#Personality:
Applejack is as straightforward and as honest as an apple tree, which seems to be a family trait. Not only does she avoid lying, she's pathetically bad at it. But this honesty doesn't just apply to words. Applejack's actions are just as honest. She tries hard to do the right thing, even if it's hard, especially if it's hard. And Applejack is also true to herself. She knows who she is and she wouldn't be anypony else for all the bits in the royal coffers. She only needed to learn that lesson once.
Valuing practicality over aesthetics, Applejack never lets a little dirt, grime, sweat or rough edges get between her and the thing she wants, or needs to get done. She'd take the straight path through the mud puddle rather than the winding one around. While this does make her a very effective worker, She can become impatient with the detailed nitpicks of other ponies, particularly Rarity, and a bit insensitive to the feelings of ponies who really mind mess, even a little one.
For a pony that doesn't mind getting 'down and dirty,' this member of the Apple family has a surprising amount of pride. She takes pride in her skills, pride in her family, pride in her friends and pride in her farm. With so many things to take pride in, Applejack is naturally very friendly and outgoing, as well as reliable and dependable. She'd never turn a hungry pony away, or refuse help that she was able to give. With so much pride, however, comes an embarrassing amount of stubbornness. Any suggestion that she is incapable of a task is a surefire way to get her to kill herself trying to do it. Any suggestion that her friends or family are not what they should be will inevitably make her lose her temper and jump to their defense. And you don't want to insult her farm. You just don't!
Lastly, hard work and the need to assume responsibility has caused Applejack to grow mature a little bit faster than her friends. Though not entirely without a temper of her own, she's more likely to use her natural 'horse-sense' and not be carried away by the moment. And if she finds herself losing her temper or stepping out of line, she will often correct herself and be the first to apologize. Yet, Applejack can be surprisingly superstitious sometimes about things she has little understanding about, such as Zecora or Pinkie Pie's 'Pinkie sense'.
#History:
Applejack was born on the Apple Family Farm along with her older brother, Big McIntosh and a few years later, her younger sister, Applebloom. Unlike her older brother, she doesn't have too many memories of their parents, for while her little sister was still just a baby, something happened to them. And not even Pinkie Pie can get her to talk about that.
Almost as soon as she was able to walk, she was finding ways to help out on the farm. It was not overly complicated stuff, but it was hard work and Applejack often found herself discouraged. It didn't help that she was often teased by some of her classmates, both for being a farm girl and being a blank-flank for the longest time. It wasn't fair. She worked harder than almost anypony! Fed up with dull, hard working country life, she told Granny Smith that she'd had it and wanted to go live with with her aunt and uncle Orange. Surprisingly, Granny smith understood and let her go.
But fancy-pantsy City Life wasn't the dream she thought it would be. She got frustrated by the lack of exercise she used to get at home on the farm. She was often extremely hungry, as not only were the meals she was served much smaller than she was used to, but they often tasted funny, or had strange ingredients. And the ponies she met in the city were often just as mean as the ones she'd left behind! Oh, they hid their meanness behind snobby manners, but the intent was still there. One day, she was looking out her window and a loud explosion, followed by a rainbow, seemed to point the way home. Convinced it was a sign, Applejack raced for home, not even bothering to pack her things. Seeing her family again, Applejack knew she'd made the right choice and then, clear as day, there it was, her Cutie Mark!
Of course, things were not suddenly, magically, so much easier for her. The hard work was still hard, and sometimes it seemed that the more she worked, the more there was to do! But slowly, over time, Applejack learned the skills she needed, how to buck, how to build, how to bake, and how to herd animals, among other things. And though it really had taken a long time, one day she realized how far she'd really come and she learned to take pride in her hard work!
One day, a unicorn named Twilight Sparkle came to her farm to check up on some food preparations for the Summer Sun celebration that was being held in Ponyville that year. Little did Applejack (or anypony else, really) guess that it was the beginning of some very strange events. For when dawn was to arrive the very next morning, it didn't. An evil being by the name of Nightmare Moon came instead of their beloved Princess Celestia, and told them that the night would last forever! Twilight seemed to be the only pony who knew anything about it, and Applejack, along with Fluttershy, Rarity, Pinkie Pie, and Rainbow Dash, followed the unicorn to the library as she looked for something, anything, that could stop the wicked alicorn. When research uncovered that the answer might lie within the Everfree Forest, Applejack insisted that they all go in together, even though it didn't particularly please Twilight at first. It turned out to be a good thing in the end though, for each pony turned out to have a particular gift that saved them, again and again. And in the end, it was revealed that all six ponies were a living embodiment of the Elements of Harmony. And together, they restored the wicked Nightmare Moon to her real self, the long lost Princess, Luna. They had saved the day and gained a new friend.
However, once again, just because you save the day once, doesn't mean that it's time for your 'happily ever after.' Though there were many milder sorts of adventures in-between, including one very exciting visit to Appleoosa, their next big challenge came when another ancient evil awoke, a spirit of chaos and disharmony, Discord. This clever being knew just how to begin, stealing their elements of harmony and then, by deception and delusions, creating conflict between the friends and making each pony unable to use their element. Though some ponies were more susceptible to it than others, and sadly, Applejack was one of the first to succumb. Though things seemed grave, Twilight found a way to remind each of who they were, and united once more, they defeated Discord again and turned him back into stone!
Peace restored once more, the ponies were free to go back to their everyday lives. But that was a rough season for our Applejack. She entered a rodeo competition in Canterlot, hoping to win enough prize money to repair the roof of the Ponyville town hall- but to her utter humiliation, failed to win first place in any single event. Too embarrassed to come home, she took a job on a cherry farm, hoping to make enough money to repair the roof by bucking cherries. Fortunately for her, her friends sought her out and through their friendship and understanding, Applejack came to realize that they needed her, not her prize money.
It was a lesson learned none too soon, for soon after she came home, Cider Season began and her family had to work extra hard to try and meet the demand for this year. Unfortunately, once again, it wasn't enough, and two swaggering unicorns with a ridiculous machine stepped in and threatened to run them out of business and off their farm. But with the help of her friends, Applejack managed to produce enough real cider to supply everypony and run those two con-artists and their contraption out of Ponyville!
Though these were important events to Applejack personally, an event of Equestrian importance loomed up suddenly when Twilight announced that her brother, Shining Armor, was to be married to a princess! Princess Celestia had made a request of each pony, and Applejack was given the task of catering the wedding. Royal weddings are a lot of work, and though Aj could see that Twilight was unhappy about the upcoming nuptials, She didn't have the time to seriously address her friend's concerns. But it turned out that she would have done better to pay attention, for as it turned out, this Princess Cadance turned out to be the changeling queen, Chrysalis, at head of a changeling army! though the element bearers made a valiant effort to get to their elements of harmony to help, they were ultimately unable to do so. But in the end, the real Princess Cadance was able to awaken Shining Armor and repel the changelings themselves!
Well, you cant save the day every time!

#Sample RP:
Applebuckin' was hard work. Even when a pony got used to delivering just the right amount of strength into every kick- not too soft or ya wouldn't get all the apples, not too hard or you'd waste your energy and maybe even hurt the tree- It was still hard work. But Applejack liked it. She liked the satisfyin' thwack of the kick, liked seeing the apples tumble neatly into the buckets she laid out around the tree. She liked gettin up early in the morning, and best of all, she liked workin side by side with the best brother around (in her opinion) Big McIntosh.
This morning, as they both pulled their carts down to the west orchard, which was ready for buckin, Applejack looked at Big Mac with a grin. Ponies didn't give him enough credit sometimes. Because he was so quiet and a bit shy, they thought ...well who knew what they thought? They didn't know him like she did! "I betcha I can get mah cart filled up and back to the barn before you can, today!" the mare drawled, a sparkle of friendly competition in her eyes. She saw the slow grin spread across his face and though he didn't respond, she knew her challenge had been accepted.
They set to work right away, bucking with more enthusiasm than usual. Though Big Mac had the advantage in strength, Applejack had an advantage in speed, and they were pretty evenly matched. Their carts filled up at about the same rate, and it was only on the last tree, a stubborn one that always gave them trouble, that Aj faltered. Her first kick didn't get all the apples, and her second one only brought down a few leaves. Big Mac, grinning, loaded his last basket and began pulling his cart towards the barn. Gritting her teeth, the earth pony reared up on her forelegs and delivered a hard, solid kick to the trunk, one that would have injured a tree less stubborn than this one. At last, the remaining apples dropped and Applejack nearly threw her bushel baskets into her cart.
Leaping into the traces, she threw her weight forward to get the cart moving. She could still see her brother up ahead, if she put her back into it, she might still catch up and be first into the barn. But when he saw her coming, he also picked up his pace, and she couldn't quite get there first. Both ponies arrived breathless, but Big McIntosh was just a step ahead!
"Hooooo-weeeeee Big Mac, Ah thought ah had you fer sure, that time. But y'all won, fair and square. this time." Applejack admitted with a laugh. Big McIntosh just smiled.
