Great, was a third pony sent in to rescue them? Trixie didn’t need any help here. Her lightning bolt clearly stumbled the dragon, and the pony just ran away anyway. What was the point of that? Maybe it was just part of Elsa’s dream?
Well, there was no time to worry about that as apparently the dragon was ready for the fire-breathing part of a battle against a dragon. Now that she had made the cave good and wet, Trixie’s horn began to glow as she siphoned off all the moisture around the area to form a giant water wall. With the flames hitting the water, it wasn’t that long till the place started to fill up with steam.
With that serving as a distraction, Trixie hoped to try and get closer. If she was going to take this thing down she needed to get her attacks to be at point blank range. Ignoring the sigil or whatever the disappeared freak had put, she started running closer to the dragon.
Trixie so needs to make sure to tell ponies she slayed a dragon in her shows, and Luna can back Trixie up if anypony says Trixie is lying.
The dragon grinned, enjoying the combat with this mare more and more as time went on. "Clever mare." He said as steam clouded his vision, and Trixie disappeared into the haze.
He lowered his head, trying to get closer to see the Unicorn. She'd probably try casting something, and if she did, the light would be visible through the steam. But, there was nothing. No light, no hoofsteps echoing over the Dragons rising growls.
Rearing back, the dragon spread his wings wide and slammed them closed with tremendous force, creating another torrent of wind to clear the steam out of the way, glaring into the empty room in front of him, unaware of the Great and Powerful Tricks that the Great and Powerful Trixie held in her sleeves. (Under her hat? Whatever.)

As much as Trixie was enjoying this, she did kind of hope this battle would be ending soon. Mostly because dream or not she still was still starting to feel kind of tired with all this running. At least the dragon still hadn’t noticed her, even if he had cleared out the room of steam. She had taken advantage of the rearing though to place it so when he came back down she would be right underneath him and out of sight. Hopefully his underbelly would be a little bit softer for her next trick.
Making sure to put in some magical ear plugs, for protection of course, Trixie concentrated on summoning up the most fantastic and powerful fireworks that she could think of. Of course, these wouldn’t be lights. Oh, no, these would be full on exploding fireballs being shot right up into the dragon. Sure, the burns wouldn’t get to him, but hopefully just the explosive force alone would be able to do some damage.
Her horn glowing burning hot, she let loose a rainbow miasma of fireworks.
”Hope you enjoy The Great and Powerful Trixie’s signature spell,”
The dragon was unaware of the onslaught that was about to come his way. He spread his wings wide to fly out through the opening he had made crawling into the room to hunt for the little pony, when suddenly bright flashes started under him, as firework after firework hit him in the underbelly. Pieces of scales rained down on Trixie as the dragon let out a mighty, cavern shaking, roar.
A few of the fireworks peppered the undersides of his wings, causing the constellations in them to disperse into various directions. Clawing at the ground trying to hit the pony under him, the dragon growled. After a swing or two, his supporting arm gave out and he fell to a side with a crash, causing bits of the cavern to rain down over both him and Trixie. He did his best to shield himself from the debris, but was ultimately defenseless should the Showmare try something else, soft spots red and raw on his belly caused by the broken scales.

Hah, even the mightiest of dragons fell before Trixie’s signature fireworks spells. Granted the sight of falling scales was a little gory, but Trixie kept her concentration on finally bringing the bad boy down. Her concern started to get a little worse, however, as the cavern started to shake, and in the resulting mess of dodging attacks and getting out of the way apparently it started to fall down around them as well. But she was so close to taking him down; she couldn’t let this chance escape her.
Glancing at the debris, Trixie came up with yet another brilliant idea. She was a unicorn after all; falling stuff stood no chance against her. Concentrating yet again she focused on catching as much of the debris as possible. Sure, some smaller rocks and dirt got through, but she just needed the big stuff. The act was strenuous, dream wise or not, simply from the concentration needed to deal with several things. Once she had a good amount of them, however, she let loose, letting the rocks hit right into the exposed spots on the dragon’s bell.
”So then, are you ready to let the griffons go and declare the Great and Powerful Trixie the winner of this duel?” she said, letting him have a chance to surrender.
The dragon doubled over when the rocks hit him. Then, a rumbling laughter escaped his throat as he looked at the mare with a grin. "Great and Powerful Trixie." He mocked, shifting, the laughter only growing. " There's one problem. You lost this duel from the start. You want the Griffons. I know where the Fledgeling is. And I wont be telling you where." Another rumbling laughter.
He shifted a bit more, the rocks laying atop him falling aside as he stood, spreading his wings wide again, trying to look as intimidating as possible despite the Landslide that had just hit him. "So. Great and Powerful Trixie. Either declare Zodiac the victor, or fight." He smirked, knowing that he had the upper hand.

By now Trixie wasn’t exactly intimidated by the dragon; she had beaten the snot out of him and she knew it. His last little trick was a desperate attempt at coming out on top and, well, she’d let him have it. She came here to rescue the griffons and get out. Once the dream was over this guy was going to go poof anyway, so Trixie would have the last laugh in the end.
”Alright, fine, you can be the winner if that’ll soothe your ego. Just tell me where the griffons are so Trixie can get this over with and go home.”
The dragon grinned and folded its wings in. Then, it giggled. Not a deep, resounding laughter, but a little kids giggle. "I won! I finally won! Yay~" Slowly, the dragon shrank down in size, feathers spouting on its wings and head. Slowly, the dragon turned into a small, familiar griffon. "I never won against that other pony... He kept using some spell like a cheater..." The griffon said, a bit of a grumpy huff escaping her.
She looked up to the Crystal in the ceiling. "We should... save him. Can you, yknow, magic him out?" Elsa asked. On the far side of the room, the specter pony looked at the pair, disdain in his face and a red crystalline glint in his eye. Slowly, he moved forward, seemingly not ready to give up.

Trixie was full prepared for a large, bombastic speech by the dragon and a possible backstabbing. So when the dragon began giggling to itself like a filly, well, to say Trixie was confused was an understatement. She simply stood back and watched as the dragon shrank and shifted into…a griffon? So this whole time Trixie had been battling the “Elsa” griffon she was supposed to be rescuing?
”Well, didn’t see that one coming,” Trixie deadpanned before sighing and walking over.
She listened as the griffon requested her to save the griffon that was currently encased in crystal on the ceiling. Glancing up, Trixie recognized him as…Tech was it? That one of two griffons Trixie met during the Crystal Empire mess? Well, Trixie could attempt teleportation, but crystals could be tricky to work with, even if this was just a dream. At least there was one other option….
”Well, Trixie can use magic at least,” she said, sending a blast to the ceiling to knock the crystal loose. Tech would be alright; it’s not like he was actually falling and smashing into the ground, right? The crystal would break, he’d be freed, and they could all get home and Trixie gets to be a hero. Everyone would be happy.
So, anyway, now that you have defeated the Great and Powerful Trixie, she wishes to deliver a message to you. You are apparently under some dream curse, but don’t fear; now that Trixie has intervened and informed you of this, you will be able to wake up,” she said, beaming with pride at being of such use.
”So, just wish yourself to wake up, and we can all go home and get something to eat. Trixie bets you’re probably hungry by now.”
Tech fell from the ceiling, still encased in the gem. As it hit the ground, the gem shattered, just as Trixie had expected, sending the larger griffon rolling. Elsa ran over and jumped on him, giving him a bit of a nudge. "Will Kali be waking up, too?" She asked, looking back to Trixie for confirmation.
Behind Elsa, the specter pony still walked forward, lunging at the pair of griffons, but passing right through them. Elsa blinked, then giggled. "Nope. I won this time~ I've gotta go Mister Reaver. Byebye." She said, and the world around them started peeling away, back into the mists of a normal sleep. And slowly, the three would wake up, back in the castle, safe and sound.
