Most of the time he is working of the apple family apple orchid. While Applejack, Applebloom, and Granny Smith all do their parts. It is often left up to Big mac to do the larger jobs. He doesn't mind since he has spent all of his life on the farm, he enjoys the work no matter how hard it might be.
#History ;
From the time he was born Big Mac was a bit larger then anyone else his age. He spent most of his time being taught how to work on the apple farm by Granny Smith. Which at times was a long and sometimes very slow process. As the years passed big Mac grew even larger and stronger. That was mostly because he had to do a lot of the heavy lifting and pulling by himself.
Big Mac's got his cutie mark when he was just a little colt. He was the last in his class to get his cutie mark. It as a time he would never forget. It was time to for the apple harvest and it was going to be the first year he was going to do more then just help. This year one apple had managed to grow out of control. It was a green macintosh apple that was now around six feet tall and six feet wide. Unfortunately, Granny Smith pulled a muscle in her back on the first day trying to move it all on her own. She told him not to worry and just to harvest as many as the apple trees as he could. He wasn't confident that he could finish.
Every day after he had picked as manny apple trees as he could, he would try to push and pull the large apple to seemingly no avail. The days went by quickly as he spent all day and night trying to get as much work done as possible. A few days went by of the same routine until Granny Smith had healed enough to help him finish picking the apple trees. One day Granny Smith brought a machine large enough to move the apple and it worked well enough. That was until, while she was moving it, the part of the maching holding the large apple broke. While she wasn't being crushed by the now broken machine, it was making it so that she was trapped.
After taking a few deep breaths and backing up a few steps Big Mac too a runn at the apple and at the last second turned around a kicked it with both legs. The large apple barley even budged and it looked like it had almost no effect. He didn't give up and on his second attempt he got even more speed and the large apple wobbled just a little before being completly still again. With the rest of the apple family away to do their own work in other places, and Big Mac not wanting to leave Granny Smith trapped in order to to try and find help he made one last attempt. This time he backed up as far as he could and still see the large apple in the distance, and in his final charging kick Big Mac split the apple right in half with the two pieces falling to either side of the machine. After he helped Granny Smith up she noticed that his cutie mark had appeared and it looked just like one of those two peices of apple now lying on the ground.
The next day in class he told any pony that would ask the story of how he got his cutie mark. Big Mac would go on to get bigger, stronger, and faster every year. He loved working on the apple farm, but he wouldn't experience any other stories that interesting for a few years. That was because just a year or two later Applejack was born and Big Mac's life changed once again.
When Applejack was born it was a great day for him. Having a sibling was something he had wanted. It was so that he could have someone other then Granny Smith to talk to. To him most of what Granny Smith said either didn't make since and even after she explained it to him it was till strange. Other times he had to sit through hours of one of her stories. Which to be fair her stories were interesting, but she often started them when he was busy working.
Applejack was much more vocal about the things she did then he ever was. While Applejack is a great little sister, she can be very stubborn at times. Other times she seemed to take offense anytime he tried to give her good advice. Then if nothing else there was always to much work to be done that there was not time for them to do much sibling bonding.
Big mac had fully become almost silent for the majority of the time by the time apple bloom was born. She is so energetic about getting her cutie mark with her friends that she can very easily get herself into trouble. Applebloom means well enough, but Big mac has found himself having to scold her for her and her friends strange plans going airy. He knew that she would find her special talent sooner or later. He just hoped it never involved another love poison.The Roleplayer's Corner

It was a normal day in ponyville for most everyone, that is except for Big McIntosh. Today was one of the few days there wasn't a whole day's worth of work to do at the apple orchid. The problem was most of the ponies he knew were busy that day. It felt like it had always been that he always tried to get involved, but was either busy or to late to get involved.
Big Mac wandered around town for a while and saw that it was quiet. It looked like Applejack and her friends were all out doing something. It always felt like Ponyville was at a standstill when they weren't around. There were still plenty of ponies doing their everyday work, but it wasn't nearly as interesting as when those six were around.
It was still relaxing not having to work all day, and Big Mac still enjoyed being able to see most of Ponyville. Although, he was never a shy colt, he never could figure out how to start a conversation unless he was already involved with the situation to begin with. He slowly made his way back to Applelosa and thought about how quiet of a life he had lived so far. While he did enjoy his life, he did wish that some ponies other then his sisters could see him as more then being useful when they needed to move or carry something.
When he got home Granny smith asked him if he had an interesting day off from work. Despite all those thoughts he had of trying to speak more there was only one way he could answer. "Eeyup." Maybe that was the best he could do for today, but he would try to speak casually more often in the future.
