Beauty Brass is a cheerful, affectionate pony. She's always been one to hug, nuzzle, and cuddle her friends. However, if somepony were to express discomfort with this, she would do her best to stop. She tries very hard to be courteous and make the ponies around her as comfortable as possible, because why wouldn't she?
She's the kind of pony who's fond of every type of music, though she may have a bit of a thing for the fiddle. And, of course, her own instruments. She takes great pride in her music and loves to play for other ponies. Because she can enjoy just about anything musical, among other reasons, she gets along with almost everypony she meets. She works to find some common ground and builds on that, and enjoys getting to know new ponies.
She isn't one to get violent, and will in all situations try to avoid such a result. In fact, she rarely gets angry at all, except in the event that somepony hurts her friends. She can be somewhat protective in this way, but is definitely not a jealous pony. For the most part, she's very understanding, and a fantastic listener when she isn't talking. Although, her voice can be rather loud, especially just after she's been playing her tuba.
Additionally, she has a tendency to be somewhat oblivious. She doesn't pick up on hints or subtleties easily, and so may miss sarcasm and similar things. The mare isn't very attuned to body language either, so she may have trouble telling when somepony is uncomfortable unless they outright tell her. As a result of this, she herself tends to be rather blunt when expressing herself.
#History ;
In the humble town of Ponyville was born a blue earth pony who would come to have and achieve big dreams. Her father was a grand explorer, which for her simply meant he was almost never home. Her mother was prone to illness, but still enjoyed tending the small garden they kept. At school, she was a very social foal, making friends with many of her classmates. Though she was rather late in receiving her cutie mark, she was well-liked enough to not get as much teasing for it.
As she grew older, she became aware of a small school marching band being started and, being interested, she went to inquire about the nature of it. The pony in charge of it told her that most of the foals joining it would have no experience, so anypony was welcome to join. Feeling excited, she rushed home to tell her mother, who was pleased to hear that Brass had found something she was interested in. A few days later, at the first meeting, everypony got to pick their instruments. For reasons she couldn't quite explain, Brass felt drawn to one instrument in particular--the trumpet.
Being as it was a makeshift band at first, none of the foals were really that good at their instruments. Regardless, one young filly fell in love with hers almost immediately and spent most of her free time practicing. The first time they were to perform publicly was in a parade, and Brass couldn't have been more excited. As they prepared to march, she consoled the nervous ones (though she was a bit jittery herself) and encouraged the others. Soon, they were marching and Brass was playing her trumpet. She couldn't say she played perfectly, or that the crowd just faded into the background as she got lost in her music, but she could say that the faces of the ponies all around her who were cheering them on helped her get through it. Best of all, her mom was there, cheering extra hard. She'd puffed out her chest and marched in time and played her trumpet and felt so proud of herself for learning how to do this.
At the end of the parade, somepony pointed out to her that she had earned her cutie mark. When she turned, she found a pink bass clef had settled itself on her flank. She went home with a wide grin on her face which lingered for the next week. Her mother noticed how happy the band had made her and began saving up money in secret to send her to Canterlot. It took until Brass was nearly a teenager, which was just as well since the musical school she would be sent to didn't accept anypony under a certain age.
The opportunity was a surprise for Beauty Brass, revealed on her birthday. She jumped at the chance to go to a professional music school, though she was sad to leave her hometown and her mother. In the end, she wouldn't regret going, as it would eventually lead to her joining the Fillyharmonic with some of the most talented musicians in Canterlot.
Though she lives in Canterlot for her job, she also travels back to Ponyville often to see her mother. She can also be found pretty often at high-class parties, though it would be in the background, playing music.The Roleplayer's Corner

It was Beauty Brass's day off. She was staying in Canterlot this time, rather than taking a day trip to Ponyville as she normally would. She had already walked around the shopping district, tried and failed to find a suitable bowtie to replace her favorite one (which was getting rather worn), and walked through a garden. She had chatted with a few acquaintances and had lunch with a friend, but now something terrible had happened.
She was bored.
She wandered around, trying to think of something to do, when a fit of inspiration hit her. She ran home, fetched her trumpet (as it was easier to carry than her trombone or tuba) and headed out again. The earth pony mare stopped into a small coffee shop and picked up a latte before stepping out and finding a comfortable place on the sidewalk. There, she plops down her stuff and reverently pulls out her trumpet. She takes a deep breath and begins to play.
She creates an upbeat tune, one that brings a smile to the faces of many passersby. Some stop to listen to her, others simply smile at her as they pass. Each reaction made her happier, knowing she was putting a little light into ponies' lives.
She finished with a flare and stood grinning before a very small crowd of ponies, who applauded her.
