#Name; Lyra Heartstrings
#Age Group ; Young Adult
#Gender ; Female
#Species; Unicorn
#Cutie Mark ; A golden lyre
#Occupation ; Musician
#Powers and Abilities ; Lyra is incredibly skilled with using pretty much every instrument with strings. She also has a strong magic ability, although she highly doubts her own ability.
#Physique ; Lyra is no stranger to getting seconds at a meal... Or seconds on dessert! Lyra's a bit plump, but her back legs are quite muscular from all of her attempts at walking on two hooves. She has slight back problems from her preferred sitting position.
#Mane and fur color and style ; Lyra's mane is light blue and white. She keeps it brushed, but if she goes without for a few days, it doesn't look much different. Her fur stays a nice seafoam green.
#Eye color ; Gold
#Personality ;
The first thing you'll figure out about Lyra is that she's definitely a "people" pony. She loves striking up conversations with random ponies! Though, sometimes she crosses a few boundaries. How can she help it? She's a hugger! She might invade some personal space, but she loves talking about just about anything, so expect it to be easy to talk to her!
The second thing you'll figure out about Lyra is that she's very superstitious. If she knocks over some salt, she'll immediately throw some over her shoulder. She'll avoid going under ladders, opening umbrellas inside, allowing black cats to cross her path... It goes much farther than that, too! She strongly believes in Seaponies, Bighoof, the Loch Ness Monster, aliens, etc. Lyra loves everything odd, and doesn't hesitate to believe in legends and stories! In a world of parasprites, timberwolves, and manticores, is it really that hard to believe?
Above all the oddities, Lyra is obsessed with the legend of humans. It began with stories from her grandmother, and quickly turned into her lifelong obsession. She sits like the humans. She tries walking like the humans. Lyra has spent her entire life researching what little evidence of their existence actually exists... Lyra dreams of, perhaps, one day becoming human.
Lyra is a very laid back pony. She takes almost everything in stride, and always believes things will get better. The only thing that truly upsets her, is the belittling of her research. She can understand if a pony doesn't want to believe, but if they go out of their way to say that her life's work is stupid and fake... Lyra might not be as laid back afterwards.
Lyra is very casual about relationships. Since she has no boundaries, she isn't very concerned with what others think. If she wants a relationship, she'll attempt to get into one. If she doesn't, she won't go for it. If she gets turned down, there's always next time!
Sometimes, Lyra can be a bit daft. Although she's quite intelligent, she might not get the hint that a pony likes or dislikes her. She'll miss the punchline of a joke, or the point of a speech, but she tries her best.
Just know, that Lyra will work hard to be the best friend she can be.
#History ;
Lyra was originally born in Ponyville. Her parents were travelling salesponies, so they were never around. So, little Lyra spent most of her time as a filly with her grandmother. Lyra's favorite part of any day, was when she got to come home, and listen her grandmother tell her stories about legends... Especially the odd humans.
Eventually, Lyra went to school. She was sad about leaving her grandmother, but she quickly got over it! There were all kinds of different foals at this place! She immediately got to introducing herself to everypony! She was sure she scared a few away with how eager she was being, but it was hard to contain!
One day, their teacher laid out a lot of instruments, and asked each of the students to pick one up, and try playing. Lyra was hesitant. Which was odd for her. Normally, she'd just grab the first thing, and try. But... She strayed to a little lyre. She picked it up with her magic, and experimentally plucked a string. The smile on her face was one that could not be matched by any other foal in the room. Maybe in Equestria.
As her life progressed, she began experimenting with more and more instruments. She found that, no other instruments spoke to her as much as the ones with strings. So, she kept playing, and playing, and playing... Eventually, her grandmother cheered her on to go perform in the Ponyville talent show. Lyra had never felt nervous before, but she was literally shaking by the time it was her turn. She brought her lyre out on stage, and suddenly, with a pluck of a string, her nerves washed away, and she played her heart out.
At the end of her performance, the crowd gave her a standing ovation. In the middle of the show, her cutie mark had suddenly appeared. But, she was more concerned with the pony coming towards her. They introduced theirself as a representative from Canterlot, and asked if she wanted to come to Celestia's School, to further her magical, and musical, career. With a nod from her grandmother, Lyra said yes.
Life in Canterlot was very different from Ponyville! There was so much to see and do! So many ponies everywhere! But, she had to admit, her favorite place in the entire town of Canterlot, was the library in the castle. On her fifth day in Canterlot, she had stumbled upon it, and glancing through a few of the sections, found an entire bookshelf dedicated to myths and legends. Her favorite book? A detailed account of the possible existence of humans.
Lyra made many friends in her time at the school, but possibly the most important, was Princess Cadance! An alicorn! Lyra considered herself very lucky to consider the Princess as a friend. It even scored her a spot as one of her bridesmaids in the future, but that wasn't for a long time.
Well, eventually, Lyra graduated from Celestia's school. She took a position on the Fillyharmonic, and loved every minute. She was surrounded by other really good musicians! They got to play for all kinds of events!
But, it didn't last.
Lyra got called into an office one day. The ponies in charge of the Fillyharmonic had heard about her exploits in the Canterlot sewers, which was strictly to look for the sewer monsters that lived within. Lyra tried explaining, but they wouldn't hear of it. Some of the nobles were already talking about it, and they couldn't have sewer divers be apart of the Fillyharmonic. They told her that if she didn't stop this nonsense about creatures of legend, that she would be fired.
So, Lyra quit. As amazing an opportunity like this was, she wasn't willing to change who she was for these ponies. So... At that point, she was without a job, and without a lot of purpose. She had no idea what she was going to do... Until a letter came in the mail from her grandmother. From Ponyville. Lyra reminisced of the small town... And of the strange and wonderful Everfree Forest that sat right next to it! Suddenly, her mind was ablaze with wonder! What kind of creatures existed within those dark forests? Did Bighoof live there?
Lyra was on the first train to Ponyville. She wasn't worrying herself with the job opportunities in the town. She was sure she could find work as a musician! Plus, she still had her book of creatures of legend she was working on! She could totally make money here! And plus, she could just live with her grandmother!
Well, when she got to Ponyville, she saw that her house was empty... And had a For Sale sign! Where was her grandmother?! Lyra checked the letter she had sent Lyra, and went to the listed address. It was a retirement home! Lyra found her grandmother, and asked why she was here! Her grandmother told her she was too old to live by herself. Lyra tried explaining that now that she was here, she could take care of her. Her grandmother told her that she enjoyed living here, and had already sold their old house.
So, Lyra was without a home, without a job, and without much hope. What did she have? A bag of bits, her lyre, her sense of adventure, and her love of the creatures of legend! Lyra decided the only course of action was to look for somepony willing to have her as a roommate! Lyra went to the nearest board, and looked for an ad...The Roleplayer's Corner

Hello. My name is Lyra Heartstrings. Tell me, have you accepted Bighoof into your life?
Now, I know, it's blasphemy, right? That all the photos are blurry? That maybe the hoof prints are just indentions left by a rock, and it's all a bunch of horseapples? Well, let me go ahead and be the first to welcome you into the light of the-
"No, that's not it!" Lyra balled up the parchment, and tossed it behind her. Hm... If she was really going to make her own book on the absolutely true creatures of legend, she needed an amazingly awesome first page! Every page had to be jam packed with the beating hearts of these mistakenly accused creatures! She would-"Lyra..."
Lyra turned around, and a human was standing there! It was a human! An actual human! With hands! And feet! And pink skin! "Omigosh, are you here to make me a human?" The human stared at her with a blank face. Maybe he was here on accident? No! That was impossible! Humans were very intelligent creatures! And he knew her name!
"Lyra..."
"What is it? Are you going to give me hands? Are you gonna make me human? Do you think hands would make lyre playing better? Do you wanna hear my lyre playing?" The human stepped towards her. Oh, here goes! She was totally becoming a human! This was it!
"Lyra..." The human placed its hands on her... And began shaking violently! "Lyra! Lyra! Lyra!"------
"Lyra! Wake up!" Lyra bolted awake. A piece of paper stuck to her forehead, and she looked up at it as it sagged in her face. Her horn quickly pulled the paper off, and she glanced towards the voice. Princess Cadance! "Lyra, it's 6! Have you been sleeping here since you had lunch?"
Lyra blinked, glancing at a clock. "No... I started sleeping some time around 3." She gave a sheepish grin to Cadance. "But, I bet dinner's close!"
Her eyes traced back to the group of papers and books spread out in front of her. That dream... I'll finish you at one point, dream. It didn't happen yesterday... And it didn't happen today. But soon, dream... She looked back up at Cadance, smiling.
"... So what were we talking about again?"
