gathered up the components and packed them furiously; within moments, what had once been a skyscraper was now a collection of trailer homes, metaphorically speaking. Rainbow Dash finally slowed herself down to examine her work, breathing heavily as she turned round in midair.
"....Whooo! Yeah! Radical!" The pegasus threw up her hooves, looked around... then crossed them with a grumble. "Aaaaaaand nopony saw it. Great."
Rainbow Dash was not having a good day.
