#Personality ;
Dawn is the complete opposite of her older brother and sister. She's soft-spoken and timid, though not nearly as much as Fluttershy. Her loud side is normally brought out around her family and closest friends. Dawn is graceful and cares much more for her appearance than some ponies. Sometimes Dawn feels as though she's simply not what her father wanted, because while her siblings zoomed through the air only weeks after first trying out their wings, Dawn Light was much more difficult. Even after becoming an expert on holding herself up in the air, Dawn still had a distaste for fast flight, and much preferred the more artistic, flowing movements that could be done in the air. Along with her girlishness come those awful insecurities that many mares that become too careful about their looks have. She's embarrassed to even step out of the house before combing her mane and tail and making sure she looks proper enough to be seen.
Much like her sister, Dawn is loyal to those she loves. Of course, she's especially devoted to her mother, who has ever so kindly taken care of her her whole life. If Sunset can't attend to matters at home, Dawn is always there to lend a hoof. She doesn't have the same devotion for her father and brother, as they've never really understood her as well as her mother. Rainbow is her best friend, though sometimes Dawn feel like she'll never understand her views on flight and their family.
#History ;
Dawn Light was born into a family of four, making her the third child of the clan. Her mother, Sunset Breeze, spent almost all of her time caring for a newborn Dawn and her sister, Rainbow Dash. Sunset already had her hooves full, and Lightning Blitz, Dawn's father, getting laid off work only added to his wife's work load. At this point, Dawn was a very young filly, but she still needed her mother constantly, who didn't hesitate to give all her attention to her daughters the second she got home from work. Dawn was too little to understand why her brother was always angry with her and Rainbow Dash, as fillies don't quite understand the concept of true jealousy. Then Rainbow Dash learned to fly, and Sunset only had to focus on one little filly- Dawn Light. Around this time the filly developed her devotion to her mother. Her father didn't really pay attention to her or Midnight Blaze, as he was always off training Rainbow in flight. Dawn didn't mind. She'd taken after her mother, and she only wanted the best for Rainbow Dash, who was obviously enjoying her new abilities.
Dawn herself was a late flier. She refused to take off, and she much preferred the safety of having her hooves on the clouds to the 'thrill' of shooting and zipping through the air. When Midnight Blaze was sent off to Junior Speedsters, Dawn was just lightly flapping her wings.
It was around this time that Sunset became pregnant again. Dawn, of course, helped her mother with anything she needed, and took to doing the chores around the house. Things like laundry, cooking, cleaning, washing dishes, etc. became her everyday responsibilities, and she took them very seriously. Then everything went wrong. All Dawn remembers is seeing Sunset Breeze on the ground, Lightning Blitz over her, and then they rushed their mother to the hospital. The baby never came. Days went b, and almost every second Rainbow Dash was to be caught in an argument with her father. Dawn refused to meddle in what was obviously something between Dash, Lightning, and Sunset, and instead worked on nursing her mother back to health.
Midnight Blaze returned from flight school, and things only got worse. The yelling never ceased, and Dawn hated all the drama. At one point, Rainbow Dash got into a terrible fight with their father and ran away from home. Things seemed to settle down then. Midnight had his job, Lightning was more relaxed without his daughter around, and Sunset had made her recovery. All was well, except that there was one member of the family missing. Dawn Light prayed every night that her sister would return, and last she heard, Dash was a big hit in a small town called Ponyville. For the past month Dawn has been wondering if she should go and find her. She misses Rainbow Dash, her best friend and sister, more than anything. She plans on asking her parents soon to go search Ponyville. Besides, it's about time Dawn searches for an actual. Her best bet would be the Weather Patrol, what most pegasi do, but she's not completely sure.The Roleplayer's Corner

Sunlight burst through the window of Dawn Light's room, and the young pegasus smiled cheerfully. She loved mornings, because they were always so fresh. Sometimes she'd quickly fly down to the ground to see the small droplets of dew on the leaves or stare and the glorious sunrise for a few wonderful minutes. Birds would chirp their good mornings to her, and she'd happily soar through the air, watching the grumpy weather patrol moodily leave their cloud homes. She didn't mind that nopony else shared her unusual view on mornings, but it sure would be nice to see a smile every now and again. This morning was even more special than most, as today Dawn would ask her parents the question. She'd been putting it off for days, always convincing herself that it simply wasn't the right time. Nothing would hold her back this time, though. Dawn was going to ask her mom and dad if she could have their permission to go to Ponyville. She needed a break from Cloudsdale and all the household chores and little foals. So her chosen vacation spot was coincidentally rumored to be where Rainbow Dash now lived, it was a completely unrelated.
Dawn hastily hopped out of bed and combed her mane and tail. (Just because she was in rush didn't mean she couldn't take precautionary measures to ensure that she appeared presentable.) She splashed some water on her face to wake herself up and stretched her wings. Everything seems to be in order. Dawn mentally checked off everything she had to do to prepare to leave her room and flew out the door. Literally.
The kitchen smelled perfectly wonderful, and a smile tugged at the corners of Dawn Light's mouth. Everything was going as planned. She bade her mother and father good morning and trotted over to the dishwasher. The sink was completely full of dirty silverware, and Dawn Light grimaced. What an utter disaster. Their family was a disgrace to neat freaks everywhere. She grabbed one plate after the other, soaking each in water, then rubbing off any grime or leftover food. As she cleaned each dish, Dawn tried to hint to her parents that she needed a small vacation.
"Mom, dad, do you think I'm over-working myself?" she asked, and her father's head shot up. Blitz wasn't a 'vacation' type of pegasus, Dawn knew that, and she braced herself for what he would probably say.
"What would give you that idea? You don't even have a proper job, Dawn Light!" Lightning Blitz exclaimed, and Dawn Light supposed he was right. However, she'd been doing an awful lot of work at the daycare lately, and with her mother's small income and father still searching for a new career, Dawn Light had been taking as many small jobs as possible. Things like cleaning houses and foalsitting earned her a few bits every now and then, and it was certainly better than sitting around at home like her father did much of the time. In fact, Dawn wondered why her father thought he had the right to tell her this when he himself was unemployed.
"Actually, I've been working quite a bit lately. Just because I'm not in the Weather Patrol or at the Weather Factory doesn't mean I don't work," Dawn insisted. "And I would like to visit someplace other than Cloudsdale at some point. It was true. Dawn Light had never been outside of Cloudsdale except for when she flew down to the ground when she woke up very early in the morning. Maybe this would be her chance to finally explore someplace.
"Dawn, you've been working quite a bit lately. I think it's a brilliant idea that you take a vacation, and we won't argue with you, will we Lightning?" Sunset Breeze smiled kindly at her daughter. Of course she'd known what Dawn was suggesting. Dawn Light beamed and immediately flew off to her rooms. She'd had her bags conveniently packed, and was ready to go. She yelled goodbye to her parents and flew out the door. (Once again, literally.) In her excitement, the mare didn't even notice the pegasus she'd knocked over.
