#Personality ;
Apple Bloom’s primary drive is that she wants to transition from being seen as the baby of the family and start being seen as a maturing pony. Because of this, earning her Cutie Mark is the biggest thing on her radar and something she doesn’t have a lot of patience with. Like many other foals, she sees this as a very important part of growing older. This drive was one of the major reasons that she co-founded the Cutie Mark Crusaders and it dictates much of her day to day activity that doesn’t pertain to chores or school. There are few activities that she is not willing to try if it might mean she’ll achieve her goal, even when the mark she’d likely earn wouldn’t be ideal.
Usually she is very outgoing and optimistic, which colors her perception of the other ponies around her. Apple Bloom is remarkably above many superstitions and has been shown to ignore the stigmas created by the other members of Ponyville, such as the collective fear of Zecora, whom she befriended easily. Aside from ponies who actively make others’ lives worse (like bullies), she hasn’t met anyone that she didn’t like. Additionally, she is capable of granting forgiveness very quickly if the other pony truly wants it. But while she has little trouble meeting new ponies nor maintaining friendships with them, she does strongly consider the way she is perceived and can be easily embarrassed if the right circumstances are in place.
Apple Bloom sees her big sister Applejack as the coolest pony in Ponyville, with her big brother Big Macintosh as both the second coolest pony and the coolest stallion. She holds her grandmother, Granny Smith in a similarly high regard. Unlike some other amily relationships, Apple Bloom and her family co-exist pretty easily and she enjoys hanging out with them.
#History ;
Apple Bloom has no memory of her parents, both of which were out of the picture before her mind was really recording her life. To this day, it’s an event she has very little knowledge of, as no one in the family likes to talk about it. Carrying on that tradition, Apple Bloom doesn’t share the pieces of the story that she does know. However, because she’s never been at a loss for love or guidance, she does have the benefit of being the member of the family who is least emotionally burdened by their loss. It’s hard to miss what you never really knew you had. She is similarly unaware of her sister’s short lived departure to Manehatten beyond the stories she’s been told.
Aside from that, Apple Bloom has had it pretty good. Her siblings and grandmother all took on the parental role and taught her many of the skills that keep Sweet Apple Acres operating. Due to the work ethic that’s rampant throughout their family, Apple Bloom quickly wanted to apply all of the knowledge that she had gained from their teaching and her own observations. It didn’t take long for the family to know where she could help and where she needed to let her older siblings handle things, although she continues to try to jump in to those tasks as well from time to time.
Her life changed soon after meeting Twilight Sparkle, who became a friend of Applejack’s. While many of their adventures did not directly affect Apple Bloom, the town itself was somehow changed for the unicorn’s presence. On top of that, Apple Bloom was very key to the lesson Applejack and her friends learned concerning Zecora, a zebra who actually turned out to be really nice and wise.
As more and more of her classmates began to develop their cutie marks, Apple Bloom began to feel distanced from the rest of her class, whom she believed would all earn their marks before she did. During this time, she was teased more heavily than she had been before. This trying time ended up bringing about one of the best changes as she formed the Cutie Mark Crusaders with fellow blank flanks Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle, whom she hadn’t known that well before the incident. Together, the three of them began to develop and execute many plans to earn their Cutie Marks.The Roleplayer's Corner

A lot of ponies talked about how cheerful or optimistic they were, but Apple Bloom had always been taught that farming ponies had to be the most optimistic at all. They spent their lives planting little seeds that they hoped would grow into strong, full grown plants that would feed the entire area. Year after year they all had to hope that the choices they made would pan out. Everypony else only had to wait for it. But if optimism was one of the most important ingredients for a good farming pony, then Apple Bloom didn’t have to worry. Optimism was what she was all about.
Of course, Apple Bloom wasn’t sure if she’d be a farming pony forever, it had yet to give her a cutie mark and she had been doing it since she was really little. But it was clearly what she was going to be for the time being and something she doubted she’d ever move too far away from. So even if it might not be her calling, it didn’t mean that she couldn’t be good at it until her run was over. Besides, the better she was at it, the quicker she finished her chores and could go out and work on finding her Cutie Mark.
But it wasn’t all about the speed. Some of it was about days like today. The seeds she had helped plant and tend to now had grown to a size she could see above the soil. They were little, but impossible to mistake if you knew what you were looking for. Even with a lifetime of these scenes, it was still pretty cool to see it. Maybe they weren’t optimistic, maybe they were just good at their job. But maybe they were both.
