Following close behind Azure, not looking down and keeping a calm mind. 'A clear head prevents the dead. Just keep moving and find what you're looki-' Notices the figure that flees and ear flicks to the groans. "...W-What was that??" Looks around his surroundings for a good moment, gives his legs a small shake and acts a bit cowardly.
"...Planning o-on investigating, Mister Guard, SIr?" He found it hard to get his voice to break on purpose, but he managed. 'It's odd to hear someone out this far... but then again It may be another individual spelunking about.'

Chrysalis' wings buzzed in anticipation as she watched the two ponies cross the bridge. She turned and gave the Changeling next to her a firm smack. "Not only did you bring me TWO ponies... ones a guard. Get out of my sight, I'll deal with you later." the changeling Buzzed off, leaving Chrysalis in the quiet room.
She moved over to the center of the room and laid down. A green flicker of flame dulling the shine of her chitin, as well as adding some chips, cracks, and scratches as she awaited the arrival of her guests. "And I was told the Princess would come here sometime. Looks like our conversation will never happen... if things keep going like this, things are almost over for me..." Chrysalis shifted and groaned. Her voice was weak, if loud enough for the two to hear as they approach.
Azure keeps his head on his shoulders straight as he walks across the bridge. Something about this seemed way too weird. Why in the world would a cat, the image spiting his own words, lead the two of them into the most dangerous woods that have apparently ever been placed on the planet, across a rickety bridge to a castle that looks like it hasn't been inhabited in centuries to say the least. On top of that, groaning could be heard coming from within the very eerie castle. It came as to no surprise that the stallion behind him began to shake and tremble.
"...W-What was that," the stallion asked as a weak sounding groan elicited once more from within, "...planning o-on investigating, Mister Guard, SIr?"
"Well that's the intention," Azure says as he noticed the stallion shaking, reaching forward with his teeth and grabbing hold of his collar and wrenches him off of the rickety bridge upon hearing the plank beneath the stallion's shaking legs begin to crack and splinter, "so you can do one of two things now. You can stay here outside in the clearing and yell if you get in trouble, or you can stay behind me and come inside. Either way though, you had better not go racing off into the forest and get lost.
That groan had sounded pretty weak. There could most definitely be somepony in trouble inside. Or something far more beyond that simplistic picture. I really... really hope it isn't an injured pony inside. This has probably got to be one of the worst places in the world to be injured. Timberwolves... I had completely forgotten about them.
"On second thought, you're coming inside with me. I'll apologize later, but you don't seem like the kind who practices magic effective enough to take on a pack of Timberwolves. If even one of those come out you'd be in serious trouble," Azure says as he begins heading inside of the castle, looking about the eerie place in wonder on his hind two legs with his sword drawn and shield at the ready, "My name is Azure Moonlight, your's might be?"
He felt a bit unsettled at the groan, but this is exactly what he was looking for. The atmosphere, the creepy feeling. He had to take notes of this quick while his muse was running. Perhaps after he gets across the bridge, but his ear flicks at another sound. One beneath him. Oh, Celestia send it to the moon... He thought to himself, the wood splintering as he's about to take action to leap off, suddenly being pulled by the guard.
He stumbles onto his feet, taken a bit off guard by the save. "....Thank you." He eyed the guard up and down a bit. He had no reason to feel untrustworthy about him, he was a guard, after all. "Well, I wasn't planning on standing out here alone~ I'd rather much head inside with you and take a better look at these ruins. Besides... the only actual spells I have for fighting off anything are just simple defensive spells. Small force pulses that any unicorn would know. But yes, I follow you." He smiled, nodding in full understanding at the guard's request, but then, he was asked his name...
He blinked a moment. Ponies hardly ever asked his name, he was a street performer of great talent, but little recognition. 'Strings.... Just Strings~" His smile grew a bit as he followed Azure into the ruins.

Chrysalis glanced toward the doorway, toward the approaching voices. The two were certainly taking a long time to get to her. However, this gave her time to think. Only one was a guard from the sounds of it. As she recalled, the guards were taught some offensive spells pretty early in training. If the other pony didn't know those, he likely wasn't a guard.
This first one though. The forehooves stopped making sound. Which was strange for any pony. The sound of metal piqued her interest. Was this pony carrying a weapon? She cursed silently to herself and rolled to stand on her hooves. Her legs wobbled and one leg gave out, but she caught herself with her other hooves, slowly limping toward the doorway to get a better lock at the approaching ponies.
"Thank you. Well, I wasn't planning on standing out here alone~ I'd rather much head inside with you and take a better look at these ruins. Besides... the only actual spells I have for fighting off anything are just simple defensive spells. Small force pulses that any unicorn would know. But yes, I follow you."
Great, he didn't have to argue with the stallion for not listening. Glad to hear it, however, more pressing issues were at hoof and he didn't have the time to pat the stallion on the back and give him a gold star for his efforts. So with that much being cleared, he places a hoof on the hilt of his sword on his side and continues forth.
"Strings... just Strings."
Alright, now I have a name I can call him by other than dunce, doofus, idiot, wuss, paper weight, horned fool... I should stop before these thoughts become voiced. Heh, still, it's tempting as hell to start. Oh w- ... Well well well another Changeling. She looks like she's seen better days. At least... I'm assuming she's a she.
Azure takes his hoof off of the hilt of his sword, keeping his shield relatively ready but otherwise tries to keep from appearing hostile. He had already met one Changeling before in the Everfree, so perhaps this would be just as nice as the last experience. Though judging by the valley, the castle around the mare, and his luck, he wasn't banking on it.
"Excuse me, Miss? Are you alright over there?" Seriously, what is it with Changelings and living in this place? "It's alright, I'm not here to start any fuss or anything but it sounds like you or someone here could use a helping hoof."
Upon taking a closer look, Azure sees that the mare has a limp in one of her legs. He looked down to his rucksack that had been strapped to his waist. With a branch from one of these trees, assuming they weren't all laced with some sort of poison, he could jerry rig up a splint for her leg. He knew not much of the attack on Canterlot from the Changelings, but what he did know wasn't pleasant. That wasn't his problem though, for the most part, aside from what magic she might be able to use she seemed defenseless and otherwise pretty incapable of harm. He wasn't on shift either so... sue him for having a sympathetic heart and wanting to help a hurt being. If somepony else wants to arrest a Changeling who might have been involved in the attack, they could come out here and do it themselves. His duty was to protect Ponyville and it currently wasn't in any danger, and there's no crime being committed here in the Everfree, a place that isn't policed by many if any at all.
"If you have an injury I'd be more than happy to see what I can do to tend to it. I'm no medic by any means but I know a few things in the field of such." Azure stays back, giving the mare space. If this was her home, he wasn't going to intrude without being invited, and even then he wasn't going to just waltz in. A hurt pony can be a defensive pony, or simply a deceiving one waiting to stab you in the back and for no one to ever hear from you again. I... have seriously got to quit reading those books... but wow if they aren't good.
Sticking behind the guard, he had a feeling this was going to go smoothly, but as soon as he caught sight of the changeling, he hesitated a bit. She looked in bad shape, but still, he felt... a sudden uneasy feeling sweep over him. He looked around and then to Azure. This is going to be far more than I bargained for, isn't it...
He could handle a few jerks, maybe even 3... But a changeling was not something he wanted to mess with. He stayed a bit farther back behind Azure. "...Hey, be careful, alright? This place... Gives me a bad feeling..." He looked to the 'ling then Azure... And glanced around to be cautious of the surrounding structure.

Chrysalis's joints creaked audibly as she stood, a look of distrust crossing her face. She took a step back before her left foreleg seemed to wobble before she stumbled back into a sitting position. "With what I am, I'm sure you're just looking to get close enough to finish the job." She said, snarling the last of the sentence as her horn flickered weakly, a small rock bouncing and bumping off the shield harmlessly.
"It'd be an instant promotion. Ending the Queen that tried to take over Canterlot... I've seen what your /allies/ do to my kin. The pain, the blood. All of their final screams, embedded in my head." She said, her sight seeming to focus past them, looking into space. "Don't step any closer. I'm not going to be ended this day... If you want to help.... I want Celestia. I want to strike a deal. And most of all, I want my children to stop suffering for /my/ sins." She said, her eyes locking directly on Strings, a flicker of green behind them.
"You're not a guard. I want you to keep /convince/ him to keep his distance." The suggestion would hit Strings' ears with a honeyed tone. He could fight the suggestion, but it would seem like a sweet reward was in it for him if he did as she asked. "And the weapons. Have him put them away." The final suggestion almost seemed to have a bit of desperation laced into it, knowing she probably couldn't push a suggestion past an anti-magic shield. It had to have had anti-magic properties for the magic to fall from the rock as it hit the shield.
"...Hey, be careful, alright? This place... Gives me a bad feeling..."
No sooner does Affetto say that, a rock harmlessly falls off of his shield, having came from the direction of the injured Changeling.
"With what I am, I'm sure you're just looking to get close enough to finish the job. It'd be an instant promotion. Ending the Queen that tried to take over Canterlot... I've seen what your /allies/ do to my kin. The pain, the blood. All of their final screams, embedded in my head. Don't step any closer. I'm not going to be ended this day... If you want to help.... I want Celestia. I want to strike a deal. And most of all, I want my children to stop suffering for /my/ sins."
Azure gives the mare a mere deadpanning ridiculous look before lowering his head and shakes it, sighing irritably.
"Ma'am. I don't know who you're trying to associate myself with so let me be frank. I don't give a rat's a$% about some damn promotion. I didn't join the Guard to earn stories, fame, glory and all that glorified crap. Any Guard you meet that wants that should have been a Knight instead. I joined the Guard to make a difference, to protect the weak, and to be able to recognize the world tomorrow as I know it today. I don't take pride in killing.
"Sure, you attacked the city of Canterlot, great. They want to lock me up for tending to a mare who's injured, weak, and otherwise defenseless then they can do just that. But I'm not going to hurt someone who can't even defend themselves. You want your children to quit suffering, you have to get better first. It can start now, you can let me tend to you so you can start healing and I can go find Celestia afterwards so she can find you or you can send me on my way and hope Celestia wishes to meet you for this bargain.
As if to make his point, he pulls out a roll of heavy duty bandage wraps, bouncing the roll up and down in his hoof and making sure his rucksack is visible for Chrysalis to see.
At this point, the guard seems to have already acted, so Affetto's pushed thoughts seem a bit invalid at the moment... Skip turn? He stands aside, watching the two. He seems more of a tag-along than anything by now. Though, he still has yet to reach that spark... His horn glowing he does jot a few things down in the small leather note book.

Chrysalis took a step back, putting the old, broken throne into sight between her and the Guard. She didn't take cover behind it, but kept it as an option, just in case. She glanced to the shield, which was still raised. Then to the Roll of bandages he tossed about. Then to the unicorn. Too disinterested for her mind manipulation to have had any affect.
She silently cursed herself as she turned and looked toward the door on the side of the room. To the Library. "A Mother cares for her children before all else. My leg will mend in time. Their lives will not." She said with a harsh snap of her teeth toward the two. She took another step back, tripping over a small pile of rubble that she had not seen before.
Her eyes went wide and her horn flashed as the cuts and bruises disappeard as she tumbled to the ground with a light fwhump. She grumbled to herself as she slowly picked herself back up and started brushing dust off of herself. The brushing slowing as she had realized the fall made the illusion disperse itself. She slowly looked up toward the two, her gaze level as she thought about what may happen next.
Azure watches the spectacle happen, sighing quietly. On a day he could have just had off to himself, he was with a mare who was too stubborn for her and her own children's good and a stallion who... was he writing in a notebook? His deep blue ears flick to the sounds beside him, the sounds of one jotting something down. Was this stallion still for real? He'd never understand why ponies here seemed to think they were safe all the time, especially in a place like this with a being before them that had been dangerous before.
Turns out she still probably was.
His golden eyes watch as the changeling queen trips over a pile of rubble, watching as the illusion about her falls, all her seemingly present wounds no more. Placing a hoof on the back of his head after putting the bandages away, he looks to Affetto then to the queen, and despite the body language telling those who look at him that he's highly upset with a temper that's about to flare, his eyes remain calm.
You know, a mother also sets a better example for her children than what you're doing right now. I've heard of trial by fire but at this point if you care for them so much, look in a mirror and ask yourself if you're happy with what you see. It's better to just be honest than try to deceive another.
Azure listened as the wind howled about him, keeping his eyes on the changeling queen and her children about them, ears attentive and wings flaring out as if preparing for the worst. His feathers begin to rustle with a nervous energy, his own demeanor calm yet obviously processing a thousand different scenarios at once. He just took a shot at her verbally and they're in the absolute middle of Ponyville's backyard version of hell.
Today just wasn't his day.
Affetto, are you ready to go now or are we going to sit here and see if they invite us for a cup of tea, maybe let you write a biography on their life?
He glanced around as he wrote notes, keeping wary eyes on his surroundings. Then locking onto the queen, he watched her step back, then went back to jotting. It was after a slow 30 seconds he heard shifting of hooves again, looking back up to the Queen, and watching her stumble, fall, and her illusion fail. It was at that moment he concluded she was baiting. "You know, a mother also sets a better example for her children than what you're doing right now. I've heard of trial by fire but at this point if you care for them so much, look in a mirror and ask yourself if you're happy with what you see. It's better to just be honest than try to deceive another."
He heard the guard speak, glanced back to his notes, writing down final thoughts, then to the rest of the changelings, the guard, and the queen. He slowly slid his rear hoof back, getting into a sturdy position, but keeping posture.
"Affetto, are you ready to go now or are we going to sit here and see if they invite us for a cup of tea, maybe let you write a biography on their life?"
Looking over what he had, he tucked the journal away, with the pen into his saddle bag. "You're such a comic." He rolled his eyes. "Yes, I'm done, and we can leave when you're ready. As much as I'd love to get to know them, I don't think I have the time."

Chrysalis sneered at Azures words. "Do NOT tell me what a mother should or shouldn't do until you've been one as long as I have." She snapped, looking over to the grey unicorn who had just been a wall decoration up until this point.
Chrysalis paced for a few moments, her eyes never leaving Affetto. One little burst of magic, and he could be under her control. The guard has that shield, but the unicorn has nothing. She took a deep breath and allowed her horn to light up...
And wrap both of them in a wreathe of fire. "You two... Never return. Everfree is dangerous, especially with the rogues that broke off from my control during the invasion... But I will help you get back to Ponyville." She said, the fire wrapping around them and dragging them out of sight, only to reappear near Fluttershys cottage, right on the edge of the Everfree.
Chrysalis, however, took a seat, and pondered the words of the ponies that had come to 'visit'
Azure watched as the fire surrounded them, staying low to the ground on his rear two hooves as he held his shield out, waiting for the worst. As he listened to the words, he went to think about them before blinking, appearing out of the tornadic blaze of fire and finds himself near a lovely, warm looking cottage. Ponyville. They were back and chances were, they would not be heading towards the Everfree for a really, really long time. At least not me, this stallion better be done with adventures in the woods for the day... patrol can't come soon enough.
"Well... that settles that then. I'd thank her for showing us the exit but my voice doesn't travel that far ahead." Azure says as he looks over to Affetto, seeing he was just as unharmed as her was. Good, he didn't want to have to take Affetto to an infirmary of sorts. That could have started a whole fiasco that quite frankly, as much as he loved this job, he didn't get paid enough to deal with it.
"So, did you get what you went into the Everfree for? I'd hate it if you didn't, but I'm going to have to back up what the Queen said and say that we're not going back in there anytime soon. Do you need an escort back home or can you guide yourself there from here?"
