Perhaps because of his age, Shady Daze does not tend to understand non-literal expressions very well. But what makes this more noticeable is that he doesn’t realize that he is lacking in this area, so he doesn’t seek clarification. This can be helpful when it allows him to ignore sarcasm or other negative statements that are not straightforward. Ponies who know him tend to realize that if they want to give him feedback of any kind, it’s best to just say what you want to say.
A byproduct of his lack of nuance is that he tends to be a straight shooter for other ponies. No one has to guess where they stand with Shady Daze. If a pony asked for his advice, that’s what he would give them although he wouldn’t hesitate to say that he didn’t know how to help with their problem. A less positive trait is that he is not great at telling stories, as he tends to stick to the facts rather than paint a creative verbal picture.
Shady Daze is a social colt and likes to become a member of any club willing to have him, even if he doesn’t start out with any experience in the target area of the club. After being promoted to head photographer favorite activity has become working on the Foal Free Press, but his duties allow him to attend other club meetings. While he isn’t unaware that he still hasn’t earned his cutie mark, Shady Daze figures he’ll eventually earn through his participation in club activities.
#History ;
With parents in two different lines of work, Shady Daze has never had much of a clue where his life was going to take him. He quickly assumed that he would be one of the last students in his class to receive his cutie mark and so far hasn’t been proven wrong. While rarely a ring leader or a big mover or shaker, Shady Daze is quick to get in on anything interesting.
One of high points in his schooling was when he joined the Foal Free Press. He was originally the pony that ran the printing press itself. Shady Daze didn’t find that job particularly fun and as the paper grew in popularity thanks to the Gabby Gums stories, Shady’s foot tended to get more and more tired. However, he was assigned to a job and he stuck to it, which eventually allowed him to be promoted to head photographer when Featherweight was promoted to editor. Shady Daze has taken his new role as photographer just as seriously as he took his last job and documents as many exciting things as he can.
Shady Daze was one of Apple Bloom’s many classmates who were originally amazed at the abilities that she was able to perform while she had the cutie pox and was one of the ponies that tried their own hand with the hoops his classmate brought, though he wasn’t nearly as talented as the enchanted filly.The Roleplayer's Corner

While snow and ice could make for beautiful landscapes, it could also make a lot of landscapes look about the same. This gave a special challenge to Shady Daze during the winter months. His filler shots had to be more pony based than scenery based, aside from a picture or two for the header. While Shady Daze knew that his editor understood the difficulties of the position, he didn’t want to settle for mediocrity. All he had to do was find some ponies doing fun things and he’d be set.
He moved around at a slow gallop to try to cover ground without looking like he was in a race. His camera swung from side to side as he moved, which was almost enough to throw the earth colt’s balance off. Almost.
Had he the ability to both keep moving and check the note card in his saddle bag, he would have went over the requested picture topics. He was pretty sure he remembered the big ones like ice skating and snowponies, but he had already taken pictures of those. Well, if he took a picture of a bunch of things, he’d have to eventually take a picture of something on the list.
As soon as Shady stopped to take a shot, he was run into by a bigger pony, causing him tumble over himself. He looked at the older pony, who was upside down in his vision, and took a picture of him. “Sir, you were just in a collision with a member of the media, can I get a statement for the Foal Free Press?” Shady wasn’t a writer, but hey, here he was without a reporter around.
