#Name;Stardust "Shooting Star" Glimmer
#Age Group ; Teen
#Orientation; Demisexual
#Gender ; Male
#Species; Pegasus Pony
#Cutie Mark ; A Shooting Star
#Occupation ; Freelance Courier
#Powers and Abilities ; Star is a fast flyer, nearly to the extent of Rainbow Dash. The challenge is that a quirk of his pegasus magic means that when he pours on the speed it tends to be all in one direction; he just doesn't turn well at high speed. He's practicing, though, with a diligence that would make Dash proud. He has compensated for this flaw with a stop-and-go style of flight, but its less than ideal.
His eyesight and perception of detail is also incredible, and while its most obvious benefit is the fact he does not suffer from tunnel vision when flying at top speed, it has also allowed him to pick up on smaller details such as memorizing even the tiniest imperfection on a pony's face. He's used this primarily when looking for ponies his clients are sending packages or letters to.
A stunt trick he developed on his own, which he has not managed to name yet, takes advantage of manipulating air pressure in a localized bubble around him, much like how pegasus ponies can control the weather. He does at most three Aileron Rolls mid-flight before suddenly snapping his wings, effectively bursting the bubble in a short area. The air pressure difference, along with the quick escape, gives the pegasus an intense boost. Three rolls is the most his body can tolerate without any debilitating effect. The dust his wings produce also gets trapped in this bubble, so onlookers would see a the shimmer, then by the third roll, he is practically obscured by the light bouncing off of the dust, a slight sillohuet is visible.
#Physique ; feminine, tall.
#Mane and fur color and style ; Snow white fur, sun yellow mane
#Eye color ; Grey-blue
#Other appearance details (optional) ; The distinguishing features of Stardust are three fold. First is his oddly large wingspan, which he was born with and had only gotten used to flying with after growing up a bit.
For reasons he does not understand, his wings accumulate a very soft and fine dust, which gives his wings an iridescent shimmer, and the dust trails behind him as he flies, shining most brightly in the star and moonlight.
A third distinguishing feature is his overall feminine body; he is so easily mistaken for being a mare, to the point where he wonders why exactly he was even born a male. This along with his height have made it much easier to mistake Shooting Star as an unathletic pony.
#Personality ;
Stardust is an idealistic, friendly and optimistic colt. He's the type to fly into any situation with a smile and a cheer. He is a firm believer in giving second chances, taking ponies for their word, and giving the benefit of the doubt; perhaps a naive way of thinking, but at the end of the day, he keeps good intentions in his heart. He doesn't give up when he wants to solve a problem, and can even try to be creative with his solutions. An example of his creativity is his stunt trick, which he developed on his own through practical application of air-pressure manipulation, not unlike weather ponies.
Conversely, he might bring himself in over his head, and although he may recognize this, he does his best to keep a smile on and be calm about it. He also strives to do what is 'right', though he hasn't completely outgrown the black-and-white morality, which makes this a somewhat reckless habit.
He follows a policy of 'Condemn the offense, not the offender', which allows him to tolerate quite a bit from other ponies. The only exception to this is when he knows the offender has no hope of redemption.
He is also really easy going, enough so that he embraced Shooting Star as a nickname when it was originally intended to be an insult, to the point where he has a habit of introducing himself as that. It is unknown if his patience has its limits, nor has it been seen whether or not he is capable of holding a grudge.
He dreams of joining the Canterlot Royal Guard, and he exercises daily in hopes of being good enough when he applies.
At some point, he developed a liking for cheese, to the point where he'd carry a fresh cheesewedge with him, or on rare occassionsdepending on the Rule of Funny, a cheese wheel. This liking most likely stems from very fond memories, his personal favorite; Applewood Smoked Gouda, being able to pep him up with just a bite.
Despite his tenacity, or maybe the reason for it, he does have a chink in his armor; he takes pride in his successes, but also takes his failures very seriously. He does get frustrated when he finds hurdles he just can't leap over, and is hit hard by situations that may be completely out of his control.
#History ;
Born and raised in Appleloosa,Stardust "Shooting Star" Glimmer is the pegasus child of two earth ponies. With no hints in the family tree, it was simply chalked up to random chance. At first, he couldn't fly because his wings were above average size, and his body just couldn't handle using them for a while. Even when he started to grow into his wings, his inexperience was a cause for much awkwardness. This was noticeable because of his sloppy flight that often resulted in him crashing. He would eventually be called a Shooting Star, based on the fact he would 'burn up' (read: Crash) fairly quickly when flying. He didn't mind the nickname, infact, he enjoyed it so much that he inadvertently pulled the ultimate 'buck you!' on the ponies who tried to bully him; embracing the nickname and removing all insult from it.
However, he did not give up, nor did he lose hope. Every day when he had the time, he'd work on improving his control over his flight, even exhausting himself on some days from the diligence. His parents supported him the entire time, and eventually time, tenacity, and hard work enabled him to fly around like any other pegasus, although there was a barrier he would find along with his special talent.
As he grew up, he began to read all sorts of stories in books, tales of the royal guard, for example. This and the occassional trips to Canterlot in which he saw the guards in pony. This was probably the reason what started his dream to join the Royal Guard.
On his first day starting his courier service, which he opted to make and promote as a lower cost alternative to sending mail via post office, Stardust got to travel around Equestria. He had succeeded in deliverying a letter for his first customer, but was asked to bring something back to Appleloosa, and he didn't have much day light left. It was on this day when he learned of his special talent, as suddenly he picked up the pace to reach an incredible speed. He was surprised by this that he failed to pull off a proper deceleration and landing,and although he did tumble a bit upon making it back to Appleloosa, he had been likened to a shooting star by the recipient, who had seen his iridescent shimmer mid-flight. With the package intact and the pegasus acknowledgeing that such speed was his own, he noticed a blinking flash on his flank, and upon looking, his cutie mark appeared. Overjoyed at the discovery of his special talent, "Shooting Star" continued to practice, and eventually developed a stunt trick of his own, although he hasn't come up with a cool name for it yet, which does bum him out a little.
It was during this time that he discovered the aformentioned barrier; while he is a really fast flier; he can only maintian the speed going one direction at a time. He learned through several close calls and a few crashes that he just can't turn when he pours on the speed.The Roleplayer's Corner

Business was a bit slow for the courier, but nevertheless, he was psyched for his final job of the day. He was to deliver a small package to a mare's friend in Canterlot, and was offered ten bits to do so. The only problem was the weather that was supposed to be going on. It was supposed to be incredibly windy and a bit of rain, which was why he was wearing a jacket with a special pocket for the package. It was nice and snug, so it would not slip out mid-flight.
I'm not going to beat the weather... he thought before a smile spread on his muzzle as he began to gallop his way towards the ledge of the large cloud. That just makes everything more exciting! he reminded himself as he picked up the pace, his wings flapping once to get ready. With a fantastic leap, the stallion dove right off the cloud, spreading his wings open to glide away before beating the air with his wings. "YAHOO!" he let out a cheer of enthusiasm as he began his trip. Rain, wind, sleet; nothing was going to get in his way!
