It was rare that Fluttershy came up to Cloudsdale, being much more of a grounded pegasi despite her birth, but once in a while she made an effort to visit her old haunts. It had been her home after all, so despite all the troubles she had has a kid she still had some attachment. Besides, birds were popular pets up in Cloudsdale for obvious reasons, so there were always some really neat things for birds up there! Special brands of birdseed, special bird toys, perches, oh it was absolutely wonderful.
So that’s how a visit home led her to currently be walking out of a pet shop and onto the cloudy streets of Cloudsdale with a satchel of birdseed and specialty nest building materials in her satchel.
”Oh, I bet Mr. and Mrs. Bluejay will love these fabric nest pieces. They’re little hatchlings will just love the softness of the material!” she said to herself happily as she made her way down the street.
As she did, however, she noticed some of the odd glances she was getting for, well, walking. In Cloudsdale most ponies tended to fly or hover, with mostly the non-pegasi visitors being the ones to walk. In fact, with the structure of Cloudsdale it was sometimes impossible to get somewhere without flight. So when she, a pegasi, was walking on the cloud, well, it could get a few judgmental stares. And as astute as she was when it came to the ponies around her, it didn’t take long for Fluttershy to move her mane in front of her face a little to hide. Sure, it didn’t actually hide her walking, but it felt more comfortable to her if she could block out the world a little bit with the silky smooth pinkness of her mane.
Of course, the downside to that is with blocked vision she failed to notice some bumpiness in the cloudy sidewalks that caused her hoof to catch, sending her smacking down face first into the clouds.
”Eeep!” she squeaked as she made contact, being reminded of at least one advantage of living on clouds: they didn’t hurt as much when you fell into them.
