||| DERPY HOOVES |||
#Name; Derpy Hooves.
#Age Group ; Young adult.
#Gender ; Female.
#Species; Pegasus Pony.
#Cutie Mark ; Sup.
#Occupation ; Mailmare. It sounds cute right?
#Powers and Abilities ; Derpy may not be as smart as some other ponies or as nimble, but she's surprisingly good at memorization and sorting. There's no better handler of postage and you can bet that you'll be getting your letters on time and at the right address when this pony's delivering them.
#Physique ; Average for a mare her age.
#Mane and fur color and style ; A gray coat with a blonde colored mane and tail, style very reminiscent of a certain multi-colored mane having Pegasus.
#Eye color ; Yellow.
#Personality ;For the most part, Derpy tries her hardest to be the best mailmare she can be and tries to live her life as normally as possible. However, she lacks what most would call common sense and is one of the more ditzy ponies out there. It takes her a bit longer to understand concepts than others, which has caused many to fall under the misconception that Derpy is mentally handicapped. Derpy's life has caused her to develop some serious self-esteem issues on the negative side, but has also caused her to gain an unbreakable will on the positive side. Derpy's drive to improve herself and get smarter stems from words her mother told her at a young age: Do not let the bullies win. While Derpy may not have weather control down like the other Pegasi, she puts much more effort forward because of her shortcomings. Where most might find Derpy's slow nature as a weakness, she has spent her entire life turning it into a strength that helps boost her confidence. Still, Derpy is young and is prone to moments of weakness. The most frequent type of situation this attitude pops up in is when she has caused a mistake that harms or makes someone else upset, and all she can do is coil back and apologize or try and shrug it off with a smile, completely missing the point of the person's anger.
Because she spent a lot of her free time using her job to allow her to escape from the harsher side of life, it is one of the most precious things to her and one of her two biggest prides. Derpy is constantly trying to improve until she has hit perfection in her mail duties and surprisingly, for someone of her slow nature, she is extremely skilled at sorting and delivering mail. If you expect a letter at 6 AM on a Sunday, Derpy will show up on your doorstep at 4:58 AM with a smile. Derpy loves her job and would probably be crushed if she were to ever do anything to lose it, which is probably why she has yet to make too many serious mistakes. Rain or shine, Derpy will push herself as hard as she can until you get your mail. She realizes that it's not just her own reputation that is up in the air when she does her job: it's also the reputation of the entire Equestrian mail system. Derpy is also happy toward all the friends she has made with the job, who don't seem to care about her eyes or her slow nature whatsoever. Oh, and did we mention Derpy loves muffins? She developed her love at an early age but ever since she gained an affinity for them, the love of muffins has run deep in the family line. Even Dinky loves them!
But the most important thing to Derpy, and the one thing that makes waking up every morning worth every breath, is a filly by the name of Dinky. Dinky Hooves, Derpy's daughter, is the precious little ball of sunshine that Derpy could not feel more grateful for having. Due to Dinky, Derpy can get through the harshest adversity and get through the pain her self-conscious nature causes. Derpy is insanely protective of her daughter, to the point that she would harm someone very harshly if they were to harm her. There are parts of Derpy that feel she is an unfit mother and sometimes she wonders whether she can really raise a kid, but advice given to her from her mother as well as some bits here and there helps her out and pushes her forward. Overall Derpy might have self-esteem issues and be self-conscious over her slow nature and appearance, but with Dinky and the friends she's made Derpy feels confident enough to brave even the harshest of storms.
#History ;Derpy was born to a single mother and a lonely child, so it's safe to say that her life wasn't easy. She was born in Cloudsdale, where her mom still resides, and was born with her special eye condition. While it didn't seem to affect her vision too badly, it did cause her to get bullied in school. It didn't help that Derpy ended up developing slower than the other ponies and because of this it took her longer to figure out basic subjects and how to fly. Derpy's mother worried for her and there were nights that Derpy would stay up crying for a long time, but her mother continued to remind her not to let the bullies win and to never give in to their taunting. So she ignored them in the best way that she possibly could, pushing and pushing herself in her studies and trying her hardest to be the best pony she could be.
When she was of the proper age, Derpy gained a small job with the Equestrian mail service delivering mail throughout Cloudsdale. While she messed up on the first few jobs, she would begin to gain an affinity for it. She made numerous friends, including the parents of her bullies, delivering mail and making small talk between deliveries. When the day came for Derpy to deliver mail outside of Cloudsdale, despite being scared, her mother told her that she loved her and that she was ready. At first, Ponyville was a scary and strange place but Derpy got over her fear when she found that most of the residents were really nice. As the years passed Derpy continued to struggle with her job, self-esteem issues and self-conscious nature due to her eyes.
Eventually she came to the decision that it was time for her to leave Cloudsdale and reside in Ponyville. Despite the fact that she would miss her mother very much, Derpy knew this was something that she needed to do. Something to help her break away and make a life on her own. Nowadays Derpy resides in Ponyville, using her mailmare job to support a child! That's right, somewhere along the line of living in Ponyville Derpy ended up getting a child by the name of Dinky Hooves. While she is unable to remember who the father is, she loves her child with all her heart and tries to be the best possible mother she can be, all the while balancing the rest of her life. One thing is definitely for sure, if nothing else is certain: This muffin loving mail carrier isn't about to ever give up in her quest to become smarter! Not with her friends and her family backing her, after all.

#Sample RP ;It was one of those days again. A harsh day at work where she had ended up mixing up someone's letter. Inwardly she beat herself up for it, but the person who she had given the wrong letter didn't seem to mind. In fact, they were smiling and brushing it off so how could Derpy possibly react in any other way than with a smile? Sure, she could have beat herself up for it and it was true that she felt really bad for making the mistake but everyone made mistakes right? "Sorry! I'll make sure to get your letter back!" With that the Pegasus bolted off, not giving the other person enough of a time to respond. She soared through the sky and tried her hardest not to cry. No tears, remember Derpy? No tears... Dinky wouldn't want to see you cry. Mom wouldn't, either. You can fix this. You can fix this. When she landed down in front of the initial person she had given the wrong letter, she was in for an earful.
His nostril were flaring and he was furious, and Derpy shook in fear. There was a frown on her face as she took a step back, and looked down. "I'm sorry, sir... It was an accident--" She was cut off by a barrage of insults. When Derpy finally did extend the right letter, he just snatched it up and went back inside of his house. How rude! Forlorn, Derpy slowly flapped her wings and headed back with the right person's letter in her bag this time. Deep breaths, Derpy, deep breaths... On the verge of tears she landed down and rooted through her bag.
"H-Here's your... letter..." When she held the letter out to the other mare, she couldn't help but ask what was wrong. After all, Derpy was visibly shaking. "I-It's nothing... Don't worry about it..." The smile that came to Derpy's face was defiant, and the more her mind filled with images of her daughter the brighter it became. She exchanged a hug with the other mare before flying off, waving behind her. With another eventful work day done and a tune being whistled, Derpy headed home. There was still enough time before dinner... Maybe she could spoil herself and Dinky tonight with some early muffins!
