#Name; Twilight Sparkle
#Age Group ; young adult
#Gender ; female
#Species; unicorn
#Cutie Mark ; a six-pointed, magenta-colored star surrounded by five identical white stars.
#Occupation ; Diligent student of Princess Celestia
#Powers and Abilities ; Most Unicorns, in fact most ponies regardless of species, have but a single talent. While this is true for Twilight Sparkle her talent spans an entire spectrum of magic in the fact that she is capable of learning new spells, adding to her magical skill set and putting them into practice. Naturally she is not immediately good at newly attained spells and they do tend to siphon a lot of energy depending on it’s complexity but multiple uses will help halve the exhaustion she feels afterward until it is barely noticeable.
#Physique ; Twilight bears the average physical form of many mares found throughout Equestria. She is fit but does not harbor the more impressive stamina of those who train their endurance. Even with the potential of being winded from long sprints she manages to keep up with the best of them without real issue.
#Mane and fur color and style ; violet, dark purple & pink
#Eye color ; purple
#Personality ;
Twilight Sparkle is not a difficult mare to understand. Many would designate the studious unicorn as being nothing more than an anal retentive nerve with moderate to severe obsessive compulsive urges, effectively belittling all that she truly is and could ever be. While she may not deny that her active fixation to tomes, young and old is a passionate avenue she is prompted to follow at any opportunity, she is an individual capable of so much more. And while it’s been shown that she likes to have all her ducks in a row she isn’t afraid to color outside the lines because a true work of art is made with ingenuity and newness.
First and foremost the former resident of Canterlot is kind and giving to those whom she meets. Albeit she may not be completely receptive to their company at first she has grown as in personage to the point where she is willing to extend the proverbial olive branch to anypony who asks it of her. But this too comes with its own miscellaneous rules and codes that are not meant to be crossed.
Breaking her trust it not an impossibly difficult thing to do. Although Twilight Sparkle is willing to forgive in most instances it is rarely immediate and may take her a bit to come to terms with a betrayal. The degree in which she feels that she, or those who she cares for, have been wronged; will determine the true heat of her fury. She may not give the vibe but she isn’t incapable of holding a grudge against others for past transgressions, mild-mannered though she may be.
She is a very composed pony, depending more on her wits and ability to reason than anything else. It rarely fails her and so she does not see any reason to go beyond the scope of that particular comfort. However, there are occasions where even she is stumped – which she will readily admit – and falls back to her books if they are available. If that is not the case Twilight tends to flounder a bit, letting a bad situation escalate or overwhelm her. She doesn’t mean to but she prides herself on knowing a fountain of knowledge so when her go-to tactic is disproved she sometimes finds herself doing things she would not necessarily act on had she been thinking with a cool head.
Her ability to love others and hold them close is something to be admired also. Twilight Sparkle considers everypony her friend. Strangers are only unknowns until they have been spoken with. True, some are closer to her than others and she is content with her tight circle of companions, she isn’t opposed to new encounters or meeting new ponies because friendships are something to be truly valued and cherished. A burned bridge is something she desperately does not wish to do and so she may fret a bit about doing things that will upset her nearest and dearest for fear of losing them when such doubts are unnecessary.
In all Twilight Sparkle is a very mature pony. She prides herself on her abilities but has not desire to flaunt them. She enjoys new experiences but is wary of things that had gone awry in the past. Her balance of life and pursuit of her studies may sometimes butt heads but she knows the value of each and has learned to make ample time for both. A friendship with a unicorn of her caliber is a gift not to be taken lightly.
#History ;
Born in the glistening city of Canterlot, Twilight Sparkle was raised and spent the majority of her time there. While she may not have been the social butterfly, taking a great deal more interest in reading large volumes of magical theory and Equestrian history rather than hopscotch or tag, she was never truly lonely. When she wasn’t comforted by the crisp smell of aged paper and dry ink, her time was spent with her foal-sitter Cadence or with Shining Armor, her older brother whom she adores. Any of the three were welcome additions to her life but outside of them she rarely associated with others.
It wasn’t until she was enrolled in the Canterlot School of magic that her world began to expand. A surprise reaction in the middle of her test produced the hatching of her faithful friend and number one assistant Spike. She was taken under the wing of Princess Celestia, the Alicorn ruler whom she had always admired for her steadfast devotion to Equestrians everywhere.
She spent the next few years tirelessly engrossed in her studies and, in a way, stewed further in her self-isolation. However her world was scheduled to expand a second time as she was sent by her teacher to the small parish of Ponyville to oversee preparations for a celebration held in Celestia’s honor. The whole affair was ghastly at first. Being that she was unused to dealing with others, not to mention in such large numbers, the initial chaos left her disconcerted. It worsened as she discovered the prophecy of Nightmare Moon and was directed to make friends rather than hole herself up in the Library in search of a way to combat the mare banished to the moon.
That very night Celestia was held captive and Nightmare Moon threatened Equestria with eternal night, a feat she would not achieve as Twilight Sparkle and five others from Ponyville stopped her temporary rise to power. The conflict was only resolved when she came to realize that, despite the craziness she’d endured, the five ponies: Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, Apple Jack, Rarity and Rainbow Dash, were all important to her even after having only met them briefly. They showed a strength unlike any she’d ever seen and through them she continues to learn the values of having friends.

Twilight Sparkle woke up knowing today would be a bad day. Perhaps it was because she had stayed up far later than usual the night before, having only gone to bed when the final stars had winked out of existence. Maybe it was because the subject she had been working tirelessly on had screeched to a crawl and headway was only being made after hours of aggressive searching through the library archives. Whatever it was, she knew, today would not bode well for her.
Sunlight filtered through her curtains and beat incessantly at her tired eyes, eliciting a groan of dismay from the weary unicorn. Had she been any other pony she might’ve silently wished that Celestia would have had some pressing crisis to confront and was late raising the sun, just so that she could snatch a couple more winks of sleep. But this was Twilight Sparkle, everything operated on a timetable and even she, exhausted though she was, would do the same. It was important not to fall out of sync otherwise it would be difficult to return to it. At least, that was how she reasoned it in her head as she crawled off her mattress and proceeded with her morning rituals.
With her bed made, mane and teeth brushed and feeling a tad bit better from having freshened up…that is until the sink faucet shot off and a geyser of water destroyed all her careful preening. She managed to stop it before the entire second floor was flooded but she didn’t escape unscathed from her battle. Sopping wet, and just a bit aggravated, Twilight left the bathroom with a towel and dried off only to be confronted by the dismal state of her work station.
It was unusually messy from the previous night of furious studying with parchment balled up and overflowing the wastebin or littering the area around it, half-finished notes strewn across her desk and a few empty inkwells that she’d need to attend to. “Spike? Could you please help me straighten up? I made a bit of a mess last night…Spike?” The library was strangely absent of sound and aside from the resonating beat of her hooves on the wood floor there was no indication that her dragon assistant was there with her. Twilight frowned. It wasn’t like she had him confined to the library but where would he have gone and not have left a note for her?
Sighing she set about in straightening up. Putting the trash in its proper receptacle, notes sorted, quills lined up, empty ink wells on the desk with a little remainder to get more. When all was said and done she gave her surroundings a glance and decided she’d rather enjoy herself outside with a nice book and a bench rather than stay inside. So she went to get her saddle bag and tightened the belt around her waist securely after loading a few books into it. Unfortunately the strap broke immediately after she’d gotten it situated… “Ugh…Today’s just not my day.” She groaned, picking up her saddle bag with a sigh. “Maybe I Rarity will be home and not too busy to fix it for me.” She mused, opening the door and crossing the threshold…
…And was suddenly assaulted by a sudden torrential downpour.
Twilight blinked, too startled to quite register what had happened. But when she became aware the status of her books she glared skyward and came to see Rainbow Dash wrestling a dark cloud into submission. When the blue Pegasus noticed her she offered a sympathetic smile. “Sorry about that Twilight. Us Pegasus ponies are bringing all these rain clouds out toward Applewood and somepony let this guy get away from her.” The last was said with an admonishing hitch and a huffy look at Derpy who only flashed a sheepish smile before taking over leading the storm cloud to its destination. “Anyway, I gotta run. I’ll catch you later!” And with that Rainbow Dash was gone, leaving Twilight to grump and grouch all the way to Rarity’s boutique.
